Two

Demi smiled as she approached her home.

The door flung open and her mother squealed. The two women bound towards each other before colliding in a hug.

"Hi mama," Demi mumbled against her shoulder. Her feat hovered over the ground as she was weightless in her mothers grasp.

"Never leave again! I can't take my youngest baby being out."

"It was only a couple weeks ma'. Besides don't you think it's a little unfair everyone else can come and go as they please? I'm twenty for goodness sake," Demi grinned as she pulled away.

"All four of my kiddies always come back- I don't know what you're on about you can barely wipe your own butt without me."

"Oh that's bull!" Demi gasped and shoved her mom playfully.

A strong hand gripped her shoulder before she was pulled into a familiar chest. The massive form of her father hugged her tight.

"Hey dad," she squeezed him but rolled her eyes. They act like she's been gone for months.

"I found a couple of the soldiers and took them out. No big leads just picking off the lackeys. The Doc stopped by to clean up and I headed home," she informed them as they walked into their home.

"You're just in time too. Tomorrow we're having a group come in to work on the human situation." Her father informed her while she heard her siblings in the living room.

"But we'll worry about it tomorrow and catch everyone up before the meeting."

Her twin brothers came stomping over. The younger of the two, Knox, lifting her in a hug. While Ezra, the other twin, grasped her after.

Kekoa her older sister and the eldest of the four rubbed her back with a wide smile. "We missed you Dem. Try staying home for longer than a month this time around hm?"

Demi sighed but didn't dignify a response. She was freshly 20 years old and felt the need to pull her own weight in the Bordoa family and their affairs.

Her family apparently took her time away personal, obviously.

"Can we just eat? I'm starving," she ushered everyone towards the kitchen.

Demi had unpacked some of her things, objects hovering around her and falling into place behind her. Her own magic dancing around her room.

She blinked, her mind buzzing with multiple distractions. She could feel her families magic around her, it made her feel muddled.

She could hear it around her.

Magic was alive and boisterous, all forms of it.

Her mothers magic was loud, full of life as it sang to her. Demi's lips tugged in a smile, her mom was happy. When the woman wasn't happy the magic screamed to be heard and released.

Her sister, Keko's magic hummed with a deep base. It was strong and stubborn, embodying how powerful her force fields were. They were the stronghold of the family.

And last but not least, her bothers magic. Ezra's magic was sneaky. It creeped into every corner of the house, whispering secrets that Ezra knew and often kept to himself. But his magic wasn't good at keeping secrets from her.

Demi was lost in the sounds for several minutes, trying to discern what was real around her and what wasn't. Her eyes glowed in the dim light and she shrieked when a knock sounded on her door.

Ripped out of the sounds around her, she approached the door. Without another thought she used her magic to push her head through the wood of the door.

In front of her, Kekoa screamed in fright as Demi's head phased in front of her.

Kekoa's hand smacked Demi's forehead lightly.

"I hate it when you do that!" Demi pulled away and back into her room.

She stared up at her sister with her normal, tired eyes.

"C'mon sissy come to the table for dinner."

Her older sibling drew her into her side, looking over her. Kekoa observed Demi's usual far away look.

If only Kekoa could see the world through her eyes, even for a second.

Demi gave her a smile after she focused back in, the two beginning to skip in sync to the dining room.

The sisters hummed a quirky song, giggling before sitting down.

Ezra was at one head of the table as the oldest boy, Knox and Demi on either side of him. Kekoa was next to Demi and besides her was her father at the other head of the table. Her mother sat next to Knox.

Demi hummed to herself as she looked around the room, her legs bouncing as she listened to everyone.

Ezra kicked her gently. Her gaze snapped to his hazel ones.

Ezra lifted a single brow.

"I'm okay!" Her focus was torn to a little creature she saw circling his head, it tore a giggle from him.

"Mom she's seeing things again," the entire tables attention snapped to her.

She blinked a couple times to look at her mother who was a bit concerned.

"I've just been teleporting a lot."

"You've spent too much time in the void," Elora, her mother, was serious in her tone.

Demi openly pouted, "well it's my void. I should be able to go there."

"Demi we don't know the long term affects of it," her father piped up.

The youngest witch in question was frowning, "Mama if someone told you not to use your magic you'd feel a certain way about it as well. I don't mind what I see, it's apart of my world. It's everyone else that has a problem with it."

Elora's shoulders fell, she knew what it was like to be outcasted. "We just worry, baby."

Knox spoke up, "I never saw the big deal, what have you been seeing lately?"

"The normal things, the colors and stuff," she mumbled. "Some new species are coming in and out of the dimensions more freely." She smiled at the thought of the cute creatures that often aided her.

Elora looked at her mate worriedly. Demetri gripped her hand to comfort her. Their youngest daughters magic was always a conundrum. When she was a growing pup, the girl would teleport randomly, sending them into a panic.

They'd consulted other witches and Elora used her own magic to subdue her daughters, to keep her safe. They found out that Demi was the first witch to be able to teleport without a portal. Her body acted as the portal.

Each time she did, instead of going from point A to point B she'd have to stop at point Z or as they liked to call it- the void.

Another freaking dimension. Where other things lived, different colors existed, and where right was left.

It was concerning but Demi ensured she was safe there, no one bothered her, it was if she was a ghost there. She had described it as red ground with purple skies, land suspending in mid air where you could hop from island to island.

But as the year went on they noticed Demi talking to walls, getting easily distracted, and overall being rather loopy. They loved her but were worried for her sanity. As a result her time in the Void was restricted.

Elora sighed, Demi was an adult now and she had to accept that. They both did.

Demetri slowly sighed as he looked at Demi, "You promise us you'll be careful?"

Demi nodded eagerly as she sat up on her knees in her seat. She smiled widely, maybe they would stop berating her.

"Pinky promise!" Her long hair bounced around her.

"Are you seeing anything right now?" Kekoa asked as she leaned closer.

Demi looked around, seeing the familiar little creature that'd been following her for a couple days.

"His name is Ollie." Demi nodded astutely, it chirped at her happily.

She once again giggled as the yellow, mini dragon-thing danced along the table.

Demetri who had stood to get a stronger drink, kissed her forehead on his way to the kitchen.

"Alright sweetheart," he patted her shoulder.

Knox did his duty as an older brother, changing the subject to include everyone in a lighter conversation.

Demi was relieved as she was able to continue her dinner, happy to be back with her family.
