6. The Embrassing Fall

After waving Jessica a good-bye, I started walking towards my class. My phone beeped. It was a text from Alex wishing me a good morning. He could not come to drop me to the university today due to some important work. Although, he assured me that he would pick me up.

I started texting him back while walking towards my class. Suddenly, I tripped on something and fell down on my knees with my feet in a weird position. My knees gave up making me land straight on my face. My phone flew and fell at a distance from me. My phone! What am I going to do without it!

I couldn't get up quickly on my own as my body was still in a state of shock by what just happened and my left foot was hurting real bad, my knees too. After some seconds of laying right in the middle of the corridor, I noticed people looking at me, most of them had even stopped walking.

Some had a look of sympathy while most others looked amused. I let the embrassment of it all sink in. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath to calm myself down. I looked around to see my phone laying in front of me out of my hands reach. A can was lying nearby too, I had tripped on it.

Right next to it I saw someone standing. I panicked as I didn't want my phone to be under their feet. I looked up in a hurry. It was Cole, standing coolly with his eyes fixed on me. I looked at him. There was a slight hope in me that he would help me.

But all he did was shake his head and turn around to walk towards the class. I felt anger rising in me. I cursed him under by breath before trying to get myself up. Two guys reached me and helped me get up. One girl got my phone to me.

I realised one of the guy is in the same class as I am. I thanked them all and tried to walk. My left foot hurt so bad, it felt almost immovable. I was about to lose my balance again when the guy from my class held me.

"Thank you," I mumbled.

"Let me take you to the office and have first aid done."

"No, I am alright. I would be late for the class."

"Alright, let me help you to the class then,"

He slipped his hand on my back to support me while holding my hand from his other hand. I felt awkward to be in that position. He sensed it.

"I am Mike," he grinned showing off his pearly white teeth with braces on them.

He was tall, dark with black curly hair and a good physique.

"I am Angel," I grinned back awkwardly.

I tried to keep my body away from his but I couldn't help it much.

"You don't have to look so uncomfortable, I am just trying to help,"

"I know and I am so thankful for that,"

"Yeah, I would have tried to hit on you but I am more into guys..."

"Oh..." I said with my mouth wide open.

Somewhere inside I felt really happy that maybe I have the slightest chance to have a gay bestfriend. They are always more understanding and caring than the usual guys. 'Uh, shut up! He isn't even your friend!' my inner voice pointed out.

We reached the class and he helped me to my bench. I thanked him again before he went to his own place.

My eyes drifted towards Cole, he was busy writing something. I felt my hands turn into a fist looking at him. I didn't say anything though, there was no use of talking to him.

After all the lectures ended, Mike helped me again to walk out of the university. We chatted and exchanged numbers which boosted my hopes of having a friendship with him even more. He was a very nice guy.

Mike offered to drop me home but I politely declined. I informed him that my boyfriend was going to pick me up. He offered to wait till Alex comes, but I assured him I'll be alright.

I tried to call Alex. My phone was thankfully working properly. It just had suffered some scratches on the screen but otherwise everything was alright. Alex didn't pick my call. I kept trying for a while but to no avail.

I thought he must be busy so I decided to wait for a while. It was very difficult for me to stand for so long on the support of a pillar. The pain in my left foot had worsened although my knees felt better now. I couldn't wait more. So I called up Jessica.

She told me she was out with Ethan and it would require them an hour to get back here. She promised me that she will work something out before ending the call.

I thought of hiring a cab but because the university was situated on a hilly area it was very difficult to get cabs out here. Even the nearest bus station was ten minutes down the slope.

I didn't think I was in the right condition to walk down a slope currently. I decided to wait as Jessica had told while simultaneously I kept calling Alex. I had done over 20 calls to Alex, I gave up. He will call me back whenever he sees them.

My phone rang. It was Jessica. She said that she had arranged a ride for me to home. I thanked her and she ended the call. I forgot to ask her who was coming to drop me, so I called her again.

I saw a black car coming towards me and it stopped. Jessica picked the call. I said I'll call her back and ended it. The window came down and I saw it was Cole. I froze and pushed myself more firmly on the pillar behind me.

"Get in," he said.

"No thank you, I'll find some other way to reach home." I stated rudely.

He looked at me and then his lips turned into a smirk.

"You intend to stagger all the way to your home while falling over a hundred times on your face along the way?" he questioned amusingly.

"That's none of your concern."

"I am not concerned a bit about it although I would love to see you limping and falling all the way. What a great entertainment would it be for a ride back home after a tiring day."

I felt to smash his face with something. But I knew it wasn't the right time to fight with him when I'm barely able to walk. I just looked away and shouted,"Just leave!"

He started driving slowly ahead.

Please vote if you enjoyed it and comment to let me know what you think about the chapter and especially about Cole.
