Chapter 5
"Humans are not supposed to be able to see us," Charles stated in the afternoon, his mask back on his face. I was lounging on his comfortable seat listening to him explain about our current situation. See a questionable expression on my face he continued, "But you can."
I felt stunned to silence. "Some humans have the sight, like you, but this is on rare occasions."
"Like what?" I asked in a shaky tone, surprised that I even managed to speak.
"Like if they're chosen for something or someone," He said. He now focused his stare on me.
"Do you happen to know any relatives or ancestors who seem to ask suspicious or look like us," Charles asked pointing at himself. I furrowed my eyebrows and searched through my brain.
"Not a clue," I said, sighing defeated. "But even if one of my ancestors were fae wouldn't they glamour themselves to look like humans to live in the "human world" ?" I put up two fingers on each hand to form quotation marks.
"That's a good point," he sighed. Suddenly an idea formed in my head and my mood immediately brightened.
"I have a book that contains my ancestors' profiles," I suggested, happy to finally finding a way to go back to Earth.
"Where is it?" Charles asked with even more narrowed eyes than his regular ones.
"My home," I said in a "duh" tone.
"I know that," He responded irritated.
I gave him a pointed look. "London."
"We'll have to travel back to Earth," I heard him mumble to himself but I heard it anyways. I gripped the edge of my seat, my finger muscles clearly in view.
"We're not on earth," I paled. I already suspected that so why was I feeling so nervous. Maybe because this is clearly an unknown and undiscovered place? Maybe because I'm homesick? Maybe because I'm God-knows-where and sitting comfortably on a chair talking to my kidnapper? For christ sakes, I'm suppose to be trying to be resistant and find ways to escape not cooperating with the enemy!
Many hours later...
I stared at the luxurious-looking plane in front of me. Its metallic silver color shone from the light that escaped through the transparent glass windows. After a few minutes of admiring the plane, I looked back at Charles then back at the plane.
"You're kidding right?" I raised an eyebrow. "What are we, in Star Wars or something?"
He merely chuckled. "That is most definitely not our transportation."
I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
"We are traveling through a portal," He said, his expression and tone serious.
I stuttered. I am dreaming. Yes, I am actually dreaming. Thats the only explanation for all this. I put my hand on my forehead and then gave it a huge slap.
Smack! A loud smack echoed around the room as I stared at my hand in disbelief. Well, I felt that.
I can't believe this is actually happening to me! Just a few weeks ago, I was living a normal life, going to school, chilling with my friends and now this.
I turned around to see Charles looking at me with an amused grin.
"What?" I asked irritated.
"Nothing, nothing," He responded with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes. This was all his fault.
"For your information, I was the one to save you," He said with a blank expression on his face.
"I am perfectly fine at taking care of myself," I retorted.
It was his turn to roll his eyes as he book his left hand forward and used his right hand to repeatedly draw circles in the air.
"What the hell are you doing?" I asked raising an eyebrow.
"Making a portal to Earth," He responded, the circle that he drew in turned a bright golden. "It's one of my powers."
I gawked at him, secretly impressed. Man, I thought I was lazy but if this guy had this kind of power, he never had to walk again, ever! Boy, would that be so much easier in my life.
"That and the ability to read your mind," He added as the circle grew bigger and turned a darker shade of yellow.
My eyes widened.
"Rude," I murmured, knowing he could hear me.
At last, the portal was made.
"After you my lady," He mocked bowed at me.
I scoffed. "As if I'd go in first. Who knows where you directed the portal to. Maybe you created one into a dumpster or something."
"If you're going to survive here, you better start trusting me, Mendell," He said with a glare. But I won't be coming back here, I thought. For a minute there I had forgotten that he could read minds. The look on his face confirmed it.
I sighed before stepping in the portal.
The weird sensation that tickled my body is simply unexplainable. For a minute, I looked at my surroundings. The cool air that surrounded me plus the familiar fear that chilled my bones confirmed my suspicions.
I sensed Charles's presence before I whirled around to face him with the fiercess glare I could manage.
"Why the hell are we on top of the freakin Eiffel Tower!"
