This Is A Scene

There are power couples all around us. Michelle and Barack Obama are a power couple. Beyonce and Jay Z Carter are a power couple. Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie are a power couple. Will and Jada Smith are a power couple. And now Ryan Ross and Brendon Urie were a power couple. The power Couple. Because they had the best qualities of each of the power couples listed above.

Because of Ryan's status, they had the same power over the school that the Obamas had over the country. Because of Ryan's family they had the same power of money as the Carters. They had the same power of perfect looks just like Angelina and Brad. That one came naturally. And they had the same fame and notoriety around the school as the Smiths did in Hollywood.

It didn't take long for everyone around school to figure out they were dating. As soon as Brendon accepted the fact that he was gay, they were exclusive. The two were always holding hands and kissing around school. Brendon was even starting to look like Ryan. Not feature wise. More like fashion sense wise.

He'd gotten some of his hair shaved at the sides. His hair was always perfectly styled. He was getting regular manicures and pedicures. He was wearing shoes awfully similar to the ones Ryan always wore. Gone were his small town outfits. Now he was always dressed in designer's finest. Add that in with his new iPhone that match Ryan's, and he wasn't even the same person.

This switch of character took place in less than two weeks of him dating the infamous Mr. Ross. The obvious observation would be that Ryan was forcing Brendon to change, but that wasn't the case. Brendon liked the changes. He liked feeling like a somebody. Even his friends didn't mind. They just liked that they sometimes got to hang around Ryan's popular crowd.

Brendon was sure this was going to be the best time of his life. He was getting new things everyday and not paying for them. He was dating the hottest guy on campus. And he still had the most nerdy, smart and wonderful friends. It was the best of both worlds.

Of course there was a negative side. People loved Ryan. Like there were a bunch of people around campus who were literally in love with him. And when you're in love with someone, you don't like when they date other people. Ryan hadn't had an actual boyfriend since he'd started college.
Which made him fair game around the school. But now he was with Brendon. Now he was ignoring those 2:00am booty call texts and declining his various blowjob offers. For the first time in forever, Ryan Ross was off limits.

But despite all the negative vibes coming from the jealous people, Ryan and Brendon were happy. They were the it couple that everyone wanted to be. And they didn't even have to fake it. It shouldn't be legal to be so perfect and so happy at the same time. Did he mention how humble they were?

"What are you wearing today?" Ryan mumbled sleepily into the phone as he searched through his closet for an outfit.

"Probably just those True Religion jeans you bought me yesterday and a Saint Laurent button up." Brendon's voice was more lively. He'd been up since six with Patrick.

"I'm going to copy that outfit." Ryan told him.

"Of course you are!"

"Do you have to work today?"

"Yes. From four to close"

"But there's a party tonight."

"You're going to just have to go without me, babe."

Patrick walked out of the bathroom with his toothbrush hanging from his mouth. He was wearing a pair of jeans and one of Brendon's new shirts. He paused when he saw Brendon standing in the middle of their room wearing nothing but a pair of boxers. He snatched the toothbrush from his mouth.

"What are you doing, man?"

"I'm on the phone with Ryan."

"Why aren't you dressed? It's already." He looked at the watch on his wrist. "8:32. Class starts at 9:00 and we still have to get breakfast."

"I know."

"Then stop chit chatting with your boyfriend and get dressed so we won't be late."

"I will!"

"Now!" He threw his hands in the air and walked back into the bathroom.

"Is that Patrick?" Ryan asked after listening to them go back and forth.

"Yes." Brendon balanced the phone between his ear and his shoulder as he slipped on his jeans.

"Tell him Pete says hey."

"Hey, Patrick?"

"What?" He walked back into the room area wearing his glasses and hat.

"Pete said hey."

"Pete's with Ryan?" He frowned.

"Yeah, he-"

"Let me see that." Patrick grabbed the phone from Brendon's ear. Giving the boy a chance to put his shirt over his head. "Hello?"

"Patrick?"

"Where's Pete?"

"He's right-"

"Put him on."

There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds. Patrick tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for Pete to come on the line.

"Hey, babe."

"Why are you at Ryan's? You're supposed to be meeting me at the coffee shop in five minutes."

"Well, you're supposed to be meeting me there too and you're still on the phone in your room."

"But I live on campus, Pete."

"Calm down, Pattycakes. We're not going to be late."

"We are going to be late. Because you're waiting for Ryan and-"

"Hey!" Ryan's voice came back on the line. "I will not stand here and be chastised through my own phone. Can you put my boyfriend back on?"

"Here." Patrick handed Brendon the phone. He grabbed the messenger bag off the bed and began shuffling through it.

"Knock, knock." The door to their room opened. Spencer and Joe walked in.

"Where's Hayley?" Brendon asked.

"She, uh." Joe glanced over at Patrick and then back at Brendon. "Didn't want to come."

"Yeah, because Patrick is screwing her crush." Spencer said honestly.

"Spence!" Joe slapped his arm.

"I don't have time for this." Patrick closed his bag and rushed out the door.

"What's his problem?" Joe asked in his usual slow drawl.

"He just really doesn't want to be late, I guess." Brendon shrugged, stepping into his shoes.

"Hello! Brendon?" Ryan's voice was loud and annoyed.

"Yes, sorry. Hello?" He placed the phone back to his ear.

"The party! Can we go?"

"You can go without me."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. I have to work. Just behave yourself."

"Okay."

"Are you coming to class?"

"I don't know." He hung up the phone.

Ryan didn't go to any of his classes. He also didn't text or call Brendon during the entire day. Of course Brendon was worried. That was normal when you had a boyfriend. So he took the day off of work and decided he was going to surprise Ryan at the party tonight.

Patrick and Pete were going the large party with him. They were originally going to spend the night together, probably having sex in the same room Brendon had to sleep in. But Brendon called Patrick and begged him to come to the party with him. So now here the trio was, standing on the porch of the sorority house.

"Before we go in there, I feel like I need to warn you about what may be on the other side of that door." Pete whispered to Brendon.

"I've been to a college party before, Pete."

"I don't mean the party. I mean Ryan."

"I've been to a party with Ryan. The first time we met was at a party."

"Yes, but he spent the entire party with you. You've never seen the way Ryan normally is at parties."

"I'm sure I can handle it, Pete." He laughed.

"Fine." He stepped in front of him to open the door.

The smell of sweat, smoke and alcohol filled their noses immediately. Brendon's eyes searched the crowd for Ryan and he wasn't hard to find. He was standing on the stairs surrounded by a group of boys and girl, mainly girls. His body was swaying to the beat of the music blasting from the man sized speakers.
Brendon decided to just watch him for a few minutes. Pete and Patrick were dancing at his side. Both of them already had drinks in their hands. Brendon found himself moving subconsciously to the tempo of the song playing. He felt someone brush up behind him but he didn't stop moving. That's what these parties were about anyway. Having a good time with strangers.

The song changed but Brendon's enthusiasm to dance didn't. He didn't have to be drunk to have a good time. He let himself dance freely against who ever was still behind him. He probably looked like an idiot, but he wasn't stopping. Patrick glanced over at him and winked. Pete shook his head and laughed.

"I knew you'd look good on the dance floor." Ryan's voice whispered into Brendon's right ear at the same time his hands gripped his waist.

Brendon spun around to face his boyfriend. Smiling at the glazed over look in his eyes. "When did you get down here?"

"One songs ago." Ryan laughed. "You were too busy dancing to notice me pushing that grab happy dude off of you."

"I just wanted to let you keep having a good time. I didn't want to disturb you."

"You just being in the same room as me, disturbs me." Ryan grabbed a red cup from a girl passing them.

"So you knew I was here?"

"I saw you walk in. I was waiting for you to see me." He tipped his head back and downed the entire drink.

"I saw you when I walked in."

"You just didn't want to dance with me?" He pouted.

Brendon pushed himself closer. "I always want to dance with you."

Ryan smirked then. A smirk only the Ryan Ross could wear. Gee danced up to the couple. Shimmying himself between them. Brendon's eyes narrowed as Gerard slipped a pill into his boyfriend's hand. He pushed his full cup into Ryan's other hand before dancing away from them.

Ryan tossed the pill into his mouth and tipped the cup up to swallow the drink. His head began to undulate sloppily. Brendon had to grab Ryan's arms to keep him steady. What kind of pill was that? It didn't matter. Because, whatever it was, Brendon didn't like it.
