Fifty
Demi sat in the grass as she painted Delilah's nails.
They watched everyone constructing the foundation for many buildings. Ezra and Elora were using their magic to speed of the process.
Unfortunately, since Demi's magic wasn't entirely back and it wasn't suited for this type of hard labor- unless she wanted to use a hammer she was if no help. And no one wanted Demi around tools.
Go sit and don't touch anything, baby. Is what Onyx had told her.
They were a month into building. She was very excited seeing everything come together, she had a couple picnic baskets of food stored in the Void for when everyone was hungry.
She'd gotten a better hold on her magic. All of her magic was back but the problem was relearning to control it. Demi was having to recreate the barrier between the real world and void all over again.
She was grateful for it to be back but it was exhausting constantly fighting to keep yourself sane.
She blew on Delilah's pink nails slowly. "Very cute!"
Delilah grinned, she has been coming out of her shell around the others.
"Thank you, Luna."
The witch huffed, "What'd I say about the titles. We're friends. Besides, I don't feel like a Luna." Demi laughed as if it was preposterous.
Delilah shook her head in disagreement, "You've been taking care of the three of us. Always checking in to see how we're doing. That sounds like a Luna to me. Keeping us housed and fed."
Demi twisted her lips in thought, "...Or a really good friend."
Delilah giggled, Demi smiled while bringing a strawberry to her lips.
"You and Roman are doing good? I know what you guys have been through could strain a relationship."
Delilah smiled with a dreamy sigh. "He's always taken such good care of me. I couldn't ask for a better mate, and I'm so grateful for Levi. I mean- they're my family. Just like how this pack is my family now."
Demi was happy to hear, "I love young mates. I think it's a good way to prove that soulmates are a real thing. I mean, of course everyone knows they're real. But how often do you see teenagers fully commit to one another? I just think it's... well it's amazing."
She laid back in the field and felt Delilah do the same next to her.
"You know, Onyx never would've settled down if he didn't have a mate. I know that sounds crazy because people without soul mates fall in love all the time. But Onyx wouldn't have. He only cared about his pack mates- not even himself at that point."
Delilah looked at her Luna, who stared up at the clouds. She doesn't often hear Demi speak so seriously or reminiscently.
"I hope that when Roman and I get older we have everything figured out like you guys."
Demi laughed, "Trust me we don't have everything figured out. But I'll take that compliment."
Delilah gripped her left hand, looking over the rock on her finger.
"I still can't believe you guys are married- well almost. Usually I think everything humans do is stupid- but you guys found a way to make it feel romantic."
Demi smiled at the thought of her wedding, "We've been planning some stuff. We want to have it here so everything has to be built first. I still worry he doesn't really want to get married."
"Romans actually asked him about it, you should've seen him Demi I've never seen Alpha get so red so quickly!" Delilah exclaimed. "And he was stuttering! It was hilarious, but you could tell he was excited because he didn't stop us from asking questions like usual."
Onyx didn't speak to the teens very often, only checking up on how they're doing and overall keeping them safe. He was still adjusting to new comers.
"When I go dress shopping you should come with me and my family, I think it'd be fun," Demi linked her fingers with the young she wolf.
"Really?" Delilah whispered.
Demi nodded confidently and was surprised when Delilah hugged her.
She patted her back before waving her hand, the four baskets of food appearing.
"Let's get these guys fed, hm?"
Demi offered her arm to Delilah while they both held the baskets, soon they were teleported onto the construction sight.
She smiled and motioned for her mother and brother to come for food.
"Take a break for a little," Demi insisted. The food was set on one of the makeshift tables by them.
She brushed her hand over Delilah's shoulder as the younger girl called her mate and Levi over.
Demi left and teleported around as she searched for her own mate. She found Onyx crouched over a blueprint, he had a pencil bit between his teeth as he examined the layout.
Demi laid her front against his back, humming at the comfort of her mates touch.
He grunted as rubbed her arm in greetings as she wrapped them around his neck.
"Take a break, handsome." She kissed his ear gently as she rubbed his chest.
"I will later," he gripped the pencil to mark something down.
She finally registered what he was working so hard on.
It was their house.
She hadn't necessarily sat down and made a design with him. But one night, lying half asleep next to him she described her dream house. The next day he had showed her the designs he made.
Her mate was quite the architect. He'd designed a two story cottage, four bedrooms. Their's was on the first floor and there was three upstairs. One would be her art studio and there was a separate room attached to their bedroom that would act as Onyx's office.
She described a fire place and open kitchen where she could watch everything happening in the living room while they cooked.
"Griffin..." she trailed off as she was hit with the overwhelming feeling of love.
He glanced up with a furrowed brow and did a double take at the pout on her face.
"Do you not like it?"
She quickly plopped herself into Onyx's lap.
"I freaking love it. I know you worked so hard on it," she rest her head on his chest. Listening to the thud of his heart.
"It's all perfect."
"Not perfect yet, have to fix some things."
Demi looked at him sternly, "We could live in a shack and I'd be happy. You need to rest, get something to eat." She could see the tiredness on his face, cupping his cheek to keep his focus on her.
"It needs to be good enough for you, Demi. I'll eat something later."
She sighed heavily as she turned completely to gave him. "Griffin, look at me."
She once again had to bring his face from the blueprint back up to her.
"The fact that you're building this for us, is good enough for me. It's beyond good enough, it's like nothing I would've ever imagined for myself. You treat me like a princess and the house you build for us and our pups will be a home because of you."
She felt his shoulder finally relax a little, thumping his forehead against her own. She stared into his onyx orbs.
He openly admired her pretty face for a moment before finally speaking up, "I guess I can eat for a couple minutes."
Demi held back from smiling as she stood up quickly, helping her mate stand.
"I made your favorite sandwich."

Onyx ushered Demi along as she tried smearing more sunscreen on his cheeks. He grumbled as she was practically lathering him in it, he barely managed to kiss her goodbye as she had to go meet Kekoa.
Demi huffed at him before pinching his side and teleporting away.
He wiped at his face as he stood alone now, sensing two people behind him.
"I think she missed some spots," Demetri snickered.
"I don't know why you're making fun of him. You were burnt to a crisp before you got that tan," Elora teased.
Onyx managed a smirk as he used his tank top to wipe at any sweat and sunscreen left. The sun was beating down on everyone working but he refused any more breaks.
"She's going to love it Onyx," Elora clasped her hand with her lycans. Demetrius pulled her closer and nodded in agreement.
"Are you sure?" Onyx gruffed as he looked at them worriedly.
"I'm absolutely positive. When Demetri got us our own space it was the happiest I've ever been. And you've made so many little details for her, not only in the house but the entire pack grounds!"
Onyx scratched the back of his head, keeping his head down.
Demetrius patted his back, he'd looked over the fine details of the future pack.
There were clocks that were going to be placed everywhere around town, he noticed immediately. He knew it was because Demi often lost track of time. There wasn't many twists and turns so she would be adaptable to the area, and their own house was farther away from everyone so she'd be able to retreat when she was overwhelmed.
In the house he noticed Onyx was building with materials that were specially insulated so she'd be especially warm when the winters got cold.
Demetrius sighed heavily, knowing his daughter would be taken care of.
"Gonna build a big complex in the center of the land. Have it for meetings and gatherings. Wanted to have the party for the wedding there," Onyx bit his thumbnail as he waited for their thoughts.
"She'd love that, it's big enough for her to decorate how she wants. And she mentioned wanted the ceremony outside, we could set it up in that field she likes," Elora pointed over to the outskirts of the pack.
Onyx agreed, "The twins are making a gazebo over there for it."
"That reminds me, babe you have to take Onyx for his outfit." Both men looked at Elora like she'd grown a second head.
Slowly, Onyx shook his head no.
"Yes Onyx. No arguing, you can't wear black cargo pants."
Onyx had been so enraptured about Demi walking to him in a white gown he hadn't really thought about what he'd wear.
"Can't Demi pick it out?" He frowned as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
"No. You're a big boy, you can spend some time with your father in law and pick out a tux."
Both men looked at each other awkwardly.
"I don't know-"
"Honey do I have-"
"Yes! Now stop arguing both of you. Bring your friends and our twins. Hell- bring Lacey. Have a bachelor party, get drunk, I don't give a fuck but get it done."
Elora pinned the both of them with an intimidating stare, both nodding quickly.
When they finally piped down she clasped her hands together with a wide grin as if nothing happened, "Yay!"
She turned and waved off her mates apprehensive look, "When you take him just don't think about how he has sex with our daughter."
Both men groaned loudly.
She reached and placed a comforting hand on Onyx's shoulder. "You're doing good, Onyx. Take a deep breath, big guy."
He sighed slowly, letting his head hang as he wiped at his face tiredly. "Thanks Elora," he mumbled as he was grateful for her.
Onyx glanced at the setting sun, "I'm going to tell them to wrap up for the day. Thank you both."
They watched him run a hand through his dark hair, straightening his posture as he began giving orders to his pack.
"They're going to be okay," Elora said almost as if she was reassuring herself. Her babies were leaving the nest.
Demetrius cupped her cheeks while placing a chaste kiss to her plump lips.
"They'll be good. We raised her well, and Onyx is a good man."
He hugged her into his side while looking at all the progress made as she opened a portal for everyone.
