Forty Seven

Demi sat with her legs splayed out in the grass. She was dressed in a black dress that had slits up the legs, exactly like her mothers for combat.

She had a lollipop hanging from her mouth as Onyx paced behind her.

Demi still was fuzzy on the plan. No matter how many Onyx tried to explain it to her last night.

But she knew her part, find Barney!

Find Barney Clarke and snap his neck, Demi giggled to herself.

Onyx and his pack- as well as warriors from his old pack were around. They were currently surrounding the location they'd found.

There were three human hideouts left. They were all in the same country but spread through different regions. There were three teams attacking simultaneously across the lands.

The biggest group was currently here, since this was the largest compound. Her parents and Onyx's pack were here.

Kekoa and Lacey lead an attack on the east and her older brothers were attacking the west. In approximately ten minutes.

In ten minutes all three positions would be compromised.

Demi's eyes widened when her mate squatted in front of her.

He gripped her cheeks in one hand, forcing her to focus on him.

"Princess you have to tell me if your magic is acting up too much."

Even she had to admit she was more out of it than usual. Less present in what was happening around her.

In her moments of clarity she worried about if Onyx resented her for being the way she was. But whenever he felt the insecurity he always reassured her.

"I'm good," she leaned forward as she whispered. "I'm sorry I've been a handful the past few days."

Her mates gaze softened and caressed her face gently. "You're worth it Demi, I just- I have to know you'll be safe. We can figure something out if todays not the day."

Demi shook her head, her abnormally long hair was in two tight braids down her back.

"I can do it. If I don't, then we have to wait longer to get started on our future! And we owe it to those people he's hurt." Demi lurched forward to peck his lips playfully.

A worried smile tugged at his lips smally. "Yeah," he sighed. "You're the best thing I've ever done, you know that?"

Her hazel eyes widened a little and he saw the yellow ring glow for a second with a surge of emotions.

She gave him a watery grin, he kissed her slowly. Demi suddenly pulled away when she heard a baritone drum sound through the woods. Her mothers magic gave a signal only she could hear that it was time.

Slowly, Demi stood and kissed her mate hard once more. "Okay, be safe. If you get hurt I'm going to kill you. Just kidding, but not really!"

Before he could find words to respond with she disappeared in a flash.

Georgie handed the Alpha a flare gun, Onyx glanced at it before staring at the building. He counted down.

He caught sight of flashing yellow light inside and immediately raised the flare. Without hesitation, he shot it.

Howls and roars echoed before an avalanche of warriors swept through the large compound.

Demi was almost disoriented by how fast she teleported through the large building. Her hazel eyes scanned her surroundings as she scowered for this man, having his image burned into her mind.

She bounced off walls as she moved through halls, tunnels, and rooms. She slit the throats of anyone she came across, outside the building the sounds of havoc rang.

Guns were aimed at her, Demi hopped around as someone approached her from behind.

Without thinking, she kicked her leg backwards. A scream rang through building as the soldier was launched through the window behind them.

Demi turned around with a surprised face, waving to the woman who plummeted from the second story.

In her distracted state, a stun gun was shot at her calf. Demi hissed as pain shut up her body, seizing her.

Demi crumpled for a second but the feet stomping towards her she kicked herself into gear.

Quickly teleporting behind the Human warriors, Demi threw her elbow into one's head. Kicking into his side and hearing his ribs break.

The other Human tried to hit her but Demi caught their fist, "Don't you guys get tired of losing?"

She proceeded to fling the man over her shoulder, stomping her boot onto his head. She continued to do this until he was a bloody unconscious mess.

She felt a shiver go up her back as she heard her mates commanding howl. Demi was rapidly making her way through the properties. It was imperative for her to cover as much ground as possible.

If she couldn't find this mad scientist in time, everything would be for nothing. This would never end.

Demi spun in a circle as she stood on the roof of the larger building she'd searched in seconds. Nothing was left alive inside. She looked at the building next to this one, it was smaller and shorter than this one. She took a running start to jump off the edge.

Demi landed in stride and sprinting towards the steps, beginning the same pattern of rapid teleporting.

She tried to catch her breath as she was on the third floor, it was too quiet. She hadn't had to kill anyone yet.

Her brow twitched when she heard a quiet clatter of something falling in the other room.

Out in the field, Onyx tackled down multiple soldiers. The Humans were completely caught off guard, it was almost sad. They did have some type of prototype weapons that blasted magic at them.

It would be an effective weapon if they were more prepared. So far he felt no casualties as Elora took them out by the dozen.

He'd give them that, there was more soldiers than he'd anticipated.

Apply more pressure! They're backing down, show them the true beasts they're so afraid of! Onyx roared through the mind link. All of the wolves were under his command as the Bordoa's fought as a unit as well. Lycan warriors hitting the east end hard.

He spared a glance up, his heart stuttering as he watched Demi jump from building to building moving in a blur.

Please be safe, he muttered through the bond. But he knew Demi was too busy in the void to possibly hear him.

From behind him, a human managed to shoot one of the magic guns at his hind leg. He snarled in pain and quickly got himself back together as the skin of his leg sizzled.

Onyx lunged, tearing into the man who shot him. He was faster than these humans, he just had to stay focused even if his mate was uncomfortably far.

Demi walked slowly, tilting her head as she stared into the room she'd heard a noise from.

There was a labyrinth of counter tops in the large room. They were all white, everything looking sterile besides the mess of weapons and papers strewn over an area towards the back. A mass of windows made up the anterior wall.

"Barney," Demi sang as she bit her lip in anticipation. "I've been dyin' to meet you. Man of the hour. I've got a whole pack of guys waiting to tear you apart. Cmon, dont be a bitch."

She teleported suddenly, a few yards forward with a loud clunk of her shoes. To signal to him she was getting closer.

"You've got girls of mine I need you to return back to their homes. You've taken what isn't yours, we don't take kindly to that. The magic community... well you know we have the reputation of being crazy," she laughed outright.

Her magic sparked to teleport her once more, but suddenly the mad scientist jumped up from his hiding spot. He panted, sweating aggressively.

"Stay right there!" He barked. Demi looked over him calmly, he had red balding hair. He was the true definition of middle aged white man, dripping in stress sweat.

She didn't hide her unimpressed face.

"I-I have a bomb," He held up a rectangle box wrapped in tape with his finger on the trigger, in his right hand. "And I have this, this shoots a collar that prevents magic use. You will cooperate or you die!" His voice shook as his blue eyes were blood shot.

"This wasn't how it was supposed to go!" He screamed as spit flew. Demi rose a brow with an otherwise straight face. "I was supposed to get you and your mother all to myself! All that power! It would've been mine!"

"I'm not yours."

Clarke scoffed, "Yeah that damn excuse for a Wolf! You really think he's going to deal with your insanity for long!"

She fought the anger that churned in her stomach, "You won't be alive to find out. Isn't that something? You've been obsessed with the same power that's going to kill your? Whether it's me or another sorry son of a bitch that has to look at you."

The scientist shook, moving slowly with his back to the wall of windows. Demi's eyes flickered between his and the bomb. Slowly, Clarke aimed the collar gun at Demi's neck.

Demi inhaled and exhaled slowly. Her heart thudded in her ears as she began to phase out, Clarke's eyes widening at the sight of her teleporting.

In a burst of light, then another right in front of him she lunged for the bomb. Demi grunted as in the struggle, Clarke's legs gave out when Demi punched his throat harshly.

And then all hell broke loose. Clarke fell back and broke through the window. He let go of the collared gun to grip Demi desperately, her own eyes widened as they both fall down the third story.

To Demi it was happening in slow motion, her magic kicking in to teleport away and let the bastard fall to his death.

But that was before he let go of the bomb and it created a large explosion between the two. Demi screeched as it singed her, sending her flying to the ground.

Both were blasted to opposite ends of the field. Demi gasped as she attempted to gain her breath, having it knocked out of her as her arms burned.

Somehow, Clarke had managed to break his fall on three of the fallen human soldiers. He stumbled up, horribly disfigured as his skin was burnt to a crisp. He screamed out, the pain unbearable.

His vision was blurred and he could tell the battle was ending. It was a loosing battle to begin with.

His mind spun, they never even had a chance. All this work only to be wiped out with one big attack.

He blinked, Clarke zeroed in on the collar gun that had landed near by him.

Demi sluggishly pushed herself up, ears ringing as all the sounds came back slowly. She wasn't too badly damaged, all considered.

She dragged her head up, only to be met with a collar flying towards her.

It was a bullseye and she choked as her body flung back from the force.

She felt the metal clamp down on her throat, a beep of activation sounded. Demi's pupils shrunk in alarm, the sound around her suddenly going mute.

The sound of the void, the music of magic around her going silent. The entire connection to her magic side was ripped away abruptly, a pained scream tearing from her throat.

She clawed at the metal, feeling weak as her magic was blocked off with the machine. She felt claustrophobic, hyperventilating.

Demi saw Clarke approaching and lurched back, her mind spun and her body was confused at this sudden change. She was woozy. She reached wildly for a weapon, she was going to kill him.

Warm hands gripped her shoulder and she screamed in fright, tears flooding her cheeks. Her mates comfort did nothing for her as she was painfully aware she didn't hear his magic approaching like usual.

"Griffin! Get it off! Get it off, I can't breathe!" She sobbed as her nails dug into the skin of her neck to pry it off.

"Baby, fuck! Look at me, you're going to hurt yourself. We're going to fix it!"

Clarke barked a laugh, "Hardly! The side effects of those things are irregular! Punishing! We have no idea the long term effect!"

Demi was still hysterical, baring her teeth before gripping a knife strapped to her thigh. She snarled as she lunged out of her mates grasp.

The human, one of the last living ones there, cried out but still wasn't quick enough. Demi sent the knife into his gut, dragging it up before twisting it.

He coughed in shock, blood spluttering.

Demi sneered as she wiped her cheeks. "I don't need magic to kill you," she spat.

Her knife was wrenched out before kicking him to the ground. Demi's eyes fluttered as she went limp for a moment. Onyx caught her and panted as he brought her down to his lap, looking up panicked as Elora ran up.

"I..." Demi swallowed as she tried to focus her vision. Her hand reached to hold his jaw. "I can't think," everything was fuzzy. Nothing made sense, it was all gray. All the color to her world was gone.

The random words and thoughts that perforated her mind and stream of consciousness as well as the creatures keeping her company were gone.

There was no color to her world.

"Onyx it's so quiet," she whispered scaredly.

"We're going to fix it baby, I promise."

Just as her mother fell to her knees next to her, her glowing hands reaching to her neck. She blinked a couple times before falling unconscious.

What happens now?
~

i hated this. lmao the only reason it's so late is bc i had it written for a long time but couldn't think of how to improve it, hopefully u guys somewhat enjoyed it

this was not my fave battle to write, it was kinda anticlimactic with action but i also felt like it was realistic??

like?? cmon how much are humans going to do lmao the only reason they didn't die faster is cause they had to find them without spooking them too soon lolol

i might add something to it but i wanted to play with the idea of Demi with no magic since it is so defining to her but i also have written like the next fifteen chapters lmao

the only reason i'm okay with posting this chapter is bc this story has always been more focused on Onyx and Demi's relationship than the outside conflict sighhhh
