Promises are meant to be broken
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------MONDAY----------(the same day for both POVs)----------------
Lilly's POV
"I need you to follow me'', I said confidently
"Okay, but will I come back?", she asked me suspiciously.
"Of course!", I assured her. Although the look on her face remained sceptical.
I half lead, half dragged her to my hotel lobby. The hotel was empty, all the tourists had gone out to the beach. Perfect timing.
I had just convinced a potential suspect into a casual interrogation. The woman I had asked to follow me identified herself as "Lyla", and she said that she had a small souvenir business. She haden't confirmed whether she was a Peabody or not, and how she ended up at the Peabody's house. I was just going to try to find out as I asked her if she wanted a cup of coffee.
The key to a successful interrogation was just to pretend that it simpy isin't an interrogation!
"Why have you brought me here and Who are you?", she asked authoratatively.
"My name is Lilian and I heard 'bout your business so I wanted to invest in it.", I said confidently.
"How did you know?", Lyla demanded.
"I was researching for investable small businesses and I found your cottage.", I replied.
"How much",she asked.
"Huh? What do you mean?",I replied, bewildered by her question.
"How much will I pay you to make sure you don't go round telling people about my 'business' ", she whispered all of a sudden using air quotes and a sly expression as she moved her hand towards her back pocket. I had to act fast before she either threatened me or someone walked into the lobby. I had to accept her offer.
"I'll take 500 million rupiahs", I said confidently. "no more, no less." I had quickly calcuated that amount equaled to 35000 dollars. Lyla looked at me like she expected it and then moved sowly towards me. "You'll get your money but you can't breathe a word or else", she said as she swiftly pulled out a gun from her back pocket and showed it to me under the table. "yeah", I muttered, throwing in a lot of fear in one word. I had to make her believe that I was scared. I had to make sure she didn't find out about the police I called for backup. I picked up my to-go coffee and quickly opened the exit door. Just as I was leaving I turned around to see the police officers enter the lobby and greet Lyla. Could it be a coincidence?
Samuel's POV
Miss had been home all day.
I knew this because I could hear her screaming at Barky (her dog) to stop barking as she watched her favourite show, "psycho."
She seemed like such a normal woman when you first meet her but you'd be in for a surprise!
I had spent a couple of days in the caves, when I found the exit! Well, the tiny 1 foot by 1 foot escape tunnel that Mara dug out for herself didn't fit me at all but I found hope there and I was determined to get out. I quickly pulled Mara's diary into my pocket and started digging.
