14. sweets for breakfast

"Taikyaki for breakfast?!"

The sudden loudness of Izuku's voice snapped you awake, along with the hushed whispers the two of them partook in, snapping back and forth at each other.

You closed your eyes again slowly, not ready to face the chaos being with the two of them would bring.

Your mind began to wander to the events of last night. After the two of you exchanged permission to use first names, you went to sleep.

The two of you were unable to communicate properly—both way to embarrassed for your own sanity.

Though, what made things worse...you woke up in the middle of the night to your body pressed up again his, his scarred arm clutching your back tightly.

You had no idea how you successfully got out of that situation.

"No way! I was sure I heated them on defrost mode!" Izuku's frantic voice stopped you from reliving the memory.

"You dummy, look!" Gramps shouted. "You crammed 'em on a plate that's too big!!"

You groaned, rolling over as the two of them continued shouting.

You threw the blanket off yourself and stood, stretching slowly as you tapped around the floor in search of your house slippers.

"Can you even move like that?" You heard your grandfather's voice more clearly now. You slipped your feet into your slippers and rubbed the sleep away from your eyes.

"I'm not sure!"

"Why don't we wake up that girl and find out?"

"I'm awa-" You stopped speaking abruptly as you entered the kitchen and saw Izuku standing there in a ready fighting stance, with gorgeous green lightning flickering around his entire body.

**
"So not fair." You grumbled to yourself as you sat on the steps in front of the house. "Why do I get thrown out while they fight?" You reached down and flicked a pebble, who did nothing wrong, down the steps.

You flinched at the sound of something being thrown around (or hitting a wall) inside. Thinking about the hours you spent cleaning yesterday, your irritation only grew.

You were snapped out of your grumbling when your phone buzzed in your pocket.

Pulling it out, your brows furrowed at the unknown number.

***-***-****
How's your internship going?

"What the hell?" You muttered.

Y/n
Don't text me you creep

***-***-****
I'm not a fucking creep eyebags!

You blinked, you would have never expected Bakugou to text so formally.

Y/n
Ahhh bakubro! It's good to hear from you buddy 🤪 how's it going with the Best Jeanist?

Bakugou

Y/n

Bakugou

Bakugou
...

"He stopped typing?" You grumbled as you watched the bubble disappear, the read receipt staring back at you.

The noise inside stopped and the door slammed open. "Get in here and get in your hero costume girl!" Your Gramps bellowed.

"Now? It's so fucking early!" You whined as he dragged you inside.

"It's time for phase two my dear! You are the one who suggested it after all."

You pushed yourself up off the ground and your eyes immediately met Izuku's, and they widened as he smiled weakly at you, holding two thumbs up. "Time to fight some villains." His voice was crackling as blood slowly dripped down his face.

You sat there staring for a moment. "You idiots!" You screamed as you smacked them both upside the head.

**
The night sky truly was beautiful while viewing it from the sky train.

(She called it that because the platform the tracks were built on were high up)

Adorning your hero costume, you sat in the window seat and allowed your head to fall against the cool glass—marveling at the city below.

Every time you were above a city you would always look for the little apartments with the lights still on. Sometimes you would catch a glimpse of someone in their window and you couldn't help but wonder what their story was.

It was always so intriguing to think about, there are so many people in the world and each and everyone one of them has their own individual story. Oh, what you would do to know all of them.

"Is it okay that we're getting in at night?" Izuku asked, finally looking up from his phone.

"Night's perfect!" Your grandpa retaliated with a loud laugh, disturbing the rest of the passengers on the train.

You hadn't spoken to the two of them much during your journey to Hosu City. You were still pretty irritated that they beat each other up and destroyed the house again.

"There are sure to be more incidents now! It'll be fun!" Gramps' laughter was truly shaking the train car it was so loud.

"Quit being a menace old man!" You leaned across Izuku and scolded your grandfather.

Luckily for Izuku, you returned to a normal seated position, staring out the window. He worried for a moment that you would hear how rapidly the beat of his heart increased when you got closer to him.

It bashfully brought him back to the previous night. Throughout the trip he was reminded of the warmth that radiated off you when you were asleep, during all those hours he couldn't.

Being near you was strange for Izuku. He found himself craving your presence but the second you were near he wanted to hide behind the corner. You made him feel differently, and it was so intense and terrifying.

"On your phone again!?" Your grandfather yelled just as loudly, Izuku had returned to his messages—hoping he received a response from Iida. "I swear! Kids these days!"

"Seriously! Shut up!"

The sudden halt of the train sent you flying forward, the only thing stopping your face from colliding with the seat in front of you was Izuku's quick grip on your arm.

"Passengers. Please remain seated. We're making an emergency stop.."

Your heart began pounding against your chest, your eyes darted to the window once more, searching for the reason.

Boom—the once brilliant sky was painted red. Your eyes squinted as your nerves only increased, noticing the quick moving object hurling in the direction of the train.

"Look out!" Your scream took you by surprise as the object collided with the side of the car, flying straight into the train.

Your arms shot up to cover you face as glass flew everywhere.

"A hero?" You heard someone yell.

The terror didn't cease with the destruction of the train car.

A large Nomu similar to the one you met at the USJ entered the scene.

You instinctively stumbled, your back hitting Izuku's chest. Also on instinct, his hand reached up to touch your arm—you were unable to tell if his actions were protective or reassuring.

"Both of you stay here!" Your grandfather yelled and before you knew it you were back at the USJ, watching your father take a leap to ensure you and your classmates were safe.

Once again you were left with Izuku to watch someone you loved risk their life for you. This time, you would do things differently.

"Come on." Your voice was firm as you grabbed your friend by the arm and pulled him towards the gaping hole that led to Hosu City.

"What?" He stammered, "But he said-"

"I know what he said." You snapped. "Izuku, I know you want to go down there and help him as much as I do."

His eyes stared into yours and you were certain that the ferocity that shined in his green hues only mirrored your own.

Before you knew it, you and Izuku leaped from the train car—ignoring the yells of the people on board.

Once your feet made contact with land, you both summoned your quirks and ran as fast as your legs would take you.

Entering the city was horrifying to say the least. The streets were covered with debris, fire, and the carbon copies of Nomu that were causing it.

The scariest part might've been all the new abilities the super monsters were gifted.

"Tenya!" You heard a voice scream.

Izuku did as well. "That's the hero Iida interned with." His voice was steady, but his lack of composure was given away by the shaking of his hands.

"You two! Stand back and don't get in the way! We heroes will put a stop to this! Follow police instructions and get to safety." A hero yelled, one you recognized as the hero you were supposed to be interning with.

So much for that.

"Woah! Sorry." Izuku grabbed you by the wrist and pulled you off in another direction.

The two of you ran, the air silent between the two of you—the chaos ensuing in the city felt like simple background noise.

When he stopped, his expression consumed by the horror his thoughts had caused—you felt all hope begin to seep away.

"Izuku...what is it?" Your question felt stupid, the world was falling apart around you all, what else could be going on?

His movements were stiff as he turned to face you. "The Hero Killer has been operating out of Hosu." Your brows furrowed together. "Y/n." He whispered. "I think Iida is going after him."

***
You didn't mean to get separated from him.

You couldn't exactly pinpoint the moment it happened either.

There was so much ensuing around you that it was hard to keep your head on straight.

Nothing could be worse, you thought it couldn't get worse but you were oh so wrong.

Never in your life had you doubted how much of a coward you truly were. You grew up idolizing those with a mass amount of strength and courage, you were raised by some of the strongest men you had ever met.

You were incredibly strong and talented yourself—but you never believed in that strength. When it really counted, you hadn't shown it either.

Standing in front of Tomura Shigaraki now, alone, sparked the realization that you hadn't made as much improvement as you thought.

Sure, you were able to jump off that train and run into the fire, but who wouldn't be able to do that with someone they loved by their side?

Now that you were alone? You were useless.

It just kept fucking replaying in your head. Useless, Useless, Useless Y/n Aizawa.

"I was hoping we would meet again, but my I didn't expect for it to be tonight." He was itching again, moving so easily while you stood there like you had been frozen by ice.

"It's brilliant, isn't it?" You couldn't see his expression but his tone told you that he was grinning. "This beautiful destruction. I'm so glad you are witnessing it, Y/n Aizawa." His voice dropped an octave.

As if the fear of being alone wasn't enough, hearing your name solidified the feeling.

"How did—how do you-?"

"Oh, I'm sorry." Shigaraki laughed. "Sometimes when I get excited I say to much."

You took a step back but he only walked closer.

"I haven't been able to stop thinking about you, ya know?" You noticed how his voice held a steadier rhythm than the last time the two of you met. He was much more sure of himself this time, high off the destruction he sparked.

He kept crawling closer, edging you further into the alleyway you never intended to turn into.

He was laughing maniacally once more. "I never even meant to step off that roof!" He cried out with a beaming smile. "I'm so glad I did! If I had known I was going to see you here tonight I would have planned to do this sooner!"

His presence was caging. He kept talking and talking but none of his words were making sense to you. You were so lost in the anxiety of being alone with a man who has been searching for you that you couldn't even breathe.

"Come now Y/n." He cooed, backing you up against the wall, running just two fingers down the side of your cheek, agonizingly slow—almost like he was imagining what it would feel like to allow all five fingers to touch you just once.

To watch the destruction he adored so much spread to you.

"Why don't you make this easier on the both of us and just tell me who you are?"

He had asked you something similar the day you two met. He was so sure that he knew you, and if you were being honest that question he demanded to know the answer to irked at you.

"I don't know who the hell I am." You spoke quietly, your heartbeat racing.

Due to the close proximity of his face, you could see the wicked grin that twisted across his pale lips.

"That's another thing we have in common, Y/n dear." You cringed at the sight of the hand gripping his face getting closer to yours. "I have no idea who the hell I am either."
