10- Necromancy

After we separate and I introduce my friends to my Mum, they lead us outside. Alexis tackles me as a tiger and I laugh as she takes me down.

"Sir! You're okay! I'm so sorry I left you. I shouldn't have. I should've stayed where I could protect and assist you in any way-" She begins to rant as the snake form slithers nervous- at least it looks like it, but machines don't feel -circles around my neck. I interrupt before she gets too far.

"Alexis, calm down. You're fine." I sit up with her and my eyes widen at the scene I hadn't noticed before.

Holy shit.

My two friends took out all of them. The spears are melted, most of the people here are severely injured or dead.

"You- You two did all this... by yourselves?" Mum stammers out as she tenses her grip on my hand. A smile grows on me.

"Uh, yeah." Violet blushes as she looks down. Stephen clears his throat and rubs the back of his neck.

I swallow as my throat goes dry.

What kind of friends did I make?!

Then she releases my hand and crouches next to one of the fallen men, I see her eyes narrow.

"Lincoln. How did you meet your friends?" I tense when I see Stephen clench his fists.

"Well..." The silence between us is thick enough to cut.

"These are magical wounds. One attack towards the soul, one attack towards the body." Her glare sends shivers down my spine as she whirls to face us, "One of your friends is an Archer type, the other is a Necromancer."

I bite my tongue to keep from paling. I had known Stephen didn't like to use his magic, I had known that it was an off setting dark feel to it, and that it was insanely powerful.

Her eyes lock onto Stephen, obviously she's already scanned Vi and found her as the Archer. I hear the scraping of the 650 thousand pound bronze Lion moving above.

I step between Mum and Stephen, Violet right behind me.

"Stay away from Raphael!" Violet shouts as her eyes light up.

"Mum, stop. He isn't a threat to us." Alexis lifts her head as I speak, hearing and probably feeling my nerves beginning to build.

"Step away from it, Lincoln. You know what their kind did to your family. To your Uncle!" I grit my teeth as I take a deep breath.

"That was a long time ago." The Lion comes around the corner with a growl, its eyes glowing white. Soon after, a badger, fox, and two wolves follow.

"Stop." Stephen's voice is low, almost soft in a cold way, "I'm not worth this trouble. I'll leave and you won't see- !"

The smacking sound Violet's hand making contact with his cheek makes me both suddenly pale and flinch.

"Shut up!" She's turned her back to my Mum and facing him, tears in her eyes as her voice cracks. "You are worth thousands of times more than this!"

I cover both of them with my arms, knowing Mum won't attack with me in the way.

"Mum, please, hear me out. Raphael isn't-!" She interrupts me before I can finish.

"Baby, listen to me. I will not allow you to be friends with a Necromancer." I see a tear stream down her cheek and tense, "Now step away from them."

Them... She's going to attack Violet too.

I make sure my bangs are over my eyes as I hold my hand out to Stephen.

"Give me your hand." My quiet command makes both of them pause.

"D- Donatello... you don't have to do that. You know that, don't you?" Violet whispers. I close my eyes and grit my teeth.

"Lincoln, you step away from that boy or I'll make you!" My mother rises a bit off the floor as the animals creep closer. Metal creaking and groaning as it moves.

"Give me your hand!" I snap. Stephen's hand slips into mine and I nearly stumble with the rush of sudden magic energy.

The side effects of it comes well.

One of the reasons I was always so scared to do Necromancy was because of these side effects. They effect everyone differently, and most are driven into insanity. You might hear the voices of the dead your raising, you might hear your lost loved ones, you might even possibly hear your worst fears.

They're all different.

You're not good enough.

I don't know who this is. I do remember them being one of the voices I heard even trapped in the circle though.

My eyes lock onto the dead around us as they begin to rise. I'll use Stephen's own store of magic is like a back up now.

You think you can handle all of us?! You little shit!

This is the guy I had actually been rudely introduced to. The man who dragged me to the circle.

The bodies begin to rise and the animals are taken by surprise, they back up a little. I hear Mum's shriek,

"No! Lincoln you can't be one of them! Lincoln! My baby!" I feel my resolve crack, and they do too.

Lincoln, how could you? Do I really need to get your father's toy to teach you? Do you need to be-

"Shut up." Stephen snarls. I realize that I was shaking. "Lincoln is more important to us than some of you losers are, so suck it up and move on." Dark red smoke rises from his grip on my hand, "Unless you want to die twice."

Wait, does he hear them?

"Sir." Alexis beeps, "You aren't alone."

I can't manage to form words as Violet takes my other hand.

"He has fucking friends you idiots." Her voice is cold, her eyes glowing.

I'm... I'm not alone.

The dead bodies twitch as they begin to rise.

"Lincoln, stop this! Stop it!!" My mother cries, her eyes frantic. I bite my tongue and look at her as smoke slowly engulfs the room.

"I love you Mom." My voice is small, I know I'm crying.

Weakling.

Shut up.

"What the hell is going on here?!" My father's voice booms down the hall. I feel my resolve crack, fear slipping in through the weak points.

The bodies tremble a bit.

He rounds the corner with his weapon in hand.

Shit.
