18. likes him too

"Y/n." Your father greeted you with a nod as you entered your home.

"Hey hey hey." You grinned, hanging up your school bag and slipping off your shoes.

Hopping up on the main floor, you slipped into your house slippers before skipping off into the kitchen.

"How was your study session?" He asked with a hum as he stirred the curry he was making.

"Productive." You answered, rubbing your eyes. The lack of sleep was beginning to catch up with you.

You watched as your Dad filled up a glass of water. "I have a question for you." He added as he turned and handed the cool drink to you.

"Just ask, why are you being so weird?" You laughed, nervously taking a sip.

"Bakugou...is he doing alright?"

Your eyes rolled at his question. "Same as normal." You grunted, placing your chin on your hand—thinking back to your earlier conversation with him. "Still competing with Izuku. It's nothing more than that."

With a nod your father silently acknowledged your response. He knew that he shouldn't pry you for information, but he was worried about the direction the fledgling hero was going in. Bakugou often exhibited behaviors of a anti-hero, a trait he wasn't very fond of.

This week has been exhausting. You were getting used to groaning to yourself again, especially now that the written exams were over.

Standing in the middle of your classmates, all adorning your unique hero costumes, you faced your father and many other teachers of U.A.

The practical was the last obstacle you had to ace before your summer vacation. Then you could relax. You just had to keep that finish line in mind.

"Let's begin your practical exam." Your father's eyes scanned the group of students, stern as always. "It is of course, possible to fail this exam. If you want to attend the training camp then don't mess this up."

"There sure are a lot of teachers here." Jirou whispered to you as she slowly counted each one.

You barely heard her, every word coming out of the mouth of your father and the teachers around him was dancing through your mind. You had been sure that you were going to fight the robots, you had even found a plan for the final stored away in your father's desk.

When were you going to learn that your father would never make things easy for you?

**
Thirteen.

Their quirk was detrimental against yours. Every plan you could come up with on the spot was shot back down immediately once you flashed back to the USJ, and how she used her quirk with ease to suck people and objects back towards her.

With a quick glance towards Ochaco and Aoyama, the minuscule confidence that remained inside of you vanished. The two of them looked more unsure than you did.

**
Standing in the middle of the battle grounds did nothing to ease your nerves, neither did your pre battle discussion with your teammates.

The most logical way you could think of to win this was to get lost in the shadows and cuff Thirteen when they weren't looking. But it was likely that they wouldn't allow any of you to split from the pack, it was their sole job not to do so.

"We need to head into this prepared to not use our quirks." You said to Ochaco as you stepped into the arena.

She nodded. "They're useless against them, the teachers are so mean." She stuck her tongue out and pouted.

"I believe the only option is to cuff them, let's just hope we can get close enough."

You stood in between the two of them, disliking the way it felt like they were towering over you.

"Ah, is that Aizawa I see? Im surprised you didn't try and run off immediately." Thirteen taunted. The room was so barren, they really set the three of you up to fail.

When your group made no move, Thirteen fell to offense, activating their quirk and vacuuming the three of you towards you with more power than you had ever felt.

"Hold on!" You yelled as the three of you lunged for the gate. You gripped on as tightly as you could, wincing as your fingers began slipping from the pressure.

"Dammit! We took too long." Ochaco groaned.

As you came to a sudden realization, your eyes widened. "Float." You whispered as if your quirk needed to be called upon to activate. The lower half of your body began to rise, and it appeared as if you were doing a handstand on the gate.

It took an immense amount of strength but you began to try and move your hands across each other, hoping to partake in a walking handstand across the top.

But alas, the pressure from their quirk proved to be to much.

"You were so close." Ochaco frowned as you barely managed to crawl back over to your spot.

Fuck. Think, Y/n, think!

"Pinch? We are in no pinch that I can see!" Aoyama announced, hearing something Thirteen said that you didn't, as he shot off his laser.

"I can also absorb light, down to the atomic level." Thirteen spoke, deadpanned, and continuing to allow their quirk to lure you towards them.

"Hey!" You suddenly heard Aoyama call out again, studying Ochaco's face with a careful smirk twisting across his thin lips.

"Hold on a second I'm-"

"You we're just thinking, what would Izuku Midoriya would do, weren't you? You like him, don't you?"

It was like your breathing stopped when you heard those words. Your heart began to race in anticipation of her response, when you noticed the way that Aoyama smiled at your uncomfortable state awkwardly.

"Oh, I just made things weird now, didn't I? Since Aizawa likes him too."

With an audible gasp, your eyes met Ocacho's. It was like she couldn't handle the information or the embarrassment of his words anymore because she let go to cover her red cheeks, shrieking as their quirk sent her flying back.

Your eyes widened as she barreled towards Thirteen. Oh! Letting go as well, you weren't sure if you were doing this to avoid confirming or denying Aoyama's claim, or if you actually thought it was a good idea.

In the end, you all made it out of the situation with a pass. With the combination of silent martial arts from the two of you, Ochaco managed to capture Thirteen.

Since Aizawa likes him too...since Aizawa likes him too...since Aizawa likes him—

"Don't say that Midoriya! You're going to jinx it."

Hearing his name snapped you out of your trance. Oh yeah, the test is over. You were seated at your desk, promptly ignoring everyone around you. To say you felt awkward after your test would be the understatement of the century. Sure you liked Izuku a lot, but you certainly didn't think in that way. And why did Aoyama think so too? It wasn't like you talked to him!

"That's the bell. Be seated." Your father announced, making his entrance as dramatic as always, slamming the door wide open.

"Morning." He grunted as he situated himself behind his podium. "About your final exams, sadly we had some failures. As such, you're all going to the summer training camp!

"WHAT A TWIST."

Your father was such a devil.

Another rational deception, huh? Time to take a nap.

Finally, homeroom was over and you were all allowed to begin to gather your things to switch classes. Iida had a list of the items each student needed to pack.

"Y/n!" Izuku called just as your foot stepped out of the door.

You froze, turning slightly. "Oh, hi Izuku." You forced a smile.

He looked you over with a weird expression, not understanding your odd behavior. "What's going on with you?" He asked, the two of you being past the point of awkwardly tip-toeing around each other.

You felt your face heat up. "N-Nothing!" You stammered, trying quickly to replace your outward nervousness with laughter. "What would make you say that?"

With narrowed eyes, Izuku grabbed your wrist and dragged you out of the classroom.

"What are you doing?" You exclaimed, stumbling slightly as he kept pulling you towards an empty hallway. He stopped once he saw you were alone.

"What's going on Y/n? Did somebody hurt you?" He asked, his tone so serious that you wanted to double over and die.

"No." You let out a low chuckle. Your eyes met his and you sighed. "I've just been stuck on something Aoyama said during our exam, nothing serious, I promise." You spoke with a soft smile.

Izuku sighed, almost in relief, pulling you into a tight hug. "You scare me sometimes." He admitted into your ear lowly. "I just need to remember that it's normal for you to have moody days like this."

"If you were anyone else saying that, I'd punch you in the face." You grumbled, tightening your grip on his jacket as he laughed softly.

He pulled back only slightly so he could look you in the eyes. "Are you coming to the shopping trip with the class?" He asked with a hopeful look dancing in his green orbs.

You frowned and looked away. "I don't know."

"Please." He reached up and touched your face gently, urging you to look at him once more. "It won't be the same without you there and you know it."

You laughed softly. "Gonna miss me that much?" You asked with a raised eyebrow, humming. "Maybe I won't go then for that reason, punish you for stealing my textbook." You reached up and flicked him on the forehead playfully.

He chuckled. "That was absolutely necessary! You were studying so much that you were becoming mean."

You shrugged. "I'm always mean."

He nodded knowingly. "Okay, fine, I just wanted your attention." He hummed.

Your eyes widened, quickly glancing up at him. "You're getting bold."

He flashed you a grin. "Gotta keep up with you."

"I don't want to be here." Your whining had yet to seize as you friends excitedly discussed everything they needed to purchase from the mall. Izuku looked down at you with a small smile, letting out a low chuckle.

"Come on, I'm sure there's something here that you need."

"Yeah as long as I have your wallet." You grumbled.

"So you're just using me now!?" He exclaimed as you walked towards the group.

"Hey! You're that girl who went down with that Bakugou guy!" You turned and saw a group of strangers waving towards you and your classmates. More fans of the sports festival, this could get old fast.

You stood up straight with a big grin on your face, waving back at them. "Ah yes it is I! Have no fear my admirers I will best that beast of a boy the next time we battle."

"It looks like her cockiness has been refilled to 100%" Izuku sighed, letting his face fall against the palm of his hand.

Ochaco laughed next to him. "At least she's smiling again."

Izuku whipped his head around, noticing that everyone had ran off without the three of them, and you walked back over to see the same thing.

"They went off in a hurry." Izuku chuckled.

You furrowed your brows. "Damn, I needed to get a duffel bag." You thought back to the brief exchange you heard between Momo and Kyoka.

Izuku looked over to Ochaco. "What about you Uraraka? I'm looking for a couple of heavy wrist weights." Izuku was smiling his most innocent grin.

"I need...bug spray." Her eyes flickered over to you and then back to Izuku quickly. You could almost see the memory running through her head as red flamed your cheeks. "...bug..."

She ran off in a hurry, waving her arm shouting, "Bug spray!"

"I'm the bug?!"

You stared at her quickly shrinking form, frowning. You didn't want her to feel awkward being alone with you and Izuku, especially because you didn't even think you liked him the way that Aoyama insinuated (okay sure).

"I'm going to make sure she's okay, wait here." You flashed a fake stressed smile at the green haired boy before running after her.

"Ochaco!" You screamed, not caring that everyone around you could see and hear your poor manners.

She turned quickly when she heard your voice. "Y/n? Whats wrong?" She stammered over her words, her face bright red.

You panted as you caught up to her, but reached out your arms and clamped your hand to her shoulder. "I don't want things to be weird with us."

"T-they're not!" She exclaimed, waving her arms around manically.

"They are." You whispered, locking eyes with her. "If you have feelings for Izuku, I don't want you to feel like you have to hide that for my sake." You swallowed, the sensation thick down your throat with the regret behind your words.

She shook her head. "Y/n, no I—"

"You shouldn't base your decisions off me or my feelings that may or may not be there." You replied, shrugging your shoulders gently. "Do what makes you happy."

Her eyes brightened slightly, but adverted towards the ground as she nodded her head slowly. "Okay." She whispered. "But I'm not completely sure how I feel either."

You smiled bright and closed eyes. "Then it must not be that serious right now then, and when it is we'll handle it."

You linked your arms with hers and began to pull her toward the stairs. "Now, let's go find that stupid boy."

Your mind was at war with your heart as you tugged your friend down the stairs. You knew you were doing the right thing but all you could think about was him choosing her over you.

You didn't want to lose him, Izuku was yours. The two of you did everything together, spent every waking moment you could just being in each other's presence.

He was your best friend, how could you give that up so easily?

Those thoughts didn't seem to matter much as you approached the boy, sitting next to someone dark and hooded that you didn't recognize.

It wasn't until you saw the one finger stopping a full grip on Izuku's neck when you realized that it was Tomura Shigaraki.
