Eleven

Demi and Sylvester were both fawning over their many knives.

Demi kept teleporting in more and more weapons gleefully. They'd retreated to the forrest outside the town, Demi's favorite place to explore.

"My two swords are enchanted- unbreakable steel."

Demi 'oohed' and 'ahed'. She showed him one of her mothers old daggers, informing him she used them in many of the Councils battles.

"You're trained in all of these?" Sylvester asked. She had small daggers, long swords, sai's, and even a whip in her growing arsenal.

"Mhm! Since I was a girl. Was one of the only things that made me feel normal in my family," she giggled.

Sylvester frowned however, he could sense Demi felt like an outsider wherever she went. In the past hour he'd had to gently gain her attention back many times. Demi confided in him that the forrest was full of life that spoke to her. And while it was distracting she'd never heard happier noise than from the forrest.

"Can I ask you a question?" Demi whispered shyly.

Sylvester nodded as he relaxed next to the Witch. They both sat on the ground, Demi toying with the green blades of grass.

"Why doesn't Onyx want me?"

Sylvester sighed loudly. "Alpha is a complicated man. He's expressed to us that he cares about you, or at least through his jealousy he has. He doesn't have a normal connection with his Wolf. It makes everything more difficult. He hasn't known enjoyment in a long time."

Demi nodded slowly at the information, "It's still no excuse. H-He got so mad the other day." She sniffled at the thought of her ruined things.

Sylvester saw her shaking and thought the worse. "He didn't hurt you, did he? He came back that night shaken up."

"N-No he just.. I have a space with my pottery and he got so upset. A good amount of it was ruined."

Sylvester's brow furrowed, did Onyx remember this?

Suddenly Demi sat up straighter. He watched her brows furrow in suspicion. He too rose at her sudden change in demeanor.

A thwip rang through the still air, Demi released a cry. An arrow sunk into her shoulder grotesquely, she snarled at the pain.

Sylvester quickly shielded her, gripping his swords and swatting another arrow aimed at him. Demi warped a knife into her good hand, flinching suddenly.

"I can't teleport!" She cried out. Around them, men began to file in around them.

They were being surrounded while a scratchy voice piped up, "You like that? Coated the tip of that arrow specifically for you, pretty thing."

Demi's eyes were blazing as she turned her back to press against Sylvester's much broader one.

Her dress was soaked in blood as she leaned against him. He bore her weight when she suddenly threw the knife, sinking it into a human soldiers eye.

"Attack!" Another cried as his fellow soldier fell.

Sylvester moved like a mad man, circling an arm around Demi to keep her safe. He couldn't let anything happen to his Luna.

He used his swords like an extension of himself, slicing through these men. But they had numbers.

Demi clutched his arm around her, "Cover your ears." Her voice gurgled as she kept herself up straight. The poison pumping through her veins acted as a sedative.

Sylvester didn't have time to be confused, watching Demi inhale deeply.

She clutched her wound as an ear piercing scream fell from her lips. Sylvester was deafened, falling to his knees.

The ground shook underneath the both of them. The humans yelled and moaned in agony as their ears bled.

Magic crackled around them all, yellow sparking viscously. Cracks formed in the ground, trees fell around them.

Demi's eyes rolled back a little as she quieted. She gasped when a resounding roar responded to her scream. Another following suit, she recognized that one. Her fathers.

She clutched herself as the humans began rising slowly. Sylvester still couldn't hear anything as he gained his balance.

He'd never seen anything like that.

Just as he began raising his swords again, a black Wolf tore through the human he aimed at.

Onyx bellowed, his eyes darting to his weakened mate. He lunged and clamped his jaws around the man approaching her. His head torn from his body swiftly.

Demetrius was quick to join him as Elora ran behind him. Demetri finished the others that were alive as Onyx shifted mid run.

He saw Demi began to fall limp.

Suddenly, another twenty humans flooded them. Immediately majority of them surrounded Demetri. This was an ambush.

Onyx roared when he saw another five snag the limp Demi. They were obviously under some spells effects, because within a blink of an eye they were off. Running faster than any human could. Onyx snarled to Demetri who was raging as Elora began picking them off of her mate, signaling to them he would retrieve Demi.

He leapt into action without another thought. He was already faster than the normal supernatural, but he had never ran quicker than this moment. His Beast was howling and clawing to escape, for once Onyx allowed him.

It was a blur from that moment. Onyx's wolf body leapt, pushing off the nearest trunk to tackle down two humans. He crushed one skull between his jaw. His claws dug into the others eyes while he screamed in agony. Onyx's paw smashed the man's head into the dirt.

His sharp eyes darted up to the three other men who held his mate, they'd stopped- frozen in fear.

The Beast, surprisingly allowed Onyx to shift back into his form. In his naked glory, Onyx wiped the blood on his hands over the markings on his chest. Black smoke rose from his body as he shook in anger.

"I'm going to kill you with my bare hands." He grit through his teeth, he watched them tremble.

"W-We didn't k...know-"

"Didn't know?" He sneered slowly.

"That she was yours!" Yet, they still had their disgusting hands on her delicate body.

Onyx was almost pleased to hear them call her that. "Yes... mine. You took what was mine, you're deaths will be slow."

The Alpha wasn't one for talking, he didn't waste any more time in moving. The humans couldn't process his speed before one was being slammed into a tree. His face a blood, unrecognizable mess with every hit. He fell to the ground barely breathing, soon to be dead.

Onyx wrapped his arm around the second to last man, his large arms slowly strangling him. The human tried to claw his way out as he turned purple, the nails digging into his pale skin had no effect on Onyx.

The other man who tried to hold up the limp woman, who was halfway on the ground- whimpered.

"I-I'll kill her!"

"You will place her gently on the ground!" Onyx barked in his commanding tone. The man pleading for his life between his bicep and forearm was nothing to him.

The human did as he said, Onyx dropped the now dead man. "I don't have time to make you suffer," his eyes cut to Demi lying on the ground.

The human was thrown to the ground brutally, he screamed but was abruptly cut off when Onyx slammed his bare foot into his face. Blood splattered the Alpha, he growled in triumph but was quickly distracted by his mate.

He knelt to cradle her into her lap, shaking her gently as he tried not to jostle the arrow still imbedded in her.

"Wake up," he mumbled desperately. "J-Just do something, please. Move a little- fuck!"

"Damn it, damn it, wake up!" He yelled as he held her to his chest.

"Why isn't she waking up?!" He panicked as he checked for a pulse. "Please wake up, fuck, Demi please. I'll do better I swear baby," his voice broke as he pleaded with the unconscious girl in his lap.

He saw her father darting towards the two, reaching to take her from him. Elora ran up and inhaled sharply at the sight of her poor baby.

Onyx, who's eyes were entirely black- the whites of them disappeared, snarled.

"Mine!" He snapped at Demetri.

The Lycan was ready to tackle the man but Elora gripped his arm.

"It'd be stupid to take her from him. You know that. Onyx we have to get her to the house, I'm opening a portal will you carry her?" Elora asked gently as the portal opened behind her. Demetri came to help Sylvester stand as he gained his hearing back. They nodded to one another out of respect.

Onyx only growled but stood slowly as he held her to his chest. He pressed his hand to her wound, his Beast whimpering at the arrow in her body.

In the midst of this someone had gotten Onyx shorts.

Once she'd been laid down on her side, they all winced as they had to pull out the arrow.

Onyx held her down as Demetri pulled it all the way out. She screamed into the pillow beneath her.

Elora was chanting a healing spell over her, trying to get her pulse to strengthen.

"Where're you're other children? Should I go get them?" Sylvester asked frantically. They might know how to help.

"They travelled today to help a colleague. We'll be alright, she's stabilizing. Go get a rag- you're ears are bleeding. Go rest Sylvester," Elora demanded.

Onyx, who'd been kneeling over her relaxed. He slumped down, his forehead pressing to the mattress besides her head. Her entire body was shielded underneath his own as he listened to her fluttering heart beat.

He'd never felt fear like that. When he heard that scream he knew it was Demi. She was crying for help.

"What was that thing that she did? I've never seen a witch do that." Onyx spoke quietly as he pushed himself up slowly.

"It's a last resort, an alarm of sorts. Everyone in the pack knows if they hear a scream like that to be ready for an attack. We learned Demi could do it during her teen years. In a rather unpleasant way."

He looked up at her parents, shameless as he straddled their daughter.

"I'm assuming you're aware of your daughter and I's situation?" Onyx husked as he nodded for Sylvester to leave the room. He'd thank him for his work later.

"You call you're mateship a situation?" Elora rose a brow.

"I'm still figuring things out."

"And you really think you can figure it out without her?" Demetri growled at him. Onyx sighed as he rolled his neck.

"I'm going to get her out of the dress, maybe you can visit her when her wound is dressed as well," Elora approached the bed slowly. The Wolf had been damn near feral earlier, they had to tread lightly.

Onyx looked at his mate, her little white dress was stained with her blood. He openly snarled at the sight, hating seeing any injury on her. He leaned down, hesitantly. Onyx pressed his nose to her hair, inhaling deeply to placate his Beast. He kissed her temple almost shyly before climbing off of her. Without another glance he exited the room.

Demetri soon followed as well but only knocked shoulders with him as he passed.

Sylvester, who'd been waiting met his eyes. "Quite the turn of events, aye boss?"
