Percy Wants to Join the NBA (Jercy)

Y'all I'm bad at one shots bc I'm constantly trying to develop entire plot lines every time I write something. Literally have to cut myself off from continuing sometimes. Example A is below. Have fun.

"Jason Grace, you'll be working with Percy Jackson."

Jason's gaze desperately flicked up to his teacher behind his gold-framed glasses. Her smile was apologetic, but she didn't spare Jason much sympathy before continuing to call out more partners. Why did she hate him?

He didn't get why they couldn't choose their own partners—this final project was worth 20% of his grade, after all. He didn't even want to work with someone else in the first place, and now he had to work with Percy Jackson, of all people? Besides the fact that he was downright terrifying and never smiled as far as Jason could tell, Jackson hadn't scored higher than a D on any of their tests, hadn't turned in more than one homework assignment per chapter, and only showed up to class on time about twice a week. He'd just transferred at the start of the school year, and Jason wondered how he even got into the school.

This was going to destroy Jason's grade.

"Ma'am, I don't want to be an inconvenience," Jason approached his teacher at her desk on his way out of class, "but is there any way I could work with someone else on the final project?"

"I promise this is the best situation for you, Jason," she assured him, "You wanted to work by yourself, and knowing Mr. Jackson, I'm sure you will get that opportunity."

"And he gets credit for my work?" Jason asked incredulously.

"I want him to pass my class so he can graduate," she admitted shamefully, "I think you can help him."

Jason knew he was being guilt-tripped. He knew. It still worked. He gave a heavy sigh, thanking his teacher before heading to his locker. His two best friends waited by his locker, and Jason received both a frown and raised eyebrows directed towards Jason's brooding.

"What's up with you?" Piper, his frowning friend, asked.

"We got our final biology partners," Jason informed her and Leo as he shoved some notebooks into his backpack, "and I'm working with Percy Jackson."

Leo grimaced, although his face held a hint of amusement that was clearly only being held back for Jason's sake. "Have fun with that. I heard he was an asshole."

"Our teacher seemed to think he wouldn't be speaking to me at all, so I don't think I have to worry about that."

"That sucks," Piper sympathized as Jason shut his locker.

The three of them left shortly after, Jason explaining how he'd get to work alone like he wanted, at the very least. Eventually, he forced a subject change—he was sick of feeling aggravated and wanted to think about literally anything else.

He could be mad about the project another time.

*****

Jason studied the schedule that hung on the inside door of his locker, trying to decide which books he wanted to carry around for the morning. However, his door was suddenly snatched further back, startling Jason as he came face to face with none other than his beloved biology partner.

"When do you wanna work?" Percy asked abruptly.

"Excuse me?" Jason frowned. Maybe a greeting would've been nice.

"On the project," Percy looked at Jason like he was the stupid one, "How's Wednesday night?"

"I don't need your help," Jason's words were harsher than intended.

Percy scowled. "But I want to help."

"But I don't need your help," Jason repeated.

With a final annoyed look in Jason's direction, Percy settled on, "I'll come over Wednesday at 7. Bye, Grace."

Percy nodded his head at Piper as she walked by, and she walked up to Jason looking incredibly confused.

"You officially working on it alone?" She asked.

Jason shook his head. This was worse. "Apparently we're working on it Wednesday."

*****

Jason's doorbell rang at exactly seven. He was sitting at the table doing homework while his mother washed some dishes from dinner.

"Are you expecting someone, dear?" She gave him a questioning glance.

He sighed with more annoyance than Jason thought he was capable of. "Yeah, sorry. It's for my biology project."

"I thought you said your partner wasn't helping."

"I was wrong," Jason muttered just loud enough for her to hear as he finally made his way to the front door.

He pulled the door open to, unfortunately, reveal Percy Jackson. Jason wasn't sure why he was surprised that Percy wasn't wearing their uniform—they'd been out of school for hours at that point. Instead, he donned a grey Aerosmith shirt with ripped black jeans and the same navy blue, almost dark enough to be perceived as black, converse that he wore to school every day.

"My sister listens to them," Jason nodded at his shirt, wishing he wasn't the worst at holding conversations.

Percy looked unimpressed. "Good for her. Can I come in? It's freezing out here."

"Try a jacket," he suggested, letting Percy step inside nonetheless. Percy offered him a lazy glare but couldn't exactly argue.

Jason wordlessly gestured at the pile of shoes by the door and made his way to the kitchen to grab his bag. He returned to find Percy curiously observing the new environment.

Jason cleared his throat. "We can work in my room."

Percy's gaze drifted over to him, and he just gestured for Jason to lead the way before following behind him. Jason winced a bit as he entered his bedroom with Percy. His room was always cleaner than most he'd seen, but he was still embarrassed about someone seeing his space before he got the chance to clean it out properly.

"Your house is nice," Percy took a seat at Jason's desk, his tone oddly genuine.

"Uh," Jason responded intelligently as he hoisted himself and his backpack onto his bed, "thanks."

Unsurprisingly, Percy admitted that he didn't exactly know what the project was, so Jason spent a few minutes explaining the premise. It was simple enough—they were just creating a slideshow about a topic related to one of the units they'd covered so far. Percy let Jason choose. Now, they were browsing for a good source to base their project on, Percy on his phone and Jason on his laptop.

"Grace," Percy muttered, offering his phone to the blond that showed a great article that Jason was certainly not expecting. "Don't look too surprised."

Now Jason was embarrassed. He handed his phone back with a nod and an awkward smile. "Looks great."

"What's your number? I'll send you the link," Percy switched to his contacts app with a bored expression as he listened to Jason ramble off his 10 digits. Jason suddenly received a hyperlink from an unknown number.

They got to reading on their own, and Jason couldn't help but wonder if Percy was as uncomfortable as he was. He glanced up about halfway through the 12-page article to find his partner with a distressed look in his eyes, his thumb and index finger resting on his temples.

"You good?" He asked against his better judgment.

"I'm fine," Percy glared at him, sighing as he glanced back down, "just dyslexic. This format sucks."

Jason decided not to continue the conversation, but he understood what Percy meant when his eyes returned to the article. The words were dark and smashed together, and the font was altogether shitty. Even Jason hated reading it, frankly.

While Percy tried to finish the reading, clearly frustrated, Jason started laying out an outline on their slideshow. Percy joined him a few minutes later, claiming that he'd finish the reading later. Jason had little faith. By the time they'd established everything they would be including, Jason's clock showcased a bright red 8:30 on his nightstand.

"Should you be getting home?" He asked curiously, adding the citation for their article on the last slide.

Percy sighed, glancing at the clock. "S'pose. Let me know when you're free. I'll find my way out of here."

"Bye, Percy," Jason' time with Percy was significantly less painful than he thought it would be.

Percy threw up a wave and shut Jason's door behind him as he left.

*****

In Jason's next biology class at the end of the day, he was disappointed but not surprised that he ended up working alone for the first 45 minutes of class. He hadn't seen Percy at school all day, but he refused to waste gifted time waiting for him to magically appear. With fifteen minutes of class remaining, a familiar head of black hair entered the room and handed a slip to their teacher. She pointed in Jason's direction, and Percy took the seat next to him with a sigh.

"How generous of you to show up," Jason said, suddenly very annoyed.

"Shut the hell up, Grace," Percy bit out, "I meant to get here earlier. Swear."

Jason sighed, leaning over to pull a six-page packet out of his bag and setting it down in front of Percy. The boy stared at it quizzically, looking at Jason for an explanation.

"I reprinted the article for you," Jason said as he went back to typing away, "changed the font and all that. I also took out the stuff we don't need to know."

Percy didn't respond, but Jason caught his cautious inspection of the papers in his peripheral. His expression was unreadable.

"Thank you," Percy muttered eventually, beginning to actually read their article afterwards.

"This is my grade, too, after all," Jason tried to joke, but he still wasn't exactly sure what 'joking' entailed when it came to Percy. Something flashed in his green eyes, but it was too fast for Jason to tell what it was. From the little he saw, Jason would've said it was hurt—that didn't make much sense, though.

He couldn't hurt Percy Jackson if he tried.

*****

The next time that the two got to work on their project was Saturday afternoon. The lightest dusting of snow covered the ground, and Jason was definitely late to their scheduled time of one o'clock. His basketball practice had run longer than it was meant to, and he was just now making his drive back at a quarter past one. He texted Percy to warn him, but considering it seemed like Percy had only shown up on time somewhere once in his life, last Wednesday, Jason wasn't too concerned about inconveniencing him via schedule changes.

Hence, Jason was very surprised to see Percy Jackson sitting on the wooden railing lining Jason's front porch when he returned home from practice. Yet again, the boy was wearing a t-shirt and jeans that probably exposed more of his shins and knees than they covered. Jason sighed, lugging his bag over his shoulder and approaching the front door with his keys in hand.

"Are you an idiot?" He asked Percy as he passed by and opened the front door. "It's like six degrees!"

He didn't answer, just trailing Jason into the much warmer house. Percy followed Jason in shedding his shoes by the door, and the blond turned around to scan his biology partner's appearance. His cheeks were a light pink, matching the tips of his nose and ears. Jason would've ignored that if the boy's breathing hadn't been trembling as much as his hands. He sighed. Biology could wait a few minutes.

Percy tensed when Jason snatched his frozen hand and dragged him to the kitchen, pointing him towards the table as he grabbed the kettle off the stove.

"What are you doing?" Percy asked, his first words since Jason had arrived.

"Trying not to be responsible for your hypothermia," Jason told him exasperatedly. "You can't just sit outside in the freezing cold without sleeves and most of your pants, Percy! You're gonna get sick and die, and everyone will go to your funeral and wonder why you lacked common sense. Now, tea or hot chocolate?"

Percy took a moment to respond, and it was quiet when he actually did, "Hot chocolate."

Jason nodded, standing near the stove as he waited for the water to heat up. He took a glance at Percy, who was trying to rub his hands together subtly so Jason would stop lecturing him for letting himself freeze. He sighed and left Percy in the kitchen, ignoring the boy's confused expression.

Jason climbed the stairs to his room, sliding open his closet door and flicking through his sweatshirt options as he tried to choose the one that he thought Percy would hate the least. He settled on a black hoodie from last year's baseball season. The front had their school logo, and the back was plain except for the large 'GRACE' at the top. It had been way too warm for the spring, so perhaps it'd be great for the winter. He pulled it off the hanger, grabbing his backpack on the way out, and made his way back downstairs just in time for the kettle to start squealing. Jason tossed the hoodie at Percy as he poured two cups of hot chocolate. He turned to the green-eyed icicle, who was simply frowning at Jason with the sweatshirt in his hands.

"Put it on," Jason told him. The cold probably destroyed some of Percy's brain cells.

Percy was reluctant but followed orders, pulling the sweatshirt over his head and accepting the mug that Jason held out to him soon after.

"Don't burn yourself," Jason warned with a smile, taking the seat on Percy's left. He passed the time that his drink took to cool down by scrolling through his phone aimlessly.

"Thank you," Percy told him after several moments of silence.

Jason nodded. "Maybe try not to get yourself killed every time you come over here, yeah?"

The smallest hint of a smile settled on Percy's features. "I'll do my best."

"Did you ever get around to reading the article?" Jason asked. For the first time, he didn't feel malicious about it.

Percy's hands rested gently around the mug, still tinted red with cold. "Yeah, actually. It wasn't awful once I could read it without my head fucking pounding."

Jason felt proud of himself for that one. He could tell Percy was trying, so taking a few extra minutes to re-format and print out the paper was the least Jason could do. After all, he expected to be doing 100% of the project by himself, and now that Percy was carrying some of the load, Jason felt generous with his time. He was just glad it worked.

While Percy took a few moments to examine the wall of family photos that Jason's mother had adorned the wall with, Jason took the opportunity to examine Percy. His index finger tapped rhythmically against his mug, matching the tempo of his left foot under the table. Percy actually looked quite humorous in Jason's that hoodie, he decided. Although only an inch or two of height separated the two boys, Jason was clearly more built than Percy. He looked oddly small in Jason's clothes. It was...cute?

Jason looked away. He was not going to develop any kind of attraction to Percy Jackson. He and Percy were simply not meant to fit together. Jason was a tri-sport athlete, a star student. He had just finished his applications to the Ivies a few weeks ago. And Percy was Percy. He walked around wearing classic rock t-shirts and avoiding conversation like the plague. Jason wasn't sure he'd ever seen the boy outside of biology. He was just one puzzle that Jason shouldn't be willing to solve.

Still, when he saw Percy actually, genuinely smile for the first time at one of the dozens of photos on the wall, Jason couldn't help the weird feeling in his chest. His smile was close-lipped, slightly quirked to the right side of his face. Jason didn't realize how intense Percy's gaze was until he saw it soften as the smile reached his eyes. He patiently waited to speak again until Percy's harsh demeanor reappeared and he took a sip from his hot chocolate.

"You warm enough to work now?" Jason pulled out his laptop.

Percy gave a curt nod. He always worked on his phone for reasons unbeknownst to Jason. He didn't particularly want to ask.

They were oddly efficient that day, knocking out a good majority of the project before five when Jason's mother got home. She poked her head in the kitchen after she put some of her things away, tilting her head at the sight of Percy.

Jason gestured to his biology partner. "Mom, this is Percy. He's doing bio with me."

She raised her eyebrows with a face that was clearly just forced-down skepticism. Jason watched Percy's shoulders tense.

"Are you staying for dinner, Percy?" She asked as she grabbed a pan out of the cabinet.

"I should be going home," Percy politely declined. "Thank you, though."

She smiled at him, and Percy nodded his goodbye to Jason, returning Jason's hoodie before he disappeared from the Grace home. As soon as the echo of the door shutting died down across the house, Jason received a very confused look from his mother.

"Your project is going well, then?"

Jason sighed contently as the image of Percy's smile from earlier floated back into his mind. "It seems that way."

*****

"Do you get here on time," Jason glared at Percy as he sat down, "ever?"

"Shut it, Grace," he rolled his eyes but didn't actually seem affected by Jason's comment, "I walk a friend to class."

"And who would that be?" Jason was never going to get any closer to understanding Percy if he didn't start asking questions, he'd decided.

"Name's Grover," Percy had a notebook, surprisingly, with Jason's printed version of the article tucked on the inside cover. "He's got crutches because of something that I can't pronounce in his leg, but backpacks are 'fire hazards' or some shit."

Jason smiled a bit against his will. Percy Jackson had a soft side? "So you carry his books around?"

"Are we gonna work on this project or not?" Percy raised an eyebrow but didn't glare at Jason like he usually did.

"Yes, sorry, sorry," Jason apologized inauthentically.

They got very little done, as Jason spent most of the time they had asking pointless questions about Percy. Sometimes he'd answer, and sometimes he'd pretend Jason didn't exist. Jason liked asking the ones that Percy hated. Percy would bite the inside of his cheek, or desperately try to hide a blush by resting his chin in his hand and covering the side of his face that Jason could see, or staring at nothing with furrowed eyebrows when Jason made him think too much. He enjoyed watching Percy. Just as Jason was about to consider working on the project, the bell rang that told him it was time to head to lunch.

"Do you want to eat with me and my friends?" Jason asked as he piled up his belongings.

Percy shook his head. "I usually sit outside. It clears my head."

"You're wearing that outside, aren't you?" Jason frowned, observing Percy's short-sleeved button-down and black dress pants that completed his uniform. His tie hung loosely around his neck, the top two buttons of his shirt undone.

Percy didn't answer, which meant yes. Jason sighed and thought for a moment before reluctantly pulling his hoodie over his head.

"What the hell are you doing?" Percy suddenly seemed very frantic, taking Jason a bit by surprise.

Jason frowned at him, holding out the grey sweatshirt. It was similar to the one he lent Percy the other day, only this time with a basketball-centered logo on the front. "Please just make me feel better and put it on."

Percy sighed, making sure to glare at Jason as he smoothed the hoodie down. He raised his eyebrows, and Jason smiled before the two of them left the room and parted ways.

"Jason Grace," Leo appeared next to his locker with Piper after school, a smile stretched across his face. "Are you serious?"

He gestured for him to continue.

"Did we really see Percy Jackson wearing your hoodie?" Piper said the boy's name like it was poison.

"He never wears a jacket," Jason told her frustratedly. "I gave him that so he didn't freeze to death."

"So you're not dating your lab partner?" Leo grinned at him teasingly.

Jason sighed. "No, of course not. We're just...friends. I think we're friends."

Piper admitted, "You two don't make a lot of sense together."

"I think you just don't know him," Jason was surprised to find himself defending Percy. Maybe he'd been enjoying his time with Percy more than he'd expected.

A brief pause.

"So you want to be dating your lab partner?" Leo assumed with a playful tone.

"Shut up," Jason sighed, pretending that he didn't feel the blood rushing towards his face. "Let's just say he's much better than I thought he'd be."

He really didn't like what he saw when his eyes shifted to Piper. Her face screamed mischief. "I'm officially your wingwoman."

"Please don't talk to him."

Piper feigned offense. "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. Matchmaker Piper is coming to the rescue, dear friend."

Leo gave her a whoop, and Jason just sighed.

Why did he ever befriend these two?

*****

Jason and Percy didn't get anymore time to work on their project in class, but they spent an unusual amount of time together outside of the classroom, talking by Jason's locker and walking out together before parting ways for the day. Percy had worn Jason's hoodie a couple of times, and Jason was proud of himself for being a good influence. It was the following Tuesday when he was finally forced to speak with Percy about biology again. By then, he decided that he rather liked seeing Percy outside of that context.

"Grace," Percy leaned against the locker next to Jason's when he approached, "you free to work tonight?"

Jason shook his head. "I have a game at seven. You'd know if you listened to the announcements."

Percy merely rolled his eyes, so Jason continued, "You should come. You have been advertising the team all week with that sweatshirt."

For the first time, Jason thought Percy might've been a bit flustered. Percy pointed at the hoodie on himself, "You...you can have it back now, if you want."

Jason shrugged. For some reason, he liked seeing his last name plastered across Percy's back. He got an odd feeling whenever he'd pass Percy in the halls wearing it. "Hold onto it."

Percy offered one of his rare, small smiles, and Jason felt something in his stomach flutter. "I'm free Friday night."

"Of course you are," Percy joked, patting Jason once on the back after he pushed himself off the locker and began walking away. "See you around."

Jason waved, suddenly very aware of the smile that was on his face for most of that conversation. He was only a little shocked that Percy didn't comment on it. Maybe Jason always looked like that when he talked to Percy, the thought crossed his mind. He sighed.

So much for not falling for Percy Jackson.

*****

"Are you sure he's not your boyfriend?" Piper asked from the front row of bleachers when Jason had a moment of free time before his game.

His eyebrows scrunched together as a basketball rolled over to his feet. He tossed it to his closest teammate and looked back to Piper. "Percy? I'm sure."

"The fact that you knew who I was talking about says a lot," Piper nodded towards the top corner of the student section. "He's at your basketball game wearing your hoodie with your last name on it, and he clearly doesn't want to be here, which means he's just doing it for you."

Jason glanced up to see a hooded Percy sitting next to a boy with curly hair and a set of crutches at his side. He assumed this was the Grover that Percy walked to class. He caught Percy's gaze and smiled, throwing up a wave. Percy's hand lifted out of his pocket ever so slightly in return—it was the best Jason was going to get. He turned back to Piper and frowned when she started laughing.

"What?" Jason sighed at her.

"You're smiling over a half-assed wave," Piper pointed out, "At least acknowledge that you like him."

Thankfully, the head referee blew his whistle before Jason had to answer, and he jogged away from his friend despite her protests. He still managed to drown out his surroundings, even though he knew that Percy was sitting in the stands or the fact that Piper actually went and sat next to him. No, his mind was focused on sinking shots and trying not to break his ankles while he tried to get around the jerk defending him. The team walked away with a narrow win, and Jason was admittedly a bit disgusting when he approached Percy after changing in the locker room. Piper knew some of the cheerleaders—she knew most of the school, honestly—and was talking to them, so meeting up with Percy and Grover seemed like the more reasonable option.

"I hate basketball," Percy told Jason as soon as he was within range.

Grover nudged him with a disapproving glance, but Jason just smiled. That was his Percy. Grover congratulated him on a job well-done, unlike his friend, before claiming that he had to take his leave because his ride had arrived.

Surprisingly, Percy frowned. "I thought I was driving you."

"Annabeth is," Grover looked at Percy like he was crazy, "remember?"

Percy glared, but Grover was less than phased, grinning at his friend and patting his shoulder before disappearing out of the gymnasium.

"Sorry about him," Percy muttered as he crossed his arms over his chest. He seemed suddenly nervous, for some reason. Jason normally would've attributed it to a loss of Grover, but that wasn't exactly the first time he and Percy had been alone together.

Jason played along, shrugging. "I think he cared more about the game than you did."

"I used to play," Percy said as if it were a challenge, also implying that he did not, in fact, hate basketball.

"Is that so?" Jason readily accepted. "I have a court near my house. You going anywhere tonight?"

"Apparently I'm going to some basketball court with this weird blond kid."

*****

"I expected you to suck more, frankly," Jason said with a laugh as Percy made another free throw.

Percy shrugged, turning to him with an uncharacteristically joyful grin. "I could've gone pro, I think."

He missed the next shot, and Jason laughed again, applauding the boy with a whoop.

"Fuck off," Percy's glare lacked its typical viciousness, a hint of laughter even poking through his words.

They were still out at ten thirty when Jason called it quits with a claim that they had class the next day and that it was freezing. It had started flurrying about ten minutes prior. Percy reluctantly agreed, throwing in a comment about the warmth from Jason's hoodie. He waited as Jason packed up his small collection of things and shouldered the bag containing all of them.

Jason had a million things to say. He could've asked about their project, made a comment about the game, joked about Percy's basketball skill. He really considered telling Percy how nice he looked when he smiled, or how the snowflakes contrasted perfectly with his dark, now windswept, hair. He managed a quiet, "Thanks for coming tonight."

Percy's lip quirked upwards. There was that smile again. He held Jason's gaze longer than he normally did. "Thanks for the invite."

Neither of them moved for a moment, then Percy took a step closer.

"We should...we should hang out again," Percy said softly, "actually do something together besides the project."

Jason nodded in agreement. "I'd like that."

Silence again.

"Do you like the movies?" Jason asked.

Percy's shrug was subtle. "Depends who I'm going with."

"Just me."

"I love the movies," Percy changed his response, making Jason smile.

Another moment. Clearly neither of them wanted to leave.

"So...," Jason cleared his throat, "biology, huh?"

"Shut the fuck up, Jason," Percy laughed, actually this time, before placing two warm hands on both of Jason's cheeks and pressing their lips together.

Jason couldn't help but smile into the kiss, his arms moving to rest on Percy's shoulder and intertwine behind his neck. Percy had been right about Jason's hoodie—he was a stark source of heat in the freezing cold. His hands felt like fire on Jason's face.

There was a brief separation to catch some air during which Jason noted, "You called me Jason."

"That's your name, isn't it?" Percy responded in a tone that was just so him. Jason grinned stupidly and gently pulled Percy back towards him for another kiss.

The time and the temperature hardly mattered to Jason anymore. Kissing Percy took care of both—stopping the clock and sending a wave of warmth through his entire body. He supposed this is what it felt like when people say they felt sparks...

Percy was the one to break their kiss with a sort of finality behind his actions. He left his hands on Jason's cheeks, leaning back to examine his face.

"Grover set you up, huh?" Jason asked softly.

"He told me during the game he was somehow gonna force me into a date," Percy rolled his eyes for the umpteenth time at his friend.

Jason's head tilted slightly to the left. "So you told your friends about me?"

"Of course," Percy smiled wickedly, "told them about my smartass—"

Jason pressed a kiss to his forehead.

"—uptight—"

To his cheek.

"—boring—"

To the tip of his nose.

"—dear gods, Grace," Percy stopped him before he could finish his series, strengthening his hold on Jason's face. "Didn't realize you were so touchy."

"What else did you tell them about me?" Jason ignored him, wondering how much he could convince Percy to say.

"I'd have to think about it," Percy glanced upwards thoughtfully, a sarcastic glint in his tone as he finally removed his hands from Jason's cheeks, "maybe how you care too much about people who don't like you. How you print them papers with special fonts or force them to drink your hot chocolate after they freeze outside your house. I could have told them how much I like the color of your eyes, and that I may or may not stare at your arms sometimes."

Jason playfully flexed his bicep. "You stare at my arms?"

"I think everybody stares at your arms," Percy deadpanned.

Jason's laugh made Percy smile.

"And perhaps I mentioned that I liked you," Percy concluded with a shrug, "just a bit."

Jason hummed in agreement. "My friends already think we're dating because of the whole sweatshirt thing, so clearly I've smiled in your direction one too many times."

"So these movies we mentioned earlier?" Percy moved on.

Jason nodded. "What about them?"

"They're a date now, yeah?"

With a scoff, Jason gave another nod. "They always were."

Percy raised his hands defensively. "Just making sure everybody was on the same page."

They spent a quick minute planning out their date before Jason actually had to leave. They reaffirmed their work time together on Friday—they still had a project to finish despite this new development, unfortunately—and then parted ways with a quick goodbye kiss.

Jason was never going to hear the end of this, but he supposed he could look past his annoying friends. After all, he walked away with a boyfriend and an A on their project by the end of it all, so he couldn't really complain.
