The one who Tamed a Boneknapper

It was a beautiful night for a flight on Berk until a Berkian shouted, "FIRE!"

"What happened?" yelled one of the male Vikings in worry as everyone gathered around the house to try and put out the fire themselves.

Immediately, the new Dragon Riding Fire Brigade began helping by riding their dragons, carrying huge buckets of water to pour over the house. Snotlout rode Hookfang, with his bucket of water, and let the water fall onto the right side of the roof. "The wind is shifting. Fire Brigade, move it! Bring the Nadders in from the south," Stoick the Vast ordered as he noticed the fire began to shift.

"I'm on it!" Audun yelled as he, Stormfly, and a few other Nadders flew in from the south side of the house and dropped the water onto the backside of the house.

"Gronckles, aim for the roof!" Stoick commanded pointing at a specific spot on the roof of the house.

Fishlegs and a few other Gronckles responded by pouring their buckets of water onto the roof. Then Helen, Toothless, and Silvershadow immediately followed by pouring their buckets on the other hotspots of the roof the Gronckles may have missed. "Good work. Just a few hotspots left," Stoick directed to the villagers and their dragons to which they responded with "Got it" and got right to work.

Quickly, Toothless landed a few feet from Stoick and Helen immediately jumped off of his saddle. So much had changed in the last few months since the Battle for Berk, as the Vikings liked to call it, and everything was great. Helen and Stoick's family relationship improved, people were beginning to accept Helen as who she is, powers and all, and Helen had discovered a new thing about her power of talking to dragons. It's not just her dragons she could talk to, but apparently she could talk to all of the dragons she came into contact with. It was quite handy when wanting to know about new dragons and all.

Her waist-length braided hair, that has regrown back to its original length, flew out behind her as she ran to her adoptive father. "Daddy, where's Gobber? Is he still inside?" Helen asked frantically because the house they were saving, was Gobber's house.

Stoick placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, as he knew how bad fires were for her because her whole world went up in fire around her, and said, "No, can't find him."

Suddenly, there was some metal clanging against each other from the blacksmith shop and a familiar voice called out, "I'm right here!"

That voice belonged to Gobber who was placing weapons in a wooden wagon and was ticked off. "That beast will pay for this," he said in an angry tone before adding another spear to the pile before grabbing the handles and pushing it forward.

"Gobber!" Helen yelled happily and ran towards him before giving him a big hug, to which Gobber responded with a one-armed hook hug, and retracted from the hug asking, "Are you all right? Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine lass. It's gonna take more than a house fire to put me down," Gobber said with a smile but that just made her flinch a bit at those two words.

Stoick noticed it and immediately took the attention away from his daughter by asking, "Gobber, what happened?"

"What's it look like? A dragon set my home on fire!" Gobber yelled out as he began to walk towards the villagers with his wooden wagon in front leaving Helen behind, leaving the teens very confused on what he was saying.

"You pushed me too far this time you ugly bag of bones!" Gobber yelled into the night sky as he set his wooden wagon down and raised his hook to the sky in a threatening manner.

This statement left Helen confused, as she ran over to where her father, and Toothless, was and said, "Daddy, what's he talking about? Our dragons don't that anymore. (Looks over at Toothless and the other dragons and asked) You guys didn't do this did you?"

No.

No we didn't.

Like we ever could.

This has got to be a bad prank.

Was the responses she got from all the dragons, including Toothless and Silvershadow. "They all said that they did not do it," Helen translated for everyone who was confused at the growls and hisses their dragons were making at the same time.

(Sighs) "He doesn't mean one of yours," Stoick said to Helen gently making Silvershadow say, You couldn't have said that earlier, to which Helen responded with a stern "Silvershadow".

"Gobber, for the last time. There is no such thing as a..." Stoick began to say but was interrupted by Gobber yelling, "A Boneknapper?!"

All the adults responded to that with a groan of annoyance while the teens were a bit confused on what was going on. Tuffnut chuckled a bit before asking, "A whatknapper?"

"Disgusting foul beast. Wearing a coat of stolen bones like a giant flying skeleton," Gobber described making Helen perk up a bit at hearing that description.

"Oh, oh, oh," Fishlegs said in a fast tone before saying, "The Dragon Manual says that the Boneknapper will stop at nothing to find the perfect bone to build its coat of armor. It's awesome! Helen, did they have Boneknapper's from where you lived?"

Helen looked over at Fishlegs with narrowed eyes as he said those last words, warning him to be careful of what he said because there were still a few Vikings that did not know that she came from another planet and just thought that she came from a different land at peace with dragons. "Helen?" Audun asked in a questioning tone making her look over at her crush before saying, "There were tales but no one has ever seen one."

"Come on. It's a myth. (Laughs) It doesn't even exist," Stoick said brushing off that knowledge as if was nothing more than an old folk tale.

"I'm telling you. It's real. I've been running from him my whole life. He's the one who started this fire," Gobber insisted.

"Stoick. We've found Gobber's underpants hanging by the stove. They must've started the fire," A Viking said, coming out from Gobber's house holding Gobber's burnt, and smoking, underpants by a thin twig causing everyone to laugh while Helen did a small, quiet chuckle, behind her hand.

"Still think that it was the Boneknapper or just your underpants?" Stoick asked his friend in a chuckling tone as he held the twig, that held the underpants, with his right hand.

"I don't think. I know! Somehow he found me again. That dragon is pure evil," Gobber insisted making Helen reel back in shock of him saying that.

Dragons were never evil and if they attacked homes, it was for a reason that people don't understand until the truth is uncovered. Toothless, as if sensing his best friends distress, warbled and gently nudged right shoulder to comfort her. Stoick took notice of this and said, "Gobber, it's late and we're too tired for your stories. Now get some rest."

"You rest. I'm putting an end to this," Gobber said picking up his wooden wagon and pushed it forward towards the docks where his pet sheep 'Phil' was.

"Come on Phil let's go. We don't need their help anyway," Gobber said to his sheep to which Phil responded with a 'Baa' and walked alongside Gobber towards where a ship was docked.

Helen watched Gobber walk away sadly, as all the villagers left to go back to their homes, and sighed before saying, "I can't let him go by himself. (Turns to the teens behind her and says) All right Vikings. Grab your shields."

Everyone, except Snotlout, cheered a 'yes', because they've always wanted to go on an adventuring experience since they made peace with the dragons. "There's no way, I'm getting on a boat to go after a fake dragon," Snotlout said with a smirk and crossed his arms over his chest in a smug way.

Looking up with a smirk on her face, Helen said, "You will if you don't want me telling your parents that it was you, back when we were 10, who was up past curfew time and not Fishlegs."

Snotlout widened his eyes in shock, making Audun smirk smugly, before saying, "Let's get on that boat!"

~~~
Not even a few hours later, into the daylight morning, Helen was already beginning to regret wanting to come along on this voyage to help Gobber out. She and the teens were the ones that had to row the boat, with the oars, while Gobber was yelling out, "Come on! Put your backs into it you lazy dogs! Stroke. Stroke. You're not even trying. Stroke!"
Like that is supposed to be encouraging, she thought to herself in a glum tone, wishing that she had brought Toothless, or Silvershadow, along but the both of them had a rough night last night putting out that fire, so she decided to go alone and give them the day off to sleep in.
The teens were lined up with Audun, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut on one side and Helen, Snotlout, and Fishlegs on the other while Gobber was in front of them, with the rudder in his hand while using his hook to demonstrate the 'Stroke'. They all sat on trunks while holding the oars as they rowed them back and forth, leaning their bodies forward as they did so while pulling their weight back to pull the oar to them. "How fun is this right? (pulls her oar back with the others before continuing) We got the team back together for another adventure. This is pretty cool huh?" Helen asks the teens as she rows her oar a few more times before coming to a stop and turning to her cousin as she asked that question.
"Yup, nothing cooler than rowing until your hands bleed," Snotlout said in a sarcastic tone before gesturing to his cousin with a 'what the heck' hand gesture before getting back to rowing.
"Just want you kids to know that it touches my heart. You helping me slay the Boneknapper," Gobber said to them, making Helen stop with shock, before continuing in a teary tone, "True Vikings you are."
"Hey how about instead of slaying it, we figure out why it's chasing you?" Helen asked in a shy questioning tone.
Before Gobber could answer, he was interrupted by Ruffnut asking, "Gobber, are we there yet?"
"Oh, you'll know we're close when your ears explode from the piercing screams. Legend says this dragon's roar is so fierce it can melt the flesh right off your bones," Fishlegs respond as he stopped rowing and made gestures with his hands to all over his face on that last sentence to imply what the Boneknapper's roar could do to a human being.
"That legend is pretty accurate," Helen remarked as she continued rowing with the others.
"Not so Fishlegs and Helen. The Boneknapper has no roar at all. That's why he's terrifying. He's a silent killer," Gobber said in a creepy tone making Helen reel back in shock once again at this knowledge.
"Wait, so if we don't hear anything, we're dead?" Ruffnut asked out of curiosity making everyone stop rowing and try to hear if anything was coming towards them.
They waited for a few seconds, causing Tuffnut to whisper, "I don't hear anything,", before hearing a loud 'Baa' from behind them causing them all to shout in fright and look to see Phil there while Gobber laughed at the joke. "Good one Phil," Gobber said to the sheep while continuing to laugh before calming down.
(Sighs) "Did I ever tell you about the first time I met the dreaded Boneknapper?" Gobber asked the teens in curiosity making them all lean forward to listen to the story.
"I was a young lad, about your age, on summer vacation with my family when I heard the call of nature. When I was done, I went to go back to my family's boat but then I saw a stunning sight before me. I saw an army of Vikings frozen in battle. Clutched in the fingers of one of the Vikings was a small treasure chest. I had to have it. So, I broke through the ice with my trusty axe and reached into the hole I made and pulled out the chest. It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. But the frozen Viking, was alive.
"He grabbed my arm and started punching me in the face causing me to lose one of my teeth. As I looked at my lost tooth, he started gesturing to something in the air and I looked to see what he was trying to tell me. And there it was, I never even heard it coming. The Boneknapper. He lunged at me but I dodged causing him to crash into the glacier causing an avalanche of frozen Vikings. He kept coming at me but I kept on ducking until I slipped on ice and let go of the treasure causing it to fall into the ocean. I reached into the water, only to find the frozen Viking there, punching me in the face again.
"The Boneknapper jumped onto the ice that held me, causing me to fly through the sky trying to reach for the treasure. The Boneknapper wanted that treasure, so he grabbed it and flew me towards an ice wall, but I wanted it more. So I yanked the treasure out of its grasp and went through the hole in the ice wall, causing it to crash into it and landed back on my family's boat safe and sound," Gobber says telling the story as if he was remembering that event like it was yesterday.
Finishing the story, Gobber began to laugh while the teens looked at him with uncertainty. "You expect us to believe that frozen Viking punched you in the face?" Snotlout asked with sarcasm.
"Yah, twice," Gobber replied while holding up 2 of his fingers with his real hand.
"Hey, it could happen," Helen said in a bit of a defensive tone to which the teens gave either 'uncertain' or 'I don't believe you' looks.
"What do you mean 'It could happen?'? It did! But I outsmarted the silent beast," Gobber insisted.
"Umm Gobber, I hate to be a stickler for details (not, Helen thought to herself), but Boneknappers are not silent," Fishlegs said stopping his rowing to insist on what he knows about from the Book of Dragons, unaware of the danger, on the water, behind him.
"Fishlegs, I know what I didn't hear," Gobber said in a bit of annoyance, before continuing, "Ahh but I could feel him coming. I've always had a sixth sense for danger. I could smell anything and taste the oncoming doom."
"Ahh guys," Fishlegs said trying to get the groups attention, as he, finally, notices some rocks sticking high out of the water, before continuing, "Are there supposed to be...?"
As Gobber continued with his talking, no one was listening to what Fishlegs was saying as he continued to say, "I really think we're gonna hit these...hey guys, we're gonna hit..."
The both of them were interrupted by the boat ramming against something causing Helen to fall onto the deck while everyone else fared well in holding onto their oar. Helen gave a look of annoyance in karma hitting her hard and stood up while Tuffnut went over to the edge of the boat, behind Fishlegs to see what they hit. "Whoa," he said in awe.
"Uhh, I'm tasting rocks," Audun said looking over to the side to see them leaned up against a huge rock.
"Really? I thought it was dirt," Helen said in a sarcastic tone rolling her eyes as she looked over to see the same result as Audun saw.
"Ah. We're here," Gobber said in a pleased tone.
Lucky for the group, they managed to spot land not to far from where they were stranded and all of them, including Phil, managed to get there before the boat sank into the sea. Ruffnut watched as the boat sank and groaned before saying, "Now we're stuck in the middle of nowhere and no one even knows where we are!"
As she said that, she came over to where to group stood, surrounded by a long black sheet of rock, with bones scattered all around the ground, and sat next to Helen as she sat down cross-legged to connect with her dragons. "Umm, exce...except the Boneknapper," Fishlegs said in fright before picking up a random bone and saying, "Legend says its roar..."
Snotlout, who has already had enough with Fishlegs's nonsense, made 'I'm so done with your stupid nonsense face (that Helen chuckled at), and said, "Hey do you know what Legend also says? Stop talking!"
"Okay, just hold on one darn second," Fishlegs said throwing the bone down in anger and ready to put Snotlout in his place.
"No need to panic kids. I've been shipwrecked many times," Gobber said in an assuring tone as he picked up a small rock.
"Oh, well. That's...comforting," Helen said as she came out of her trance in using her powers.
"You got anything Helen?" Audun asked curiously, to which Helen responded with a shake of her head making everyone, minus Gobber, groan in annoyance.
"Wanna try and work while those two are arguing?" Helen asked in a sarcastic tone while pointing at Fishlegs and Snotlout to which, once again, everyone, minus Gobber, remained silent, giving their answer.
(Sighs) "You never forget your first shipwreck. I was stranded on an island with only my broom. It was a very small island. It's no wonder the Boneknapper found me again. He never forgave me for taking that treasure and tried to attack me but I ducked just in time for it to only take out the remaining tree on the island. When the clouds cleared, there was another island. My only escape. But I was surrounded by bloodthirsty hammerhead sharks!
"The Boneknapper came around to come at me again, so I only had one chance. So, I ran across the shark infested water, taking them all out as they came at me. The Boneknapper was getting close and closer by the second. I didn't think that I was gonna make it. But then, from the depths of the ocean, leapt forth a giant hammerhead whale!" Gobber spoke, telling the story as if he was reliving that day again, while sharpening his hook with the rock he picked up earlier.
Everyone, even Helen, looked at him with disbelief in seeing that happen. "Whoa, and the hammerhead whale at the Boneknapper?" Fishlegs asked getting interested in the story Gobber was telling them.
"Almost, but he got away. Years later, the dragon hunted me down again and chased me into the jungle. All I had was my trusty eggbeater. I carved through that thick brush as fast as a jungle cat. Still, the Boneknapper was right behind me. I stopped to smell the azaleas but had to keep running. I ran up the side of the volcano and, courageously, leapt across the fiery crater. Then, deep within the burning volcano, burst forth the giant hammerhead yak!" Gobber replied before continuing his story.
"Okay, wait a minute, now you're saying a giant hammerhead yak leapt out of the fiery volcano and ate the Boneknapper?" Tuffnut asked Gobber, confused and seriously not believing this story anymore than anyone else.
"Ha, you would've thought so, wouldn't you? But the dragon got away again! I knew that bony scoundrel would keep coming after me. So I set up a gauntlet of traps and I waited for the beast. I played my guitar while waiting for the beast to come and, when he was ready, he charged! Then I ran like the wind, but the traps failed! Suddenly, I found myself on the edge of a cliff with the Boneknapper right behind me. Then, captured between his claws, I did what any brave Viking would do.
"I called for help. The gods must've heard my prayers because Thor himself appeared. He tossed a mighty thunderbolt that missed the Boneknapper and hit the ground below the cliff. I told Thor that he missed but he just told me to wait and then, from the center of the Earth, bursted forth the hammerhead yak riding  the hammerhead whale! The yak attacked the Boneknapper from both sides while the whale came forth swallowed the Boneknapper with one gulp. I managed to get away from that gulp and watched as the whale went back towards the center of the Earth with the yak not too far behind him. Both of them looked back to give me a salute and I saluted them back with teary eyes and a hurting back," Gobber said finally finishing his story on his feud with the Boneknapper.
The teens were all just shocked on how he could even say the story is true when it's like one that can just be made up for kids when they are 5 years old! "Whoa, the whale saluted you?" Fishlegs asked in awe making Gobber laugh before saying, "Can you believe it? But the Boneknapper got away again. He found me on Berk and..."
The rest of what Gobber said was lost when Snotlout started to talk, saying, "Are you kidding? I don't believe any of this."
"Yeah, you totally made everything up!" Tuffnut said in agreement with Snotlout.
"Come on Gobber, it's time to get out of here," Ruffnut said in annoyance.
"Gobber, we need to get home," Snotlout said in agreement with Ruffnut.
"You don't even have any proof that that thing exists!" Tuffnut protested.
"Of course I have proof, I still have the treasure. This stunning belt buckle. It was in the Viking's treasure chest. It's kept my pants up for years," Gobber said showing them the belt buckle, that was attached to his belt, that looked like a bone that was in the shape of a capital 'T'.
"It is stunning," Fishlegs admitted before Audun had enough of this and went over to where Helen was sitting before gently shoving her shoulder forward to Gobber as a way of saying 'talk to him'.
Helen narrowed her eyes at him before standing up, walking over to where Gobber stood and said, "Uh, listen Gobber, instead of chasing down an imaginary dragon, maybe we should figure out how to get home."
"Say no more. I hear you loud and clear. I've got a plan," Gobber said before standing up and asking the teens, "Alright, who'd like to be dragon bait?" while pointing at each of the teens, much to their shock.
Gasping, they all looked back to see Fishlegs standing behind them with Phil next to him. Fishlegs quickly looked down at Phil, hoping that it would be him who would be the dragon bait and not himself, but Phil scurried to the left leaving Fishlegs all by himself. The next thing Helen knew, Fishlegs was placed underneath a trap that held a huge ribcage over him with a horned skull placed on his head while ropes were tied over his face to look like Gobber's signature mustaches and a couple of other bones were used to tie in the hook for hand and peg leg for foot.
"Uhh, Gobber! Are you sure this is safe?!" Fishlegs yelled out in fright.
"Ah, safety's overrated," Gobber said waving his hand dismissively while walking back to the teens, who were standing from where they would be hiding.
This caused Fishlegs to become a bit more scared. "Okay, here's the plan. The Boneknapper wants me right? He comes down that trail, sees Fishlegs, thinks its me, rushes Fishlegs, causing Phil to trip that rope, dropping that ribcage, and then we rush in and finish him off once and for all," Gobber said to the teens, explaining the plan he had in mind with glee.
"It's sad when they get old," Snotlout whispered to Ruffnut.
"Gobber, you're taking this way too far. Okay? You need to face it! There is no such thing as the Boneknapper! Even my home says its a myth!" Helen said in annoyance finally having enough with Gobber's mythical tale of the Boneknapper.
"Wormsquat. Now get into position," Gobber said dismissing Helen's words before turning to Fishlegs and yelled, "Way to go Fishlegs, you're doing fine."
"No wonder the entire village thinks your crazy," Helen said in a bit of anger finally understanding why her father was annoyed whenever Gobber brought up the Boneknapper tale.
As she said that sentence, Fishlegs gasped in awe at seeing the Boneknapper fly in behind the teens, and Gobber, as they got into position by hiding behind a giant slab of black rock, and tried to warn them. "Um guys," he said but to no avail.
"Hello? He sees dead Vikings," Snotlout said in a teasing tone unaware that the Boneknapper landed right behind them.
"I see dead people ya idiot," Helen snapped and sent a small energy blast his way, hitting him in the face and knocking him to the floor to everyone's amusement.
"Yah, especially that thing about the...." Tuffnut was saying but was lost with the others starting to talk, with Audun joining in saying, "This is a complete waste of time.", unaware that the Boneknapper was creeping up on them.
"Hello? Turn around! Turn around! Hey! Guys! GUYS!" Fishlegs yelled trying to get their attention until he yelled out the last word very loudly.
"WHAT?!" they all, including Snotlout who was back into his original sitting position, asked him in annoyance.
Their question was answered when they heard a rattling of bones and a bit of a roar behind them. "It's right behind us, isn't it?" Helen asked in sarcastic and scared tone.
They all turned to see the massive dragon covered in bones from the tip of his horns to the tip of his spiked tail. Each time he moved, it sounded like bones were clanking against one another and when he opened his mouth to let out a roar, nothing but a small squeak happened. "Well what do you know? No roar," Fishlegs said in awe that Gobber was right.
The dragon looked down at all of them and was about to attack so Gobber quickly yelled out, "RUN!" to which the teens responded by running along with him to get away from the Boneknapper's fire blasts. "Okay Gobber, we believe you," Audun yelled as he and everyone else ran to where Fishlegs was in hopes of losing the Boneknapper there.
The Boneknapper used his spiked tail to bash into the ground causing a gust of wind to pick up quickly, sending everyone over to where Fishlegs was on the ground. Phil, in response to the wind, kicks the rope, which causes it to loose the ribcage, which causes the trap to fall on them. "Phil!" Gobber yelled in annoyance as he got back up and looked at his sheep in anger.
Hearing the Boneknapper come closer, everyone gasped and screamed as he got very close before beginning to breathe fire onto the trap. Immediately, Helen used her Ergokinesis powers to block the fire from getting to anyone, by making a green energy shield, and groaned from the impact the fire made on her. Snotlout, and everyone else, was behind her whimpering, while the others were just rolling their eyes in annoyance, "Find a happy place. Find a happy place."
The Boneknapper had enough and began smashing his head against the cage before getting on top of it and tried to bash his way in. "Oh no, no, no, no, please, please. Oh! Don't bash my head! He wants my head!" Fishlegs whimpered as everyone scattered after the Boneknapper was done using his fire at them while Helen looked up at where the Boneknapper stood above her and saw a hole on its chest armor.
She looked over to Gobber, who was busy yelling threats at the Boneknapper, telling him to bring it on, and saw his belt buckle showing. "Wait, it searches for the perfect bone to build its coat of armor," Helen quoted as she looked up at the hole to see that it was the exact shape of Gobber's belt buckle.
"The treasure!" she shouted in realization before yelling to Gobber, "Gobber, take off your pants!"
"Huh?" Gobber asked in confusion.
"No!" the teens yelled out.
"Wait, listen to me. I think Fishlegs was right. The Boneknapper is supposed to have a roar but maybe he can't because the bone he needs is your belt buckle. That is probably why I can't hear him say anything because he can't speak until he get's that buckle," Helen explained as the Boneknapper broke a piece of the ribcage's bone off and threw it aside.
"Gobber, please. You have to give it back," Audun said siding with Helen.
"No way, it's mine," Gobber said in a stubborn tone making Helen angry and say, "You won't do it, then I will."
Using her telekinesis, she brought the buckle to her and ran out the escape route the dragon provided while Gobber's pants fell down, showing his underwear. "I could've gone my whole life without seeing that!" Snotlout yelled before saying, "That's gonna give me nightmares!"
The Boneknapper took no more interest in the teens and was more interested in the strange girl running away from them. Quickly, he ran after her while the Vikings inside yelled out her name in fear. Coming to a stop a few feet away from the trap, Helen waited and narrowed her eyes in determination to help this dragon before tapping into her powers to allow her Lescrese heritage to show. Her birthmark glowed in a fiery green haze, causing the Boneknapper to come to a screeching halt.
(This is what it looks like. I did an edited version of it by myself. So this is what it truly looks like. Not my best work but at least its something.)
Opening her eyes, Helen allowed them to glow a bright green before transferring her energy into the small bone and tossed it to the Boneknapper. Using her telekinesis, she had it aim straight and true for the hole. Immediately, it lodged itself into the hole and was a perfect fit that the chest plate glowed a golden glow. The Boneknapper shook itself trying to get used to the feeling of the bone back in its place and let out a huge, shrieking, piercing roar yelling Yay!!!!
The roar was so intense that everyone covered their ears to block it out before all became quiet as the Boneknapper kneeled down to where Helen stood, after she kneeled down in pain from that roar before standing up. "Helen!" everyone shouted in fear of what this dragon could do to her.
"I know why you've been chasing that one legged man. He's been keeping that bone from you, never allowing you to speak nor allowing you to roar. But he's never really known that till now," Helen spoke making the Boneknapper tilt its head to the side and ask Really?
"Yes," Helen responded with a smile.
Who are you and how can you understand me? The Boneknapper asked curiously.
"My name is Helen De Zela Haddock and I am from Lescrese," Helen said showing her birthmark on her right arm.
The Lescrese? I thought they all died out, The Boneknapper said in awe.
"Technically they did but there have been reports of other survivors like myself. I, however, have yet to see if those reports are true. What's your name?" Helen asked in curiosity.
My name? The Boneknapper asked incredulous.
"I gotta call you something besides 'The Boneknapper'," Helen said making the teens and Gobber look at the interaction in awe.
Don't know. I've been chasing that Viking for so long that I've forgotten it. It has been getting lonely since I couldn't find the perfect bone to give me my roar and my ability to speak with other dragons, The Boneknapper said in a sad tone.
"Then come with us. You'll be welcomed on Berk and I can have you stay with me and my adoptive father until someone chooses you as their dragon," Helen said with a gentle smile.
Really? Are you sure? The Boneknapper asks in a happy tone wagging his tail like a puppy.
"I'm sure Spike," Helen said.
Spike? I like it, The Boneknapper, now dubbed Spike, said in a happy tone.
"Hey, can you give us a ride back to Berk?" Helen asks out of curisoty.
For you ma'am, sure, Spike said with a nod of his head.
"Guys! Spike can give us a ride home!" Helen shouted to her friends.
"WHO?!" everyone yelled out in confusion.
Rolling her eyes she yelled out, "The Boneknapper! That's his name! Spike is his name!"
"Oh," Everyone said in understanding.
"Wow, can't believe that my own foster cousin tamed a Boneknapper," Snotlout said in awe.
"Uh, she's your adoptive cousin Snotlout and at least be grateful she didn't hear you say that. Otherwise she'd leave you here on the island till your parents rowed out here to get you themselves," Ruffnut stated with a smirk making Snotlout widen his eyes in a bit of fright.
"Well, at least we have a ride home," Audun said as he watched Helen scratch Spike underneath his bone chin with a laugh and a smile.
Soon enough, everyone was sitting on the back of Spike riding him with glee. Phil rode in between Spike's skull spikes while everyone else rode on the back in between his wings and on his tail. Spike was really enjoying his roar and let it out to be known far and wide that he finally had his roar. "You know I never really doubted him. I was always like 'he was right'," Snotlout said gloating about his words on the trip there, much to Fishlegs's annoyance.
"Ugh, this tailbone is hurting my tailbone," Tuffnut groaned out in annoyance and in pain.
Spike let out another roar of enjoyment as they neared Berk's landsite, making everyone in the village come out and see what all this noise was about. "He sure seems happy to have that bone back," Helen noted with a smile on her face, as she sat behind Gobber, with Audun sitting behind her.
"Well, legend says that the Boneknapper's roar is its mating call," Fishlegs pointed out.
"Oh, that's just a myth," Gobber said dismissively.
Hook-handed man is right. We don't let out a mating call until its time for our species to come together and that isn't for a long time, Spike mentioned correcting what Fishlegs said causing Helen to laugh.
Everyone looked to Helen for translation while she laughed until she calmed down and said, "Spike said that Gobber is right. Only, he didn't call you by that name. He called you 'Hook-handed man'! (laughs with the rest of the group before continuing) They don't do their mating call until its time for their species to come together but that's not gonna be for a long time."
They came upon Berk and Spike landed in the middle of the town square, cause it was empty, where everyone could see them. "Hah, I think Stoick will believe me know eh?" Gobber asked in a sarcastic and laughable tone.
Helen laughed and dismounted from Spike, as he layed his body down to let everyone off, with the others following. She walked up and saw her dad staring at the dragon in awe. "Hey dad. Check it out! Gobber was right the whole time wasn't he?" Helen said in excitement making Spike let out a low happy growl.
Stoick just chuckled before smiling and saying, "Yes. Gobber, you were right the whole time. I'm sorry I didn't believe you old friend."
"Ah it's okay Stoick. Sometimes my stories are a bit far-fetched," Gobber said with a smile before walking over to where his blacksmith shop was.
"Dad, Spike needs a place to stay until someone claims him as their dragon. Can you build a stable for him until then?" Helen asks out of curiosity.
"Oh no Helen. You're not adding another dragon to the two you are already taking care of," Stoick said in a firm tone.
"But dad. He needs a place to stay until someone bonds with him. It's just temporary. Just until he finds a home. Please? For me?" Helen said batting her eyes and giving a huge smile that made Toothless and Silvershadow do a dragon laugh together.
Stoick looked over at the two dragons with a stern look on his face before looking over at the villagers, who were all smirking at his predicament, and looked down at his daughter before saying, "Fine, he can stay. But he's your responsibility until he bonds with the Viking he's meant to be with or finds his true home. Got it?"
"Yes dad," Helen responded before turning over to Spike and saying, "Come on Spike, I want to show you the cove where Toothless and I trained to help my dragon friend fly again."
Immediately, Spike got up and ran alongside Helen towards the forest with the other 2 dragons not far behind her. Gobber came out from his workshop and walked over to where his best friend stood before saying, "You know that nobody is going to bond with that dragon since they all believed that he was a myth right?"
"Probably. But are you going to tell my daughter that?" Stoick asked his friend rhetorically before turning to the villagers and saying, "Let's start building a stable for Spike and any other dragon my daughter may come across that would need her help."
Helen laughed as Spike flew around the cove and took in the entire view. She hoped that one day, Spike will find his family and be able to defend them just as her dragons have helped to defend her village. Until then, he would stay with them as their new addition to the dragon family.
