Twenty One
Onyx forced himself awake, the absence of Demi's warmth pushing him up.
He heard footsteps outside of her bedroom and growled when he didn't sense Demi anywhere in the room with him.
The bedroom door opened and he relaxed at the sight of his mate, he groaned as he rubbed his face tiredly. He saw it was only 9:30.
He looked at Demi once more, seeing she'd gotten dressed. This was the first time he'd slept late, in years. His black eyes darted to the tray of food in her hand.
Demi glanced up, "Why'd you wake up! It was supposed to be a surprise!"
Onyx's shoulders slumped and he moved to get up. "You didn't have to do that Demi," he shook his head. She gave him a sharp look to stay put.
"I figured you hadn't had breakfast in bed in a while," She smiled up at him widely.
More like ever. He tried to hold himself together without completely melting at his adorable mate.
"You have to eat it with me," he leaned back to make room with her.
She hopped over to him in another small white dress. He gripped her cheeks as she got closer to kiss her hard.
Demi fumbled with the food but put it down safely as she climbed on top of Onyx. They kissed passionately, both moaning in satisfaction.
"спасибо, thank you."
His words vibrated her as he spoke between kisses. She mumbled a response before she sucked on his bottom lip.
"Eat now," she pulled away to breathe. He glanced down to see eggs, pancakes, and toast. The same thing he'd ordered when they ate out.
He didn't move away, just rest his head on her shoulder. He himself was shocked by the turn of events this morning, but he figured it was inevitable.
Onyx shivered when he remembered that heat was a thing that existed. He enjoyed his and Demi's current pace, he didn't want anything forcing them.
He dragged her into his lap, her chest against his while straddling him. Onyx began eating as she got comfortable.
He glanced down to her white dress.
He toyed with the end, "This is nice."
Demi hummed as she bit some of the pancakes off of his fork. "The girl in the advertisement had nicer boobs than I do."
She was glancing around them at random things as he watched her.
He squinted at her statement and looked down at her chest. He blinked a couple times as he tried to think of words to assure her that she had phenomenal boobs.
"There's nobody with better tits," he slipped.
She snapped out of her daze to look at him surprised. Her fingers came up and she gripped her chest, "They're small."
He bit the inside of his cheek at the sight. "Nah," he drawled as he stared at them openly. "'Like the way they fit in my hands."
Demi felt her face heat up, as did Onyx's as he placed his hands over her own.
"Did you like the breakfast?" She asked.
He was momentarily distracted while gripping her tits, doing a double take when he registered her breakfast.
"Yeah, 'nicest thing someone's done for me."
Demi frowned, breakfast was the nicest thing?
"It wasn't that much," she tilted her head.
He shrugged as he palmed her butt, standing up with her.
She squealed in surprise as he also grabbed the tray with his other hands. Demi was happy to be carried but as Onyx walked downstairs she was beginning to see things again.
Today was one of her bad days, she'd almost ruined Onyx's breakfast with everything distracting her.
Suddenly Demi was sat on the kitchen counter, she jolted at the cold.
"Demi, were you listening? Are you feeling okay?"
She blinked multiple times to try and rid the colors from her vision. Onyx furrowed his brow and took a step closer, he had been talking to Demi about the Geneva raid. He'd put the dishes away and noticed she was staring far away.
"Fine, fine, fine," she repeated too fast.
"Look at me," he grumbled while gripping her face tight. He felt her forehead, seeing if she had a fever.
Her reactions were delayed as she dragged her eyes up to him. There were so many creatures flying around the room. Ollie had brought his whole family today.
"I'm just," her voice was minuscule. Demi was usually soft toned but not this much.
"I'm just having a headache," she swallowed hard.
Her narrowed his eyes in suspicion. He already knew Demi struggled with her magic and seeing certain thing, but she's never given him the entire run down.
"I know about your magic... side effects? You can tell me," he put his hands on his hips.
Demi grumbled, digging the heels of her palms into her eyes. "No, I have no idea what you're talking about."
He grunted in displeasure while dislodging her hands from her eyes. She could barely meet his stare.
"I don't want to tell you about it... it's weird."
Onyx grunted in displeasure, "It's not weird. I've never been a fan of Witches, but I've never seen... any magic better than yours."
"My moms magic is kinda cool though..."
Onyx rolled his eyes.
"You're missing the point. You're not weird, you're impressive." He took a deep breath while trying to comfort her, "You don't have to be embarrassed about anything around me."
Demi rest her chin on his chest, staring at him with her big eyes.
"I see a lot more than auras and magic," she whispered.
He brushed her hair behind her ears, letting her continue.
"When I teleport I go into this place we call the Void, it's like... a reverse world. Everything looks funny, colors exist there that aren't here... usually I guess." She worried her lip as she looked around as if to check.
"And I see things that don't live in this world, like that guy," she pointed to Ollie who looked at her with a slow blink. Onyx followed her finger and saw nothing as usual.
"His names Ollie he's like a tiny yellow dragon with fur he's very nice. He doesn't like you a lot though, he says he thinks your mean," Demi rambled.
"But I told him that wasn't cool, don't worry I defended you."
He nodded while mildly confused, trying to keep up. "Sometimes the two worlds mesh when I use my magic a lot. I feel... hazy, sometimes I'm confused." Her eyes began to water a little in embarrassment.
"It started when I was 11 and that's when Witches grow into their magic. When they're young they have access to basic magic rather than their specific talents. I started to wake up in random rooms, heard things talking to me that weren't around, saw things happen that didn't make any sense. I-I mean it's beautiful half of the things I've seen but no one ever understood. E-Everyone made it seem like a bad thing," she hiccuped.
"None of my friends wanted to be around me, all of my siblings had such a good handle on their magic and I was so behind." Onyx frowned and wiped at her tears, he squeezed her thigh gently.
"I know it's not a big deal but no one shuts up about it. Demi saw this, Demi did that, I mean come on-" she huffed.
She took a deep breath before sighing, looking back up at Onyx who'd been quiet.
"I didn't want to tell you because no one's ever reacted in a good way," she nibbled on her pouty lip while fiddling with her fingers.
He hummed while tugging her lip out from between her teeth.
"Demi I don't know what I did to deserve you. I don't deserve you actually," he sighed breathily. He brushed the pad of his thumb over her pout.
"I couldn't think of a more perfect person," he admitted. "I'll never care about stupid shit like that. Talkin' to walls isn't the end of the world, hm?"
Her eyes watered as she kissed it, trailing kisses to his other fingers.
"You mean that?"
Onyx didn't hesitate to nod, "With everything in me."
"I think you're perfect," she held his large palm in her two hands before cradling it to her cheek.
"Stop," he mumbles as he brings her down from the counter.
"It's true!" She insisted with a stomp of her foot.
He gave her a look that screamed 'I completely disagree'.
"Just stay close to me today, yeah?" he mumbles down to her. "Tell me if you need to leave, I'll take you away."
Demi smiled genuinely up at him, she'd never felt so secure in their mateship as she did at this moment.
"Where are we going today?" She wrapped her arms around his beefy bicep.
"With you're parents to the Council Hall. Some dumb meeting about what we're doing."
Demi nodded with her cheek smushed against his arm.
She flinched at a screech reverberating around her, she shut her eyes tight reminding herself that it couldn't hurt her.
Onyx released a low rumble, instinct urging him on to comfort her. She slackened at the sound, opening her eyes. He gripped an apple for her to eat later and led her to the living room.
Demi kept her head down, her hair swaying around her legs as little creatures ran through her feet. They had mushroom heads, which drew a giggle from her.
Onyx made eye contact with Demetri as they entered the foyer. Demetri saw his daughter stepping carefully around thin air.
Her father frowned immediately and nudged Elora to alert her.
Both parents were obviously discouraged, it pained them to see Demi so lost.
"I have to change, Demi," he muttered to her as he nodded at her parents.
She glanced up, aware that he was shirtless and in shorts in front of anyone. She turned to stand in front of him, blocking her parents and her brothers view. Somewhat.
It drew a chuckle from them and a smile on Onyx's face. Knox however stopped grinning when he saw hickeys scattered over Onyx's chest. He coughed as he choked on his spit.
"I'll take you to your place to change?" Demi asked with a tilt of her head.
"You don't have to," he didn't get to finish as Demi teleported them to his room.
While he was getting dressed in his bathroom, Demi looked over his room. He hadn't been unpacked much. It looked like he'd barely been here the past week and a half.
"Dress warm, it's autumn over there."
Demi called as she picked up some of his clothing from the floor. It wasn't messy, but it was obvious he'd left in a hurry last time he was here.
"Demi you're in a sundress," he sounded back.
She bit her cheek at the fact, "I'm going to change real quick!"
She heard Onyx question her but she teleported quick.
She teleported back onto his bed promptly. She wore a black denim mini skirt with tan fur lining the bottom of it. A black long sleeve was underneath a matching half jacket. She wore thigh high socks and booties.
Demi stood and lifted her leg to fix her shoe, just as Onyx stepped out.
Her jaw dropped at his outfit, he looked good.
He was tightening his belt as he walked closer, focusing on that.
Demi almost swallowed her tongue but gathered herself. Onyx glanced up and did a double take, he blinked.
"Fuck, princess. What're you wearing?" he husked.
Demi sucked in a breath, pressing her thighs together tightly.
"A skirt?" she toyed with the end of it. He grumbled in response as he came closer. She gripped his belt while she peered up at him.
He ran his hands down her thighs, brushing the thigh highs slowly.
"I'm gonna' have to kill somebody," he muttered as he looked over her outfit. She was so pretty.
She shook her head, dismissing his warning.
"You look very handsome, Onyx."
He inhaled sharply at the compliment. He couldn't remember the last time he was described as handsome.
"Thanks," it came out choked.
"Hate dressing up for this Council shit, don't know how you're parents do it." Demi smiled at his grumpy tone, leaning up to kiss him.
"Well, we'll just be observing. All the questions should be directed to my parents, everyone should be civil there."
