22. tremors of the forest
"Pixiebob!" Izuku screamed, only for the two of you to be pushed back by another hero, trying his best to shield you from the villains who had their partner pinned and bloody to the ground.
Fear filled Izuku's gaze. "Kota!" His eyes met yours.
"We have to go get him." You spoke as the tremble of your fingers spread to the rest of your body.
—aizawa
Aizawa couldn't have gotten out of that building faster. The instant Mandalay's telepathic warning traveled through everyone on the campsite, he darted for the door.
It didn't make sense, they had put in place so many precautions to ensure each student would be safe from the villains.
Who could have leaked it? He didn't even like to think that someone could have. He wanted to trust his students and peers on the faculty.
His first and prominent thought was finding you. He knew there were villains out there after you—to have the last of Nana Shimura's blood.
Aizawa paused, filled with dread as the once beautiful forest was filled with flames colored brilliant blue.
"This is bad." He let out a sort of gasp as his eyes slowly scanned the forest.
"Always worried about others, huh Eraser Head!?"
"VLAD!" Aizawa screamed as the flames from the villain hurled in his direction.
"You pro heroes stay out of our way, you're not the ones we have beef with." The man with the patched face and beautiful flames scoffed.
—y/n
The League of Villains action squad. Wasn't that what Shigaraki called his little crew?
You didn't like this at all.
"Stain...so these are his followers." Iida said through gritted teeth. Your eyes flickered over to him, he was incredibly nervous and his anger was only increasing. When the news first announced that there were people who admired the man you put behind bars, Iida was silent the entire day.
That man put you all through hell.
It was even worse when you found the merchandise sellers were advertising.
"You're the ones who brought him down in Hosu City, let me introduce myself." The villain's hand grabbed the hilt of his sword. "I'm Spinner."
His grin only expanded as he pulled out an array of blades, pointed directly at you and your friends. "And I intend to make his dreams come true."
Izuku grabbed your forearm and began to step back, pulling you with him as Mandalay began shouting orders, ensuring you all leave and don't fight any villains you may encounter.
"Lead them class president!"
"Iida, go without me." Izuku lightly pushed you towards Iida, turning towards Mandalay.
"What-" You stammered.
"Midoriya! What do you mean?"
"Midoriya."
"MANDALAY! I-I know where he is." Izuku yelled out, his hand clutching his shirt as he cried out the the pro fighting off the villains.
You pushed Iida's arm off, ignoring his cries of protest as you ran up to Izuku. You clutched his arm tightly.
His gaze flickered towards you. "Y/n, please I-"
"I'm going with you."
He turned and cupped your face with his hands, pain flashing in his eyes because he needed to go find Kota, but the need to ensure you were safe was just as strong. "If you get hurt- Y/n, I need you to get to safety." He shook his head like he couldn't even fathom the thought.
You gripped the wrists of his hands cupping your face. "You're not going alone. What kind of—whatever I am would I be if I let you go alone? I'm training to be a hero too, let me save him too."
Something flickered in his expression, you wondered in that moment if he was feeling conflicted.
Izuku used the hands gripping your face to pull you in close and kissed you like it was the last time. As he pulled away, he shook his head.
"I'm sorry, please stay." With that, he activated his quirk and ran off to find Kota alone.
The aftermath of using his quirk lived in the air as the quick wind it created whipped through your hair and past your shirt.
Your hands began to shake as the anger from his abandonment filled you. You didn't want Izuku to be selfless, you wanted him to accept your help and fight by your side.
He could run into a villain alone out there...what if he wasn't ready for it.
"Aizawa! Please, let's get back to shelter!" Iida shouted.
"Go without me too!" You yelled, activating your own quirk and using it to lighten your body, sprinting off in the direction he ran.
*
"Dammit!" You cried out, your quirk failing to uphold—due to the exhaustion and overuse of the last few days.
The woods of the beast forest all looked the same and you lost sight of Izuku's flickering green.
You pushed through the bushes you somehow walked yourself into, when you saw three smaller figures standing on the walkway. You narrowed your eyes, seeing Ochaco and Tsu standing before a girl in a freaky mask.
Your spine stiffened, wondering what you could possibly do to help them without getting all of you killed.
You weren't allowed to use your quirk, but if she was attacking your friends?
"I'm Toga! You two sure are cute!" The girl pointed her knife at each of them. "Uraraka-San and Asui-San."
"She knows our names."
"You wouldn't happen to know where a girl named Aizawa-San is would you?" She cooed but her voice was gruff from the mask. "She's a real cutie too!"
And suddenly, after monologuing something inaudiable, she was ready with more sharp objects to stick in Ochaco.
Your heart was pounding, Ochaco was in perfect position to escape—but in the blink of an eye Tsu was pinned to the tree. Toga leaned in closely, knife out and ready and a wicked grin on her lips as she ran her tongue across her sharp teeth.
"Toga!" You screamed, jumping from out of the bushes and straight into a fighting position.
The girl clearly didn't expect to hear her name from an unknown voice. She turned rather quickly, her grin widening once she saw you.
"It's you!" She squealed, pointing her knife at you. "You're the one they want me to find!" Her grin widened, her eyes slitting to complete the evil expression. "Let's bloody you up first, you'll look so cute bloody!" She giggled.
She came at you with the knife.
You ducked—rolling out of the way, knowing that Ochaco was standing right behind you.
She grabbed Toga by the arm and used the martial arts she learned from Gunhead and practicing with you to pin her to the ground.
"Nice one Ochaco." You spoke breathlessly, relieved the two of you trusted each other enough to pull that off.
"Tsu! Can you restrain her with your tongue?" Ochaco shouted as you stood back up on your shaky legs, moving to free her from the needle's hold.
"Ochaco-Chan." Toga cooed. "You smell just like me"
You paused, slowly helping Tsu down as you listened to the villain speak.
"There's someone you like right? You want to be like them right?" She giggled. "You're just like me!"
Her eyes adverted to you, glaring. "Is it the same boy she likes? She smells like it too. When I'm done with her you can kill her if you'd like!" She giggled madly.
"Everyone! Two of the villains targets have been identified!" It was freaky to hear her telepathic message without warning. "They're looking for two of you named Kacchan and Y/n. The two of you need to avoid battle or making any sudden move!"
"Y/n?" Ochaco gasped.
"What do they want you for?" Tsu asked.
"How would I-"
"I can tell you!" Toga cheered. "The boss thinks you're just the absolute cutest and wants you all for himself!"
Your eyes widened this is what he meant, huh? Next time...next time...next time.
"Uraraka!?" A familiar voice called out.
Your eyes peered up and you saw a whole group of your classmates...but seeing Izuku made your heart fall.
"Shoji! Guys!" Tsu called, waving her arms frantically.
"Oh, darn." Her movement was so fast that you didn't even see Toga kick Ochaco off her. "There are too many now and I don't feel like dying." Something caught her attention, she paused and shifted into a dream like state.
She was mesmerized by Izuku, but was gone before anyone could react.
"Idiot!" You cried, seeing his bleeding face. "Idiot!" You screamed again as you saw his broken limbs. "If you had just let me go with you!" You cried, angry with him and angry with yourself for getting lost in the stupid big forest.
"Why are you worried about me? You're the one in danger!" He exclaimed, but his voice grew wearier with each word.
"We're all in danger!" You retaliated. "You're the one who's broken on Shoji's back."
"I'd hate to break up this lovers quarrel-"
As soon as everyone's attention was on Todoroki, you noticed a man standing in the shadows. His face adorned a black and white mask, and he held himself with the upmost confidence as he stood there, twirling something.
As you opened your mouth to speak, you were suddenly gone.

—2nd POV
"Guarding Bakugou?"
"Then where is he?"
"What do you mean, he's right-" Izuku started, but was met with nothing but an open pathway filed with rocks and trees.
Panic filled him immediately, his head jerked back and the spot you had once been standing was empty as well. "Y/n's gone too!" Panic, terror, all of the horrifying feelings filled his voice.
"Looking for those pretty things?"
The man's voice drew them to the shadows, showing them the figure standing confidently with his cane he now used for support. "I've taken them, with my magic." He beamed, holding you and Bakugou between his fingers in tiny glass encasings.
"Wha—GIVE THEM BACK!" Izuku screamed, his heart pounding uncontrollably. The pain from his injuries had vanished once more, now replaced by the fountains of adrenaline flooding his system.
When he saw the villain standing before him, all he could see was a life without you in it. He had finally gotten you, and here he was losing you faster than the two of you even happened.
He couldn't sacrifice that happiness—not you, not Kacchan.
"Give them back?" The man hummed. "What an odd thing to say. Bakugou and Aizawa do not belong to anyone, they're their own people—you egotist!"
Todoroki tried to stop him with his pillars of ice, but that plan had no prevail as the villain dodged it with ease, monologuing.
"Sorry, my bad—I'm an entertainer at heart. Taking Tokoyami along with them was just a bit of ad libbing on my part."
"That homicidal maniac was easily taken down by your friend—so I decided to bring him along too!"
The man was so giddy, so pleased with himself for a job well done.
"YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM YOU JERK!" Izuku screamed, struggling to get free, to save them, to save you.
He wanted to hold you again, pat your head and tuck your wispy strands of hair behind your ear. He wanted to hug you, to help calm you down when you got worked up over things most people would overlook without care.
He wanted to be there with you, to experience life and everything with you.
He couldn't let them take you, or his friends!
"I'm sorry, but deception and running away are my only special abilities! I can't go head to head with a bunch of hero trainees."
**
Barreling through the air with the help of Tsu and Ochaco; Shoji, Izuku, and Todoroki were determined to catch up with the villain holding you and their friends.
After distracting him with their presence, the three took down the masked man with an explosive amount of power.
"I know those brats! Who are they?"
It all happened so fast, the burst of blue flames, going head to head with each of the villains, Toga finding Izuku.
What they didn't expect was for that relief to be so temporary, so trivial.
When Izuku saw those capture crystals he thought the fight was one step closer to being over.
He didn't expect the warp gate to appear, they'd won hadn't they?
"Sorry, another bad habit of mine. One of the tenets of magic states that flaunting a particular object..."
The man reached to his face, pulling off his mask to reveal he wore another with holes for his face and mouth.
"Is inevitably a part of the trick." He stuck out his tongue to reveal he still had you and Bakugou in his grasp.
He was entering the gate and once again that future, the one with you and all of your friends felt out of reach once more.
Not until a beam of light hit the man in his face, the crystals falling from his mouth.
In that moment, everyone leaped for the compressed crystals—hoping to capture you all.
Todoroki was so close to capturing two of them floating simultaneously through the air, falling close to the warp gate. A hand reached out and snatched it before he could get close enough.
"Aw, how sad for you Shoto Todoroki." The man with the stapled face smiled. "It's him and the girl, go ahead and release them."
"Where did that laser come from? Made a mess of my whole show!" The villain snapped his fingers and you reappeared by Bakugou's side, not even getting a moment to process the scenery around you, and the hand gripping the back of your neck before terror filled you.
Izuku was charging straight towards you with everything he head, crying out endlessly from the pain and terror combined.
"Y/N!" He screamed. "KACCHAN!" He followed with a sob filling his throat.
Seeing him made you reach your hand out, thinking maybe his fingers could lock with yours—even if it was one last time.
"Stay back...Deku." Bakugou wheezed as the two of you were finally pulled through the warp gate, for it to close only seconds later.
The last thing he saw was the tips of your fingers sliding through the portal—a lost opportunity.
Everyone went silent.
Izuku fell to his knees, quick to plummet on his face. The faint crackling of the fire still sent tremors through the forest, along with the quick footsteps of Aizawa.
The silence was quickly replaced, by Izuku's scream of grief and agony that pierced the entire forest.
