Part 12

"(Name)."

"(Name), wake up."

"(NAME)!"

"What?!" I shoot straight up. I look behind me and see Emil.

"Are you alright?" He asks, eyeing me worriedly.

"I-I'm alright, why?"

"You were crying," he lifts his hand up and wipes a stray tear from my cheek.

"I'm sorry..." I whisper as I lay down next to him. He brings me close to his chest and rubs my back.

"The storm died down, so I don't know why you are crying. What happened? Bad dream?" I curtly nod my head to his question. "It's alright, nothing will hurt you while I'm here."

"Thank you, Emil."

"Yea," he smiles. "What did you dream about?"

I stare at him, hesitant to share what i had seen. "You can tell me," he says encouragingly.

"Alright," I deeply inhale and I tell him the dream.

"A transferee, huh?" He looks at the cieling, deep in thought.

"Yea," I sigh. "What could it mean? Why would I dream about something so specific?"

"Well, maybe it wasn't a dream," he begins. "Maybe it was a memory."

I repeat his words in astonishment. "A memory?"

"Yea," he sits up and looks at me. "Do you remember anything from your time in the hospital?"

"No," I avert my gaze.

"I see," he stares out the window into the early darkness of the morning. "Do you remember anyone from your stay?"

"Not a single person. The Matron had said the accident traumatized me, and I forgot most of my life before arriving at the orphanage."

He looks at me, and reaches his hand out. "I'm sorry," he says as his hand sympathetically caresses my hair.

"It's ok," I smile as I lean into him. His body relaxes as if we've done this a million times before. I secretly eye his face, only to find out he's doing the same. His cheeks flare up and he averts his gaze.

"A-Anyways, we should get back to bed."

"I agree. What time is our shift?"

He smirks in triumph as he answers me, "Tino gave us the day off."

"Great. What should we do tomorrow?"

"I was thinking we could get you some new clothes since you only have three pairs."

"That's nice, thank you." I snuggle into his chest and he lays a protective arm over my back.

"Goodnight, again."
