Forty Six

Demi brushed Onyx's growing hair behind his ears.

He was sat next to her as he looked over the coordinates they'd gotten of the scientists land.

He had been mapping out and marking their best route of attack.

"You're gorgeous," Demi tilted her head as she sat in his lap. Staring at the side of his face.

Onyx spluttered abruptly, looking at her with wide eyes.

Demi bit her lip as she smirked at his embarrassment. "What? What's the matter, gorgeous?"

"S-Stop that."

"No." She toyed with the collar of his shirt, her doe eyes batting up at him.

"You... you say all of these naughty things but gods forbid I call you pretty sometimes."

"You like all the naughty things I say."

"And you like it when I call you gorgeous, I can see it in your eyes," she pushed her forehead against his own, nose to nose as she stared deeply into his gaze.

Onyx barked a laugh, pushing her away to look back at his map.

"Princess, you could call me all the names under the sun and I'd still swoon over you."

Demi squealed quietly, wrapping her arms around his shoulder and stuffing her face in his shoulder.

He hummed and rubbed his hand over her back, he craned his head to look at her. "You wanna' give me another set of eyes for this?"

Demi peaked over to look at the land, "My set of eyes are crazy."

"All the better."

The two spent the next few hours looking and bouncing around ambush strategies

"What do you want to do when we're all done with this?" Demi looked up at her mate.

Onyx glanced down and kissed her cheek, "Wanna get our land. Been talking to your dad about where to settle. We can have your wedding there, then we're trying for pups."

Demi smiled, "Yeah?"

Onyx licked his lips while staring down at her, nodding slowly. "Sound good to you?"

"Sounds good to me, oh my gosh we can decorate our own house!"

Onyx chuckled and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. Just as he was about to respond his eyes glazed over while Quincey mind linked him.

He suddenly winced.

Demi narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

"Okay-" he started as he looked at her sheepishly. She crossed her arms and leaned against the desk they sat at, looking unamused.

"The wolves from my old pack are coming to help with the attack."

Demi frowned and groaned loudly. "What the hell, they freaking suck Onyx!"

"I know baby but-"

Demi pursed her lips, "They are not nice to you!" She poked his chest to emphasize.

"They need to pay their dues if they want to get anything from the Legion. You're parents brought up the idea, they asked if I was comfortable with that. Why not take advantage of the extra man power? Spare your dads army some soldiers?"

Her face was sour, cheeks puffed out and arms crossed tightly. This was her parents idea?

"Can you forgive me princess, hm?" Onyx nudged his nose against her own. She huffed quietly, "I just hate how they treated you."

"I know," he rubbed up her thighs. "It's cute how protective you get."

"Is mass murder cute because I'm this close, gorgeous." She held up her fingers that were practically touching.

He smirked to himself before pinching her thigh, "The catch is that they're here now."

Demi whined loudly, running her hand through her hair and tugging frustratedly.

"They're meeting them at the gates now?"

Her mate slowly nodded. Demi gripped his shirt tightly and teleported them.

Onyx stumbled at the abrupt force of nature his mate was, his body feeling the jolt of magic. Demi obviously was more fluid, walking seamlessly towards the two dozen wolf warriors her parents spoke to.

Her father glanced back only to do a double take at his daughter stalking forward. Onyx almost tripping to keep up with her.

"Honey," Demetrius nudged his mate nervously.

Elora swatted at his hand for a second as she spoke to Jude about accommodations.

When she felt the anxiety of her mate spike, Elora turned and blanched at the angry mini witch approaching them.

Elora covered her mouth as she watched Demi glanced around the open grass. When she came up short for whatever she was looking for she quickly began gripping one of her shoes, almost toppling over.

Demetrius ducked as a small ballet flat was chucked at his head.

"I'm not happy!" She stomped her bare foot while staring up at her parents. Onyx was wincing while scratching the back of his head.

Sometimes, only sometimes, does it slip his mind how much of a brat Demi was.

"I know sweetheart but-"

"No but- if they did half the things they did to mom... hell if they did anything to dad, they'd be dead! All of them!" Demi waved dramatically to the wolves behind them. She sniffled with a pout on her lips, "They hurt Onyx and I-I don't understand why we need them here."

Onyx quickly came from his stupor and cradled her cheek, kissing by her eyes to deter any tears.

"Demi, you know I love you," Elora started gently. Because she couldn't necessarily blame her daughter, where Demi throws a fit and cries- Elora would throw a fit and murder. So she was willing to deal with this.

"But let's take a deep breath, think about it like this. They get a chance at redemption while helping our cause. You know we wouldn't let anything happen to Onyx."

Demi huffed as her mate was still pressing gentle kisses to her temple and jaw.

"C'mon princess," he rumbled in her ear. His tone was a little stern, nudging her with his front firmly.

She rolled her lips and leaned over to peek at the small wolf army behind her parents. She saw Jude give her a sheepish smile.

She glowered but nodded slowly. Elora cheered quietly and Demetrius sighed in relief.

"I'm going to be mean to them."

"We know," they all blurted.

Demi sat in a white mini dress, with chunky straps holding it up. She perched herself on a metal fence beam as Georgie explained the plan of attack to the wolves outside.

Onyx leaned against the beam as well, dark sunglasses making him look drool worthy. Demi kicked her feet that were still bare while staring at her mates profile.

Onyx rolled his head lazily to glance at her from under the shades, she momentarily swooned.

"You look hot," she whispered to him. Demi did not care that Georgie was currently preparing soldiers for battle.

He smirked slyly, leaning over to peck her lips before nodding for her to focus.

She only scooted closer and wrapped her arms around his large bicep. She cradled it to her chest, "Did you notice I wore white for you?" Demi's glossy lips pulled in a faux innocent grin.

Onyx hummed while glancing at her small, tight little dress. "All for me? My pretty little fiancé."

She giggled quietly and rest her cheek on his shoulder. Demi blinked back into focus, trying to Georgie's words.

To be honest, she can only focus on these things when Onyx speaks them. Everything else sounds like static as the colors around them faded in and out.

Demi tried to focus, she really did but ended up blinking really hard. It was beginning to cause a headache.

Soon enough, Georgie finished up and the group dispersed. She'd have to ask Onyx for the run down.

Her mate rubbed her knee before striding over to his vampire companion for a moment. Demi tapped her toes against the lowest metal beam, the sun beaming on her.

"You look bored here, is battle really that trivial to you?" An unfamiliar voice piped up. Demi glanced up sharply to see a blonde boy, younger than her. Probably barely 17 glaring at her from a few feet away.

"Excuse me?" She rose a brow. Wondering why he was even speaking to her.

"You've hated us since you got to our pack. Now we come to help and you don't even look like you can pay attention, what are you stupid?"

Demi's eyes widened at the boys audacity. She hopped down to stand, the boy towering over her. But she wasn't scared.

"Your pack is here because you owe the Legion for all the shit they're about to give you. You can't dig yourself out of your own problems so you need hand outs. Don't act like you're on my level, wolf."

"On you're level?" The blonde scoffed. "You act like you're better than us-"

"I am."

"You're not! You're just some ditsy bitch! You got lucky enough to be mates to an alpha wolf and now you think your important."

Demi furrowed her brow. Was he confused? Did he not know who she was?

"...I'm confused. Obviously, you're lacking on a bit of information. Are you new here?" She looked around as if to find his parents.

She only saw a fuming Onyx stalking over.

"Oops, now you've done it."

Onyx snagged the boy by his medium length, dirty blonde hair. The kid cried out as Onyx lifted him up by it.

"Who the fuck are you talking to?" The cursed Alpha snarled.

The wolf boy didn't even try to respond, further irritating her mate.

He forced the boy to look over at his mate, then craned his neck to Elora and Demetrius in the distance.

"You think the Bordoa family needs to waste their breath on scum like you? Cornering my mate when I walk away- fucking coward."

Demi twisted her lips to the side, cornered was a strong word.

Blondie had paled at the realization of his mistake. His mistake of thinking Demi was a woman who relied on her mates status to get by. No, Demi had an entire reputation she built on her own.

Onyx surged his knee into the boys gut, throwing a hard jab to his jaw. He fell down limp, unconscious.

"You didn't have to do that, gorgeous," Demi hummed to her mate.

Onyx grunted with a hard frown as he kicked the boy away. "That's the second time you've knocked someone out for me," Demi hopped over towards the Georgie.

Onyx gripped her hand and tugged her into his chest, he was visibly upset.

"Why didn't you come get me?" he asked quietly.

"He wasn't very threatening. I would've been okay... and I thought you were busy," she pouted up at him while standing on her tip toes.

He only grumbled under his breath. "Doesn't matter. Come get me next time," he ran his fingers through her slightly knotty hair. He almost smiled, knowing he'd be brushing it out tonight.

Geoegie approached them while stepping over the wolfs body.

"They're all set, Alpha. I know you and Demetri wanted to attack within the next two days. They're going to send their wolves out to scope the lands with a lycan in charge. Sound good?"

Onyx nodded swiftly, planning the next step to himself. Demi linked their fingers, "We're going in two days?"

Both men looked at her with a raised brow. "Yes Demi."

"Did... did we already talk about this?"

Both nodded to which the witch sighed, her mate tugging her closer. "It's okay, baby. I'll tell you later."

Demi hummed while nodding, "I'll probably just wing it anyways."

"Demi no."
