21. Pillow Fights

"So, tell me what's brewing between you and Cole?"

Jessica questioned with a twinkle in her eyes. How I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from asking her to stay with me tonight! I couldn't lie to her nor did I have any intention of hiding anything from her. Yet I knew if I told her about what happened, she wouldn't miss any chance she gets to take a jibe at me about it.

"Are you going to tell me or not?" she asked impatiently and hit my head with a pillow.

"It's... It's nothing really," I said although I was quite sure this won't make a difference. She would pester me until I told her but what's the harm in trying?

The pillow again hit my head, this time with more force. My head twitched due to the intensity making me wince.

"WHAT THE...!" I shouted and picked up a pillow and hit her head hard with it. She hit me again, this time the pillow landed right on my face hurting my nose. I slammed her face back with it. Jessica squealed before attacking me again. We kept attacking each other for a while until the door of threw open.

"What is going on here!" Cole raved.

We both stopped. We went quiet for a moment as we catch our breath then Jessica gave me an evil smirk.

"We were talking about-"

I quickly covered her mouth with my hands. I knew what this evil woman was about to blurt.

"Don't you see? We were just having a fun pillow fight!" I laughed nervously and glared at Jessica before withdrawing my hands from her mouth.

Cole looked puzzled.

"Yes, a very fun pillow fight indeed!" Jessica smirked.

"And you should have knocked before coming in! There are two young ladies in here. Can't you see? Get out right away!" I said. I didn't want him to stand even a second more in front of Jessica or else I was sure she would make a wicked remark.

"Excuse me? This is my home! How can you ask me to get out in that tone?"

"Well, well, I am already starting to enjoy your lovers' bickering!"

Cole looked at her wide-eyed. I shut my eyes in anger and embarrassment.

"Cole, can you please leave? Don't pay attention to her. Please?" I requested to save myself from more shame.

Cole nodded with a puzzled look on his face and left.

I glared at Jessica. She returned a sweet smile to me.

" You didn't have to do that," I said.

" I wouldn't have if you had not tempted me to do so. You see, it's not smart to hide things from your best friend."

I rolled my eyes in response.

"Now speak!"

"It's nothing, we just kissed," I mumbled making circles with my finger on the pillow on my lap.

"Oh, la la! I can already see your cheeks turning red!"

"No, what you are thinking it's not like that and it is never going to be that," I stated.

"That I can see..."

"Yes, you will see. He isn't my type." I said even though I was aware it was partly a lie.

"He gets on my nerves so much. I absolutely hate him most of the time," I explained.

"And what about the other times?"Jessica winked.

"Shut up! I mean he is so rude and egoistic most of the times!"

"At least, he isn't a drug lord," Jessica replied.

It hurt like a knife through my heart and at the same time made me tremble.

"Hey, I am sorry." Jessica hugged me.

I took a deep breath as she rubbed my back.

"The moment Alex confessed to me that he liked me too...It was one of the best things that ever happened to me, but now...It all has vanished. I had known him for so many years how could I never notice him beyond his boyish charms?"

"It's okay, Angel," Jessica whispered moving her hand through my hair.

"I should have been more vigilant around him," I said.

"It's alright, we are here for you and we will deal with him. Don't worry,"

I nodded at her with a sad smile.

"Now, tell me about the kiss!" Jessica chuckled.

"What about it?" I asked innocently as Jessica eyed me.

"Stop looking at me like that!" I giggled.

"Well, we were having a heated argument as usual-"

"And then it turned into a hot make-out session?" she laughed.

"No! He told me to get out and I was just leaving and he pulled me back and kissed me."

"And?" she asked in an excited tone.

"And, then you came," I huffed. Why did I say it that way?

"And you seem so disappointed because I came,"

"No, I'm not."

"Yes, you are!"

"No!"

"Well, you don't have to be sad about it. Now you are living at his home. I'm sure you both would have plenty of time for it." winked Jessica.

"No, we are just friends. And it was just one kiss, nothing else." I clarified.

"Now, I'm really tired and I want to sleep. You too have university tomorrow so better sleep instead of showing your teeth to me,"

"Okay," Jessica laughed.

I switched on my phone. There were 24  calls from Alex. I shuddered. Jessica snatched the phone from my hand and switched it off again.

"You will have security soon. We three are there for you too!"

"I know but I can't hide away from him forever!"

"I know but promise me you won't do anything stupid this time that will get you in more trouble than you already are in, please,"

"Okay, but I need to confront him," I said.

"You will, but not now. You will not do anything or go anywhere alone until then," Jessica pleaded.

"Okay, I won't," I said.

"Yes, now try and get some sleep."

I laid on the bed and Jessica covered us up in a blanket. I kept thinking about Alex until I drifted off to sleep.
