Epilogue
SOPHIA
*Five years later*
I rushed around the kitchen, making sure I had everything I needed for the birthday party.
Paper plates - Check.
Pizza - Check.
Cake - Check.
Present - Crap.
Where the hell did I put it? Now was not the time to be misplacing presents!
The last time I saw it, it was in my closet hiding. I didn't think I ever took it out so hopefully it was still there.
I took everything out to the dining room and set the table, then made my way up to my room to get the present.
I held my breath in anticipation as I opened my closet door, hoping to find it but preparing myself for the worst. If I couldn't find the gift here I didn't know where it could possibly be.
Please let it be here.
A box wrapped in bright red paper caught my eyes right away and I let out a sigh of relief. My memory didn't fail me this time.
I grabbed it and quickly went back downstairs to put it with all the others. I was finally finished setting everything up. I could finally take a second to relax.
"Hey sweetheart." A voice whispered in my ear and wrapped their arms around me from behind.
I squeaked in surprise, but quickly relaxed into the person's arms.
"Hey Dam Dam." I greeted, spinning around to face my husband.
I grinned cheekily at the playful scowl on his face. He pretended to hate the nickname but I could tell he secretly loved it.
"Everything's ready for the party now. The food's out, the table's set, the candles on the cake are rea-" I was cut off by Damon's lips being pressed gently against mine.
"Everything's perfect, you don't need to worry. It's bad for the baby." He replied after pulling away, reaching down to rub my belly, which looked ready to pop. I was due to have the baby any day now.
Before I could reply, a bunch of eight year old kids came storming in through the back door, all chanting 'pizza'.
I laughed and walked out of Damon's arms so I could tend to the army of children.
As I was serving out the food the doorbell rang, so I handed over my job to Damon to answer the door. I already knew who it was and I was practically bursting with excitement.
"Garrett!" I exclaimed as I swung open the door, immediately pulling him in for a hug.
I moved away after high school so we only got to see each other a few times a year. I missed my best friend all the time but I needed to leave the town I went through so much in.
"Hey preggo." He laughed, eyeing my huge stomach.
"And who is this?" I asked when I spotted a very handsome man slightly behind Garrett.
"This is my boyfriend Trevor." He replied, taking Trevor's hand and pulling him in the house after him.
I smiled at the couple, the way they looked at each other was so precious. I was happy he found someone special.
"So where's the birthday girl?" Garrett asked as he looked around.
"She's in the dining room with her friends." I told him, and together we walked back to where all the chaos was taking place.
When Garrett spotted the birthday girl he ran over to her and lifted her up into a hug as he said "Happy birthday Tori!"
I smiled at the two of them and was hit with a pang of gratitude. Tori had been cancer free for five years now with no signs of it coming back. Back then I could've never imagined we would be celebrating her eighth birthday. Every birthday of hers felt like a miracle.
"Put her down before her pizza makes an appearance." I told Garrett as he spun her around, laughing at the disgusted face he made when my words sunk in.
"You're no fun mom." Tori complained as Garrett set her back on her chair.
"I'm the funnest mom in the world." I playfully disagreed, which she thought was hilarious.
As the kids ate, Garrett, Damon and I all caught up and I got to know Trevor. It was so nice to be around Garrett after so long, the only thing missing now was Alex and his family. They were supposed to come but their daughter caught the flu.
Once the kids were done eating Damon and I went into the kitchen to light the eight candles on top of Tori's chocolate cake. The physical symbol of her living another year brought tears to my eyes, thanks to the pregnancy hormones.
I dimmed the lights before we carried the cake to Tori as everyone sang Happy Birthday.
She had the widest smile on her face as we set down the cake in front of her, and she took a moment to look around at everyone before she closed her eyes and blew out the candles.
"Happy birthday princess." I said as I bent down and kissed Tori's cheek.

"So the party was a success." Damon said as he got into bed next to me.
"I'm not surprised, our whole life has been a success." I replied, thinking back to everything we'd done since high school.
I took full custody of Tori after I graduated, and the three of us moved to California soon after. We got married on the beach and that was where Damon asked Tori if he could adopt her. It was such a beautiful moment. We had already explained to Tori that I was her mom, which she took very well, so it was only natural that Damon became her dad if that was what she wanted.
Once we fully settled in Santa Monica Damon went to school to become an engineer and I successfully started a small photography business. Our lives were pretty perfect, and soon our family would welcome a new member.
"I think we owe our success to Antonio." Damon joked, nodding in the direction of our window sill where the tree lived.
I laughed, but a small part of me agreed. Without Antonio we never would've gotten together. Our lives would be very different.
"How are you feeling?" He changed the subject, placing a hand on my stomach.
I placed my hand on top of his and replied "I'm fine, just anxious for when this little munchkin decides to make an entrance into the world."
"I can't wait to meet Drew." He whispered, leaning over to kiss my tummy.
We were naming our son Andrew, Drew for short, after Damon's dad.
I knew it was the right thing to do once I saw the smile on Damon's face when I suggested the name. I could tell he really missed his dad, so this was the least we could do.
And when we told Damon's mom she broke down in happy tears, touched that we would name our child in honour of her husband.
"I'm gonna be Drew's favourite, isn't that right son?" Damon said as he placed his ear lightly against my stomach. It gave me butterflies to think that we were going to have a son soon.
I scoffed and pushed his head off playfully when I realized what he said. "I'm gonna be his favourite and you know that just as well as I do."
He shook his head and smirked confidently, "I guess we'll just have to wait to find out."
"I wouldn't look so confident Dam Dam. There's a fifty percent chance that he'll like me more. And since I carried him for nine months we already have a bond, which makes my chances even higher." I told him, smiling smugly.
"Oh really?" Was all he said, and then he was tickling me.
"Da-Damon s-stop!" I squealed as I tried to wiggle out of his grip.
"Not until you say I'm gonna be Drew's favourite." He compromised.
"N-never!" I screamed stubbornly.
As he continued to tickle me relentlessly my sides started to hurt but I didn't think much about it.
"Did you- Did you just pee?" Damon asked as his hands stilled at my sides and his eyes went wide.
"What?" I asked and looked down. Sure enough there was a wet spot on my jogging pants.
Before I could reply a sharp pain shot from my belly downwards and I groaned in pain as I clutched my stomach.
"Oh shit." Damon whispered, freezing in shock.
Oh shit was right. My water just broke and I was going into labour.
All because of Damon's freaking tickling!
"Damon. Hospital. Now." I hissed through my teeth when another contraction started.
"Oh shit, oh shit." Damon kept chanting as he stood up from the bed.
"I'll go get Tori and then come back and help you downstairs." He quickly told me, then ran out of the room. In any other situation I would've laughed at the panicked look on his face, but I was too busy breathing through the pain.
I got off the bed slowly and started towards the bedroom door as he got Tori.
Moments later Damon was back by my side and helping me downstairs with Tori close behind.
After that everything was a blur of people and pain, and all I could think was that Damon and I were going to meet our son soon.

THE END
And they all lived happily ever after.
Okay so that's it. This is the end of Damon and Sophia.
I'd also like to say that this is the first story I've ever finished so that's pretty exciting.
And if you've read all the way up till the end of the story, and you're reading this, I just wanted to say THANK YOU! And I hope you enjoyed :)
