Chapter 11
It has been at least three days since the Zippleback incident and Helen has been making great recovery in Gothi's hut. Since Helen was in recovery, Gobber postponed dragon training until Helen was well enough to continue training. For Helen, that meant she couldn't make the adjustments she needed for the saddle and probably had Toothless and her birth mother worried to death. But finally Gothi gave the word that Helen could leave the hut only if she takes it easy for a couple of days. The warning was ignored as Helen sprinted out the door happy to be breathing in the fresh air once again.
Gobber just chuckled at the young girl's energy and shared a smile with Gothi, who just rolled her eyes in a playful manner at the girls eagerness to be outside again, before heading outside to make sure the lass doesn't hurt herself. When he came outside, he saw that Helen was already heading towards the woods. Thinking that she just wanted to be away from the village, he let that slide and headed towards the forge to fix up some weapons for the Vikings on his to-do list today.
In truth, Helen quickly maneuvered her way towards the cove and was immediately tackled to the ground by an angry Toothless. He began covering her in slobbering licks until he figured she had enough and got off of her to allow her to breathe. Helen sat up and began to try to wipe off the excess Nightfury saliva while playfully glaring at Toothless. Where were you? You had me worried sick about you! Toothless whined as he rubbed his head affectionately against her neck.
"I'm sorry but I got injured during dragon training with the Zippleback and couldn't leave Gothi's hut for three days but now I need to take the injuries easy for a couple of days. I'm sorry Toothless, I really am," Helen apologized sincerely as she continued to try wiping off the excess of the saliva without success.
This is one of the many reasons why I don't want you going to that class Helen, Toothless stated in a strict tone.
"Well, I'm fine now and actually don't have the upgraded prosthetic tail fin right now, because the only thing I wanted to do was see you, but I will get it some other time after training is done for today," said Helen in a regretful tone but turned it into a happy tone.
Toothless just bounced around and smiled a gumless smile before a shining figure appeared. "Really? What is it with you and your dramatic appearances evey time mom?" Helen asks dramatically as her birth mother appeared in her same form from before.
Hey, you gotta respect the elders child, her mother replied in a playful, yet strictful, tone.
Helen just smiled and rolled her eyes a bit before getting serious for another training session with her birth mother. She lunges to the left just as her birth mother starts the element of surprise by attacking head on. Quickly, Helen brings her Viking sword up just as her mother brings down her own sword to clash on top of Helen's. They got at it again for a few more minutes, with Toothless laying down looking bored, before they call it a quits. Well, are you gonna work on Toothless's tail or what? her mom asks in a sarcastic way before disappearing.
"Do you wanna try flying bud?" Helen asks Toothless who perks his head up at that question and eagerly runs over to her.
Only if you're up for it, he replies with his tongue lagging out as if he was panting like a pet.
"Okay then, I'll head back for my stuff and if I'm not back yet before the afternoon, then I'm probably in dragon training and won't be back until later on. But don't worry, I'll bring you some food. Okay bud?" Helen asks in a sweet tone.
Alright but make it quick. I wanna fly again! Toothless replied in a exasperated tone.
"You took me on a highly unauthorized flight when I was putting your prosthetic tail on. I'm sure you can manage," Helen said to him in a stern tone reminding him of the first time he was able to fly again.
Right. Hehe... sorry? he asks in a sheepish tone.
Helen just rolls her eyes, in a playful manner, before laughing a bit and heading out. So I guess that that was a yes. Humans are just very odd these days, Toothless thought to himself as he watched Helen leave.
"Uh, I am a human Toothless but you know that I can hear your thoughts right now and let me just say that on behalf of all humans in this world that I am offended by that very thought young man!" Helen shouts out to him in a stern tone outside the cove now.
That just made Toothless blush a bit before he heated up the grass around him and layed himself down for a quick nap until Helen gets back. Helen just shook her head and muttered "boys, they never learn" before heading off.
When she made it to the forest line, Helen began heading to the house to get her stuff from there but was interrupted when she heard Audun shouting her name and running over to her. "Hey, where were you? Training is about to start soon and Gobber has been looking for you."
"Oh. I'm sorry. I wasn't informed that training was right now. Let me just get my sword and shield and I'll be right there," Helen replied to Audun while smacking her forehead with her right hand before heading into her house and grabbing her stuff for Viking Dragon Class Training.
She headed out and ran along with Audun to the training arena while making sure that her wounds were gonna be okay and won't reopen during training. When they arrived, class was about to begin and they silently made their way to the end of the line to not draw attention to themselves. "Today you will meet the Terrible Terror," Gobber announced as he opened the cage to allow the dragon out but a small cage flap opened and out came a green, red, orange, and yellow scaled small dragon with tiny horns and big eyes.
It looked at them before licking it's eye and placing it back in his mouth. "Ha! It's like the size of my...." Tuffnut was about to say but was cut off by the Terror growling Shut up! and jumping onto his face biting his nose off to teach him a lesson.
Tuffnut fell over onto his back from the force of the impact that he took when the Terror jumped on his face and felt really hard pain as the Terror bit down hard on his nose. "Get it off!" he shouted out in pain.
Helen just smiled and came over to the Terror, who stopped and looked up at her to see what other victim he may have to terrorize when he smelt something on this girl that was familiar. Taking advantage of his distraction, she quickly used the metal of her shield to make him see a shiny dot. Quickly, the Terror ran after it but was caught into Helen's hands. That was when the Terror realized that she was one of the survivors of the Lescrese by feeling the power flowing through her body and a bit of dragons blood in her system.
Gently, so as to not startle him into attacking her while Tuffnut cried out in pain saying that he was hurt, Helen carefully placed him back in his cage and placed her foot against the flap to make sure that he wouldn't get out. "Rule number one, always be stealthy with a small dragon," Helen reminded the shocked teens in a sassy tone.
Gobber laughed at that comment, mostly because he taught her the rules of dragon training, and came over to the class saying that it was dismissed for today and that they will work on the Nadder tomorrow. Being dismissed allowed Helen to quickly run off and get her stuff from her home before heading on out into the forest to go see Toothless.
