31. truly a harmful bias
"Oh, no worries Bakubro! You'll catch up to me in no time in your remedial course." You stuck out your tongue at the raging blonde and stuck your thumbs to your head, making mocking gestures.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU EYE BAGS!" He screamed, trying to get to you but was unfortunately held back Kirishima and Eijirou.
"Don't kill the pretty lady Bakubro."
You grinned, flipping your tangled hair. "It's about time someone noticed."
"Everyone notices." Bakugou grumbled.
"What-"
"Y/n!! Can you believe this!" Izuku came running up to you and slung his arm over your shoulder, showing you his license excitedly. "I can't believe I actually did it."
"I'm so proud!" You grinned.
He let go of his hold on you and turned to face you with a smile. "I knew you could do it, but I'm proud of you too."
Before you could reply, "Get a room you fucking losers!" Bakugou growled.

After the provision licensing exam, everyone returned to the dorms. Some went straight to bed, but many of your classmates stayed and enjoyed each other's company in celebration of sorts.
"I just can't believe he didn't pass, Mina-Chan." You whined as you squished her cheeks, she was holding you on her lap since you were in an especially clingy mood—for whatever reason.
"I know honey, it's gonna be okay." She cooed back in a baby voice, patting your head gently.
"I feel like this should bother me." You heard Izuku say to one of your classmates.
"We always knew you were a perv, Midoriya." Kaminari snickered.
"Let's get some photos! I've never seen them this sexy before." Mineta snickered as he pulled out his phone.
You immediately lifted your head from Mina's grasp and your entire gaze darkened. You flipped your finger over and flipped him off, preceding the phone you floated off the counter and threw at his head.
You loved this development of your quirk.
"Ow, damn!"
"My phone!" Kaminari cried.

Not much later into the night, Izuku left with Bakugou.
You knew it had something to do with his quirk, but you didn't know why it was so important that they needed to break curfew.
In that moment you could picture your father's face, angry and scraggily hair like he often had when you didn't wake up in time for school.
He really picked his times to be angry.
You knew they were going to be caught but there was nothing you could do about it. You just hoped they didn't get you dragged down with them, your dad would definitely assume that you knew about it.
Not like he would be assuming wrong but truly a harmful bias.
You stood before Todoroki's door and took in a deep breath. It had been hard to shake your worry for him, especially after he went straight to his room once your class returned.
It's not like this wasn't normal behavior for him, he often shied away from your classmates gatherings at night.
But that look on his face—you knew the defeat was humiliating.
You knocked once and opened the door, knowing he would deny your entry if you tried to wait for his response.
"You really aren't coming?" You asked. His eyes immediately met yours as you opened the door, he was sitting on his floor mat eating a bowl of cold soba.
You had no idea where the hell he got it from this late at night.
"No."
You furrowed your brows. "Where the hell did you get that?" He ignored you for a moment and continued to eat his late dinner.
"Fuyumi."
"Who?"
"Sister."
"I forgot how talkative you are." You grumbled, taking a seat besides him.
It was really hard to shake your worry for him, even though he was sitting contently on his floor. He was so skilled at what he did all the time and it was hard for you not to compare yourself to him. You had trained all your life for this just like he did, but he still continued to push forward.
Just like Bakugou and Izuku. They had both improved so quickly at their time at U.A, yet you had made simple progress on your quirk progression.
This should feel like a win for you today, but you wondered if it was just another way for you to get left behind.
You did it to yourself really.
"What are you doing in here?" He asked and you knew he didn't mean it rudely. You often enjoyed hanging out with your close friends and classmates, so he probably found it strange you were in there with him instead.
You hadn't realized how much he noticed about you.
You leaned back on your hands and sighed as your head fell back, thinking on your answer. You didn't exactly want to tell him about your worries.
"Planning world domination, I figured you'd make a great evil sidekick."
"I don't think my father would enjoy hearing you say that." He remained undeterred, besides the small quirk of his lips.
"Good thing it's just a conversation between you and me." You grinned, unable to hide your own smile at the prospect of his potential one.
He was staring at you, waiting for you to really explain why you were there.
You scoffed, "Fine." Your eyes met. "I was worried about you, okay? But that's out of character for me so I'm not allowed to show it."
He chuckled. "No need to worry about me. I deserved my defeat."
You snorted. "I love how you say random words like that."
"Shouldn't you get back out there? I don't believe Midoriya would enjoy to find out you're secluded in a room with me."
You laughed. "He wouldn't care. But he's with Bakugou right now."
"Why?"
"Hell if I know."
I mean, of course you did. Not like he needed to know that.
After you left his room, your father was standing against the wall across from his door—arms crossed and an irritated look across his face.
You gulped.
"Let's go."
**
"Starting a fight the night of your exam? I'm happy to hear you've got the energy for that."
"Wait, Aizawa! Don't tie them up just yet."
It was truly a thrilling sight to see someone else all caught up in your father's capture weapons. He'd use it to pull you down by your ankle whenever you tried to use your quirk to escape his chores or lectures, it was a nice change of scenery.
But you knew you were in trouble too.
Otherwise...you wouldn't be in there.
Your father and All Might went back and forth about the situation. All Might claimed the fight was his fault in the first place, not giving enough attention to Bakugou when we all know that isn't the case (though he does play some serious favorites.)
All Might also claimed that you shouldn't have to be punished for their actions, you cheered him on with a go Uncle All Might, earning you a warning glare from your already ticked father.
In the end—
"But letting them get away after breaking the rules isn't allow. Who the hell started it?"
"Me." Bakugou groaned.
"I also got pretty worked up." Izuku sighed.
"I would just like to say I had no part in this." You chimed in.
"You're on lockdown! Four days for Bakugou, three days for Midoriya, one for you Y/n!" He growled.
"What the hell!?"
"During that time you'll clean the communal spaces day and night. I also want written apologies from both of you!"
"Why do I have to clean?" You whined.
"Because you should have come and gotten me the second one of them told you this was happening." He growled.
"How do you know one of them told me?" You crossed your arms and hummed.
"You're seriously trying to act like your boyfriend didn't tell you where he was going? You're both attached at the hip!"
"We are not!" You both said at the same time.
Bakugou scoffed.
"Fine." You grumbled. "He told me."
**
Izuku was silent the moment your father let you loose.
He walked you down to your hallway and back to your room, but didn't say a word.
"Okay, what's wrong? Did something happen that I didn't already guess?" You asked, grabbing him gently by the arm and stopping him before your room.
His emerald eyes met yours and they looked to be a mixture of sad and worried—almost like he was at a bit of a war with himself.
Like he couldn't decide what to do next.
"Izuku."
"Do I cling to you to much?" He asked.
You were taken aback. "What?"
He shook his head, "I just—" he sighed. "He knew already that you knew where we were. You wouldn't have gotten into trouble if we weren't together."
"Izuku."
He put his hands up in defense, "You asked me what was wrong! I was just telling you what I was thinking." He sighed.
You grabbed his face in your hands and brought it closer to yours, his nose bumping yours. "Don't think things like that."
"What-"
"When you think things like that it makes me wonder if you want to breakup with me, and that's the scariest thing I've ever heard."
His eyes watered and he pulled you into a hug. "Okay."
He didn't fight you anymore on it, even if he thought what you said was probably not true. How could a breakup between the two of you be scary for you, after all you've been through? With your family, your adoption, your villain brother, All for One...did he really mean more than that to you?
As he walked away, he wished he had the full courage to tell you what he had been thinking.
He thought back to his fight with Kacchan, some of the things he had said to him that didn't pertain to All Might or their shared quirk.
"You're always mocking me! Not only did All Might think you were better than me, but she did too! You're not—she's—everyone chooses you over me."
He had fallen to his knees for a moment after that and Izuku had never seen him look so sad or pitiful.
He knew that Bakugou had a feeling of sorts for you. He had never seen the boy so enamored by another, even if your interactions with him consisted of intense teasing.
It was unsettling, Kacchan had never felt so intensely for anyone. Never enough to make him shed tears.
It made Izuku wonder if the two of you had it all wrong.
It made him question his worth of you, if maybe it was really supposed to be you and Kacchan together in the end.
As the thought crossed his mind, the faint image of you pinned under his grasp against the wall, slipping into a thought of you walking away with him hand in hand—his tears
Began
To
Fall.
Even if that was true, if the two of you were together in the end...
Izuku would take whatever time he could get with you
And cherish it until the day he dies.
