Serena's Pov

Nate won his battle, which is no surprise, but him using a Pokémon no one had ever seen before to win was the most shocking of all. To think the manliest guy in school would have such a cute Pokémon!

It's quite obvious why he hid it. He wanted to use it in battle, but got too nervous to show it to his classmates. His main concern was Ethan, but Ethan couldn't care less anymore.

Still, Calem did say people who get better at the moment don't get better all together. The way he freaked out was quite sad to look at. I've seen him cry before, but I never expected him to have a nervous breakdown so quickly when he's spend most of his life trying to avoid it. At least from what he said.

Luckily something had knocked him back to his senses. Rosa was talking to the air before he suddenly started floating, like there was something there that we couldn't see. In a heartbeat, he relaxed and went to battle with the Pokémon that he was most likely ashamed about.

Second goes to Brendan as well for having the guts to show the entire class that he had a love for cute Pokémon. In my opinion, showing off his Pokémon isn't even close to showing what he likes. I know he likes to knit and make clothes. It's quite adorable, but I still have yet to know what Nates really been hiding. Only Rosa may know.

"What are you thinking about?" Calem asked me while I stared at the random classmates fighting each other.

"Hm?" I chuckled "nothing much. I just want to know who I'll be battling" he snorted.

"Sure... I totally believe you" I giggled and cuddled into his arms.

"You got me. I love you so much" I rubbed my cheek on his chest "Aside from actually wondering who I'm going to battle, I'm a bit curious about everyone and what their lives will be like after we leave Unova. Ethan and Kris are staying, changing lifestyles after a huge miracle... Dawn, Barry, and Lucas are a trio who are so far from being similar, yet knows what their future may hold. Brendan and May are best at what they do and will make use of those talents. Rosa, Nate, and Huge will most likely defeat a whole organization and stuff, and..." I sighed "You're smart and everything! Leaving me to wonder what's so special about me? Why did you ask me to come here anyways?"

"What? This again? Come on, Serena" he hugged me closely "I offered because you were my neighbor! I was trying to be friendly since my mom asked me to ask you" he waved his hand while rolling his eyes "since my mom would pay to bring us here since she's so rich"

Calem came from a rich family and often doesn't like talking about them or to them. He never brings them up. Only when I start doubting myself on why I'm here if I'm not all that special. I was asked to be here for the sake of his mom not wanting him to go alone. His mom paid me to be his body guard because I was a tough girl. Little would she expect that we ended up together.

"Yeah" I responded "And? That doesn't make me feel better" he sighed.

"All I'm saying is that my mom had always been picky. She always picked my friends when I was a kid and never cared about my feelings. There was something in you that she liked, and that says a lot" he tucked my hair behind my ear "You're tough, which has so many benefits to our future. You're a bit weird when you want to be when stalking people and trespassing, but you're creative and really good at guessing that it's scary how it's not you being smart" I sneakered and laid my head on his lap.

"I am pretty good, huh? Well, in any case, maybe when we go back home, we'll meet new rivals and defeat an organization that's aiming to destroy the world or something" he laughed with me.

"Well, I'll be there to lend a hand" I smiled.

"I'm so glad you stopped calling me neighbor"

"Well, when we go back home, we will be again" I sat up.

"Oh come on!" He's totally going to call me that again! How boring!

"Number 14!" Cheren yelled to the class. I gasped and stood up. It's down to that number already?!

"Alright!" I looked at Rosa standing and looking at me "Are you 14 too?" She nodded with a smile "This is going to be awesome!" I cheered and ran to the battle field while she took her time, leaving her Zorua and Larvesta with Nate. If she's not going to use Zorua, is she really going to use the Pokémon she awakened in the hospital?

"The battle between Rosa and Serena will begin whenever both parties are ready to fight! Ladies, are you ready?!" Cheren yelled. I took out my Pokéball with the Pokémon I couldn't wait to use and nodded. Rosa just lifted her hand in a gentle motion without a Pokéball, and nodded "alright! Begin!"

"Let's go! Tyrunt!" I send out my adorable Pokémon that I revived from a fossil back home. It was a Pokémon that I have left from my dad "Come on, Rosa! Which Pokémon are you going to use?!" I asked excitedly. She smiled and snapped her fingers, making a Pokémon I never seen before appear from thin air.

"Go! Victini!" She yelled out, making the Pokémon float to the battle field. I held my chin.

"Cool..." so this is the Pokémon she's been hiding in that room behind two guards. Must be a legendary or something "I've been trying to get pass those guards for a long time! So this is the Pokémon that kept you from getting another Pokémon, huh?" Victini looked back at Rosa confused. Rosa rubbed the back of her head before Victini snapped at her. Zorua quickly ran over to translate.

"What do you mean you were without a Pokémon?! Were you like this while I was asleep the whole time!?" Zorua yelled. Rosa started sweating.

"W-Well you see..." Rosa nervously laughed.

"Something bad could had really happened to you!" Zorua continued.

"It already had" I said outloud, making everyone look at me "She's ran into Team Plasma over and over again, taking beatings from them without telling anyone" Zorua gasped.

"What did she say?!" Her Victini shouted as well. I giggled while Rosa whined at me.

"Serena! Why would you say that?!"

"You are more than worthy of being protected" I said, making her calm down "You think you can go through so much and not get punished for making everyone worry? You didn't want your Victini to think you were replacing it" Victini flinched and shouted again.

"I'm sorry!!" Rosa whined. I giggled and looked at Tyrunt digging in the dirt, looking bored.

"That's what you get for going through so much on your own. Nobody can scold you like your own Pokémon can. I must say, you're very lucky" I softened my smile "I'm talking too much, am I? Sorry I snitched. You can hate me if you want"

"Serena..?" Rosa frowned. I pointed at the opponent.

"Let's go, Tyrunt! Give it all you got! Use crunch!" And with that, our battle began. I had predicted that Tyrunt and I would lose from the moment Rosa said her last command. I returned my Pokémon before the attack hit and called it a day.

"You win" I rubbed my arm.

"Huh?" Rosa questioned.

"I already know you're going to win, so there's no point in hurting my Pokémon any further" I sighed and smiled again "You have a rare Pokémon on your side. It's so obvious. Everyone is so great..." I played with my hair, chuckling "I enjoyed our battle!" I flipped my hair and walked up to Cheren "Sorry, but I need to go to the little girls room" he cleared his throat and nodded, letting me enter the building.

"Serena!" Rosa jogged over to me "is something wrong?" I looked back at her and smiled.

"Why would something be wrong?" She frowned.

"I know a fake smile when I see one" I dropped my expression a little before putting it back on.

"You're really smart. Don't worry, I just need to use the restroom. I'll feel better" I played with her hair before leaving while it flowed through the wind. I entered the bathroom to wash my face and look at myself in the mirror, seeing the pathetic look on my face.

"She's so great... Everyone is so great. There's never a day when I stop wondering why I'm even here" I'm not rich at all and just a girl with naughty thoughts and creepy motives. I can admit that I have a hard time knowing how to end a battle, and seeing everyone so happy makes me just question myself even more. I wish I understood what it means to belong... I wish I was like Rosa... She was fine with being alone before, but when I'm left alone and Calem isn't around, I'm empty and hateful.

I pulled up my sleeve and stared at all the cuts I made on there "They're nothing but scars now... but" I took out a pocket knife "I can never seem to feel the pain. Will it hurt this time?" Before I got to point the blade to the skin, someone gently grabbed my hand, making me drop it.

"What did I tell you about forcing yourself to be alone?" Calem asked. I bit my lips and looked down "There are children in this building right now. Don't even think about it" I smiled at him.

"Sorry!" I giggled "Must've gotten carried away!"

"What I said didn't do much, huh?" I rubbed my arm.

"There's nothing special about me, no matter what you say. It's about what I see... and I don't see much" I looked at my shaking hands "I watch everyone and trespass to get to know them better. I spy and I don't regret it. I love seeing a spooked and happy reaction from people. You can say I'm nothing without people around me. How can I possibly go through life like this? Who even knows how long you'll stick around and get bored of me. You'll find something better and I'll be alone again" I looked at my nails "It's okay. We might be together all the time, but I never forgotten who I am" he brought me into his arms and pressed his lips on mine, shocking me.

"It doesn't matter" he hugged me "I fell in love for who you are, not what you are. We'll go home and find what you're good at. Okay?" I sighed and hugged him back, feeling myself tear up.

"Okay..."

Rosa's Pov

I watched Serena leaving the battle field with a fake smile and expression that was hiding how hurt she looked. I'm not sure if it's the match that she was upset about, but she didn't seem to want to finish it.

"Was it something I did?" I started biting my nails "Oh no... Did I disappoint her?" Hilda walked up to me "Hilda! Did I do something bad?" She smiled and pet my head.

"Losing in a battle isn't all that bad as you think. People learn to accept a lost. I don't think she's bothered by that" she clapped her hands "Alright everyone! That was an amazing match! Time for the next round!" I sighed and let her do what she had to do while I go back to sit next to Nate watching me come over with Victini floating to lay on his head.

"So that's what it was" he said, looking up "Are you okay? Rose?" He asked.

"I'm fine. Just thinking about Serena" I hugged his arm "are you okay?" He chuckled.

"For the 10th time. I'm okay now. I'm sorry I scared you like that" he looked at Victini on his lap, clearly invisible "This was the thing that snapped me out of it, huh?"

"Yes. She has the ability to show you visions. What did she show you?" He held my hand.

"Back in the hallway when you hit Ethan" I sat up and looked at him confused.

"What?" We heard Victini giggling "I will never understand how you were able to see that, yet you didn't know I didn't have a Pokémon this whole time?"

"Vi!"

"She says that the visions form through your greatest fear and mash with different aspects in your mind. It's misleading sometimes, but it depends on how you're feeling" Zorua said "That's pretty cool!"

"So what I saw wasn't real?! Or going to happen?!" May gasped "Thank goodness! I was going crazy!" She collapsed on the bench in relief.

"May?" Brendan questioned. I hummed to myself and searched on Nate's lap, making him go stiff for some reason. My hand touched Victinis leg.

"I see" I smiled. I took a deep breath and glanced at the guys wiggling their eyebrows at Nate. Making him glare and looked back at the battle. Later on, Calem and Serena walked back to us. I was the first to get up and approach them.

"Serena!" I took her hands "Are you okay? Is something the matter?" She seemed a bit surprised before smiling and hugged my head.

"Aren't you a sweetheart!" I giggled "Don't worry dear! I'm fine!" I hugged her back, making her shake like she didn't expect me to do so.

"You can always tell me what's wrong... Is it something I did..?" She squeezed me a bit. I frowned and pet her head.

"No, it's not that-"

"We only got to use one Pokémon! Don't feel bad... You were really good at battling!" She looked up at me with sad eyes "You could easily defeat me!"

"Rosa, I..."

Serena's Pov

Rosa interrupted my thoughts "As you go on your journey, maybe you can become champion!" My eyes widened. Champion..? I never thought of... "It'll suit you a lot!" I stared at Rosa surprised before feeling my eyes starting to burn, and hugged her again "Serena?"

"You got it... I'll become a champion. I'll work hard and search for myself through out my journey" she turned to look at me a little "I've had a hard time finding a place of my own... Everyone here is so talented. Even you. I have yet to know what I want. Whether being a champion will suit me most, I'll try my best" I shut my eyes, shedding some tears "I love you all... I'll miss everyone" she hugged me tightly.

"I love you too, Serena... Thank you for giving me the chance to be everyone's friend. I wouldn't have gone to that dinner if you never invited me" It was my pleasure... I'm so happy to have all my friends worried about me. I couldn't ask for anything better. Once I get home... I wonder if I'll find more friends who will join me and Calem on our journey. I look forward to the future... for the first time in a long time.
