Chapter Two
SOPHIA
I was in my room after dinner, just doing my homework and minding my own business when loud music started playing.
I looked out my window into Damon's and saw that the music was, in fact, coming from his room.
Typical.
I was about to go back to doing my homework when I saw something move. Damon sild into view, dancing around with something in his hands. I squinted to see the object and had to hold back my laughter when I realized what it was. A broom. Damon was dancing around his room with a freaking broom.
I took out my phone immediately and started video taping it. This could be used for blackmail later.
I taped five minutes worth of his goofy dancing before my arm got tired of holding my phone up.
I watched the video once to make sure it was good and laughed my butt off. At one point he even dipped the broom low and planted a kiss on it's head.
Twenty minutes later he was still dancing, so I decided to embarrass him.
Since his window was open I went over to mine and opened it to shout out "You should really give that poor broom a break."
Startled, he dropped it and spun around to look at me, but in the process of turning around he tripped and fell on his butt.
I burst out laughing, clutching my stomach and laughing so hard that I couldn't breath.
"Okay, you can shut up now." He grumbled as he stood up.
I finally stopped laughing and took a second to catch my breath before replying. "You sure do know how to embarrass yourself."
At my comment his cheeks turned a nice bright pink.
"S-shut up! You didn't see anything, you have no proof!" He stammered.
I rolled my eyes and smirked. "What if I do have proof?" I asked, taking out my phone and playing the video to show him that I had all the evidence I needed.
The look of pure horror on his face was almost as priceless as his dancing.
"I'm gonna kill you!" He growled, rage darkening his blue eyes.
I thought for sure he was going to pounce out his window and into mine, but he didn't. Instead he just walked up to his window, a smirk forming on his face.
That could only mean one thing - he was planning his revenge.
"I hate you." He said, his way of saying farewell.
"I wouldn't want it any other way." I replied, and at the same time we closed our windows and made sure our blinds were shut too.
That night I went to sleep with a satisfied smile on my face.

When my alarm clock went off the next morning I slammed my hand down on it with more force than necessary. But that thing had it coming, waking me up every morning with that horrible beeping.
I grumbled about how the morning always came too quickly as I rolled out of bed. For some reason I thought I would land on a floor of marshmallows, but in reality I rolled onto the hard ground with a loud thud.
I really hated mornings.
I pulled myself up off of the floor and dragged my butt over to my bathroom where I showered and got ready for the day.
I decided to leave my wavy blonde hair down, unable to easily style it because it was too long and heavy to stay in place. I made a mental note to get it cut soon as I slipped on jeans and a white jumper. Although my school had no dress code I liked to stay covered up anyway.
After I was done getting ready I made my way downstairs to the kitchen for some breakfast. I didn't feel like cooking anything so I grabbed a couple granola bars and pocked the ten dollar bill left on the counter every day to pay for lunch.
Once I was done eating I took out my phone to check the time. I still had half an hour before I had to leave for school so I headed back up to my room to kill some time doing the thing I loved most.
I sat down at my piano keyboard and began playing a song I was in the middle of composing.
Playing piano was my best kept secret. No one other than my family knew I played which made the hobby more special. It was just for me.
My walk in closet was remade into a mini music studio a few years ago. I had my keyboard, along with a guitar and ukulele set up in it and that's where I'd go when I needed to escape for a while.
I was so lost in my music that I forgot I had school soon, and by the time I remembered I was almost late.
"Crap." I muttered to myself over and over as I slid on my beat up white sneakers and rushed out the front door.
I drove to school above the speed limit and thanked the universe when I made it to school without getting pulled over.
By the time I got to my locker most people were already in their class, with the exception of a few stragglers.
I pulled out the books I needed before slamming my locker and jogging to class.
Just as I walked through the door the bell rang.
I smiled in triumph as the teacher glared at me.
My first class went by without a hitch which put me in a good mood like usual, but then I got to the door of Environmental Awareness.
I was about to walk into the room when I remembered something horrible. The devil was in this class.
My good mood instantly faded at the thought of dealing with Damon while I was learning. To me, being in class was like a safe haven since it was the only time I didn't have to deal with him.
But Mr. Willis just had to ruin that for me.
Suddenly someone pushed me from behind, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I whirled around to see who assaulted me and of course I came face to chest with Damon. Speak of the devil and he shall appear.
"What?" I snapped, already balling my hands into fists in an attempt to stay calm. This guy just brought out the worst in me.
"You're blocking the class entrance. And unlike some people, I actually want to learn. So move it." He rudely replied.
I scoffed, rolled my eyes, and walked into class.
Everyone took their seats and as soon as the bell rang Mr. Willis started speaking.
"Good morning class, I know this isn't a usual thing but in this class you will have a seating arrangement." He stated.
Everyone, including me, groaned.
Why did we needed a seating plan? Everyone was happy where they were and I was as far away from Damon as I could get.
Since all the desks were in pairs of two Mr. Willis, or should I call him "Mr. Devil", started naming off pairs.
I grew nervous when the only names not called were mine, Damon's, and four other students.
Then I heard "Sophia Mackenzie and -"
Followed by my worst nightmare, "Damon Blake."
We both looked at each other in shock and disgust before looking at the teacher in disbelief.
"I object." I stated, raising my hand.
"Yeah me too." Damon added, also raising his hand.
"This is never going to work." I told Mr. Devil.
"Well you two are gonna have to try." He told us, waving his hand dismissively and then pointing to the back of the room where our new spots were.
Damon and I slowly made our way to our seats and plopped down in the chairs.
I winced when his arm brushed against mine. This was pure torture.
I could smell his disgustingly strong cologne, I could hear him breathe, I could see his hand moving as he doodled mindlessly on his notebook.
Everything he did infuriated me.
But what Mr. Willis said next made me forget all about Damon's annoying habits.
"I hope you like the person you're sitting beside because you'll be doing a year long project with them."
Most people cheered, but me and Damon. We just sat there, jaws dropped, eyes wide in horror, staring at Mr. Devil.
"Settle down class, you don't even know what the project is about yet." Mr. Willis laughed.
"What's the project about then?" A girl I didn't know the name of asked.
"You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out." He replied, just as the bell rang.
Damon raked an angry hand through his messy black hair as he stormed out of the room, and I followed behind just as upset as he looked.
