Demi was bidding everyone goodbye as Onyx clasped hands with Georgie.

It'd taken a couple days to properly plan the trip to Onyx's previous pack.

Bear patted his back as Onyx sighed.

"You kinda dug yourself in a hole not telling her sooner," he winced.

Onyx glared, "I'm aware. Fuck, this is going to suck."

Onyx pushed his hair out of his face and glanced at Demi who was speaking animatedly to her brothers.

"It'll be fine, bossman," Quincey assured.

"Like anything ever ends up being fine, around here."

Soon enough, Elora was opening a portal for them to drive through. The idea is that they could cut down the drive time with the portal on the way. Onyx didn't want Demi having to teleport long distances unless absolutely necessary so when they decided to leave they could take the truck.

His mate reached and tugged his hand into her lap. Onyx glanced at her grip and back to the gravel road they rolled down. They were approaching the territory as the portal closed behind them.

"We're about a couple miles away," he informed her.

"Are you alright, Onyx? You've been quieter than usual." She knew he wasn't alright, obviously this wasn't his favorite place.

"I'll be fine..." he trailed off as they sped towards the pack lines.

He inhaled sharply as familiar terrain came into view, he slowed to a stop. He didn't want to cross into enemy lines unannounced. The warriors should sense him soon enough.

"Demi... I should tell you something before we-"

A howl sounded.

Onyx cussed lowly, throwing the door open angrily.

Demi reached for her door before Onyx growled, "Stay in the car!"

He gave her a pointed look and watched Demi throw her hands up before crossing her arms angrily. He saw her speaking to herself, obviously annoyed.

Onyx snarled as a dozen Wolves surrounded him and the car. The Wolves paused as the registered his stifling presence.

They backed up slowly, but the head warrior snarled at them to hold their ground.

Onyx glowered at them, raising his hands to signal he meant no harm.

"I need to speak to the current Alpha."

A man shifted, he had some sense of authority but he wasn't a Beta.

Onyx rose a brow at the naked man. "Should I repeat myself?"

The stranger growled, "Why should so I take orders from you?"

Onyx narrowed his eyes, looking among the Wolves. They were all young, barely 18. If they had been too young to understand what happened, they may not know his ties here.

Behind him, he heard another Wolf approaching. He rolled his eyes and before he could do something about it the Wolf lunged.

Demi appeared, teleporting to intercept the wolf.

She used her magic again, disappearing for a moment with the Wolf and reappeared to toss it mid-air.

The Witch fell back down in front of Onyx gracefully. Tilting her head as the Wolf smacked into a tree, a resounding crack following.

She looked over the Wolves, "Could you get the Alpha's please? I'm sure it'd go a lot smoother?"

The warriors in charge swallowed harshly as Onyx dragged Demi behind him. He pressed her between the car and himself.

Demi was drawing patterns on Onyx's back as she waited. Her mate was snarling at the men in a completely different mood than her.

"Tell your Alpha The Onyx Wolf is here to see him." Onyx repeated for the final time, his claws extending.

Demi looked around and saw everyone shifting, their nakedness on display. Her face fell back in between his shoulder blades.

Onyx did sneer but stayed stoic, discreetly reaching back to grip her waist.

"What could The Onyx Wolf and some Witch want with our pack?"

Demi scoffed loudly. Some Witch?! She'd show him what kind of Witch she was.

Onyx eyed her carefully, practically hearing her thoughts.

"I'd watch your tone if I were you," Onyx warned.

Pounding feet sounded before a man came into view.

He was tall, built sturdy but Demi narrowed her eyes. He wasn't built like an Alpha necessarily.

Alpha's, like Onyx, were built to exude dominance. They were someone who you would struggle to look in the eye.

Demi could look this man in the eye just fine.

Onyx was thinking the same thing.

"Jude. I asked for the Alpha," he growled lowly. Demi slid out despite her mates pushing, standing besides him.

Demi looked in curiosity, so Onyx knew him.

The man who was blonde with dark green eyes, he waved a hand to gesture to the land.

"I'm standing in for now." Jude sighed as he stared at Onyx as if he was an alien.

"What the hell are you doing here? I mean... it's been years."

"It has."

Jude rubbed his brow at the less than forthcoming response.

"Where's Lancaster?" Onyx asked.

"Dead. Or assumed dead for now as Beta I'm the acting Alpha at the moment. You really have a shit way of timing, Griffin."

Onyx almost winced at the name. Demi didn't react outwardly but her mind was spiraling.

Who was Griffin? Surely not Onyx? If he was named Griffin he would have told her? Right? He would trust her enough to tell her?

"You don't get to call me that anymore, not after what happened here. I go by Onyx, respect that."

Jude nodded, "Can I ask again why you're here?"

"We have intel on an enemy to the Legion that is camping around here. We were wondering if you could lend a hand. It'd go far with the council, maybe they could help you out here?" Onyx nodded to their pack that was doing not so good.

"And they sent you?" Jude laughed in disbelief.

"And me." Demi's voice was sharp and drew all of the mens attention.

"And who might you be, beautiful?" Jude rose a brow.

Onyx snarled loudly, the wolf warriors whimpered and bowed. Jude visibly flinched at the sound of a true Alpha.

She nodded her head to the man next to her. "His mate. Demi Bordoa," She gave a forced smile when she announced her last name.

Jude and everyone baulked when she announced she was Onyx's mate. And were entirely more shocked to hear she was a Bordoa.

"I mean really," Demi grunted. "The family resemblance is pretty in your face." She tilted her head as she watched all of them. Her white hair and yellow eyes now eerily obvious.

"You have a mate?" Jude asked breathlessly.

Onyx nodded as he glared at him.

"They were wrong?" he asked again. Onyx's glare lessened only a little before nodding again.

Jude rubbed his brow again, a nervous habit Demi supposed. "If the Legion needs you here so be it. I'm assuming your talking about the humans that have been lurking around? We've killed a couple of them."

The Beta turned and waved for them to follow him. Onyx glanced down to Demi but she kept her head forward as they trailed behind him.

"Are you staying for a while?" Jude asked.

"As long as necessary," Demi informed.

"Then we'll get you a cabin."

Onyx opened his mouth to try and say something to Demi. They were following Jude through the woods as someone drove the truck to the cabin they'd be staying at.

He watched her stumble a bit ahead of him, not glancing over with her arms wrapped around herself. She was upset.

Onyx reached for her gently, she didn't pull away but otherwise didn't react. Her hazel eyes never glanced his way, staying stuck to the forrest floor.

"Princess," he tugged her closer to his side.

She rubbed her temple slowly, her brow furrowing. He saw she was beginning to get a headache, the cold weather probably wasn't helping.

He told her to dress warm, but Demi still refused pants as she was in a sweater dress.

Demi was simultaneously irritated and soothed at Onyx's touch.

"How much farther?" Onyx grunted, they weren't going to what used to be the pack house. He tugged Demi closer to keep her warm.

She still stayed silent.

Right now he craved her ramblings.

Soon they reached the seemingly new building. Both were sat in an office across from Jude.

"What're the humans up to?" He asked almost boredly.

Demi narrowed her eyes. "You've killed how many of them but haven't bothered to find out what their doing?" She bounced her foot, glancing around her.

Jude didn't answer and she continued.

"To sum it up they're taking witches, strapping them to machines and sucking them of their magic. They brainwash them and kill them off as if they're nothing. So maybe next time a human is wandering around on supernatural territory? Stop and ask why."

Demi grit her teeth as she stared down the Wolf. He couldn't meet her eye and Onyx was looking at her. His face was blank but his eyes were concerned.

"We didn't know," Jude shook his head.

"Did you even want to?" she spit out.

Onyx put a hand on her knee as he leaned forward.

"We're going to be here for a while, tracking down their exact location and gather information. Would that be something you're interesting in?"

Jude sighed and he looked at Demi guiltily. "The Legion would help us? Help the pack?"

"They would."

Jude nodded, "Our warriors are yours. Make yourself at home I suppose. You can brief them tomorrow?"

Onyx nodded and looked at Demi who stood up. Before he could say anything she teleported.

Jude stood in shock at the sight.

"Witches can do that now?"

Onyx groaned in annoyance, "Only her. Lucky me."

"Yeah, very lucky actually," Jude leaned back in his chair as the news of Onyx having a mate still shocked him.

Onyx sobered up and nodded.

"She said you would never... never have anything, Griffin-Onyx." Jude held out his hands as if to emphasize his point.

"I'm completely aware. I thought about it damn near every day," Onyx barked. "I found her and I thought it was a trick. I don't- I don't know what it means. But she's mine."

Jude looked at the man he'd known since childhood. Seeing him transform into someone he almost couldn't recognize.

"You look good, better than you've been."

"Yeah well it obviously had some physical affects."

"You're damn right," Onyx used to have chestnut brown hair, tanned skin, and gray eyes as a teen.

"I'm going to find my mate." Onyx promptly left without another word, sniffing around for her scent.

how do you think demi would react? how would you react?

just for the stories sake and readers understanding, Onyx will only be referred to as Griffin in !dialogue! not in the narrative and writing itself
