Never Say No to Piper McLean (Jercy)

"Piper, I already told you no."

"Please," Piper pleaded with her friend, "I think you'll have fun! Annabeth really wants you to meet her friend."

"Have you even met Annabeth's friend?" Jason raised his eyebrows at her.

She smiled sheepishly. "No, but that's just another reason for us to both go! I love Annabeth's friends!"

Piper had spent the last ten minutes trying to convince Jason to come on a double date with her girlfriend, Annabeth, and one of her friends. Jason wasn't sure why they couldn't just go on their own date—they'd been together for over a year. Piper told him it'd be more fun with all four of them, but considering Jason would be on a date with a total stranger, he didn't exactly feel the same way.

"Why can't you bring somebody else?" Jason tried to make someone else suffer, although he wasn't sure who else Piper could ask. Practically all of their other friends were already in relationships.

"Because we both agreed to bring our best friends," Piper explained, sitting down in front of him and taking his hands in her own, "don't you want to be my best friend?"

Jason smiled and looked her dead in the eyes. "You're the worst, and my answer is no."

"Okay, fine," Piper rolled her eyes, "Annabeth's trying to set you up. She really thinks you two will like each other. You trust her, don't you?"

Jason shrugged honestly. He'd only personally met one of Annabeth's friends, Clarisse La Rue, and she was rather frightening. Sure, Annabeth was lovely (although certainly a bit frightening herself), but Jason was reluctant to trust her collection of friends.

"Come on, Jase," Piper just kept on going, "You're the only single one left in the group. Obviously, you don't have to date anyone, but I just think it'd be good if you could at least meet somebody, you know?"

Jason sighed, staring at the wall for a few moments. It would only be for a couple of hours, right? He knew Piper would never leave him alone about it, so he might as well suffer through one date instead of listening to Piper complain for the next month.

"Fine."

Piper's face lit up, and she instantly wrapped her arms around her friend, thanking him over and over. Jason just nodded, patting her back to acknowledge her gratitude.

"I'll go let Annabeth know," Piper said at a superhuman speed, "This'll make her day, Jase. Love you, bye!"

*****

And that is how Jason Grace found himself sitting at a half-empty booth on Friday night. Piper was nearly bouncing off the walls with excitement right next to him, and she assured him every thirty seconds or so that Annabeth and her friend would be there soon. They were supposed to get dinner and then go mini-golfing, but Jason already knew that would be a disaster. The two girls were much more competitive than they needed to be. If he was really lucky, he might even get to de-escalate a fight between Piper and Annabeth.

Hooray.

Eventually, Piper's eyes skimmed over a text she received, and she grinned. "They're here!"

He caught sight of Annabeth's familiar blonde curls and watched a boy with dark hair file in after her. Piper waved them over and made sure to ramble to Jason about how excited she was until they arrived at the table. Annabeth's friend let her slide into the booth first before following suit.

"Hello, friends of mine," Annabeth greeted them as she situated herself, "Piper and Jason, this is Percy. Percy, Piper and Jason."

"So you're the Percy I've heard so much about,"  Piper offered her hand, beaming when Percy reached out to shake it.

"That's usually not something I like to hear from Annabeth's friends," Percy gave her a small, crooked smile, but Jason noticed that his eyes didn't hold quite the same confidence as his voice did.

"Let's just say I'm not so sure I would've brought my dear, sweet Jason if I'd known it was you," Piper joked with him.

Annabeth scoffed. "Why do you think it was a surprise?"

Jason was concerned. He never should have trusted a scheme set up by Piper and Annabeth, especially one that involved Jason's love life. Everything about this boy screamed trouble, and Jason really wondered why Annabeth was so sure Jason would like him. Still, he was polite and shook Percy's hand when he'd wrapped up his greeting to Piper.

Annabeth, to nobody's surprise, initiated the conversation with ease. Based on his introduction, Jason expected Percy to be...more. He was anticipating someone cocky, talkative, flirtatious—like his dear friend Leo Valdez but more likely to commit a crime. At least with Leo, he knew it was mostly a joke.

Percy, however, was quite the opposite. Rather, he seemed incredibly genuine, and he frequently went out of his way to engage Jason in their conversations when he found himself practically buried under the energy of the two very extroverted women. And by the time he saw what looked like the Percy's first real smile of the night when Jason finally started getting comfortable and made some stupid joke, he was starting to understand why Annabeth thought he'd like Percy.

Unfortunately, Jason had no idea how he was supposed to show any interest. He finally remembered why he was still single.

"So," Jason regretted speaking as soon as piercing green eyes looked towards him, "you do go to the same school as the three of us, right?"

Percy nodded, silently encouraging him to continue.

"What're you majoring in?" Jason asked, taking a sip of his drink and almost spilling it when Annabeth gasped from the opposite corner of the table.

"Oh, Jason," she grinned at him, "I'm so glad you asked."

"Here we go," Percy said, waving off Jason's apologetic look that followed.

Annabeth placed a hand on Percy's shoulder. "Go ahead, Seaweed Brain, tell them what you're studying."

Percy gave his friend a bored glare. "I'm a business major."

"And he hates it," Annabeth filled in the other two.

"I've changed my major three times already," Piper told him, "so I'm sure they'd love to see me in there again if you want me to help."

"Do you know what you want to do?" Jason asked, ignoring Piper's chronic indecisiveness.

Percy looked hesitant to answer, but Annabeth just nodded at him. He sighed. "Journalism, ideally. My, uh, my mom's a writer. Stepdad's an English teacher. I guess it's a family thing."

Jason was confused. "Why not switch then?"

"Because I'll fail," Percy stated promptly before realizing he should probably explain, "I'm...very dyslexic. Reading and writing are not exactly my strong suit."

"I'll proofread for you until I die," Annabeth told him, and despite Percy's scoff, Jason felt like she might be serious. Although, for some reason, he was fairly certain Annabeth also had dyslexia...

Percy clearly wanted to talk about something besides himself. "I'll think about it. What about you, Jason?"

"I'm a philosophy major," Jason answered, "pre-law."

Piper gave an overdramatic yawn from her seat, earning a disapproving look from her girlfriend.

Thankfully, they moved on after that, sparing Percy from any more awkward conversations about his education. Jason felt ever so slightly guilty, but how was he supposed to know? And Percy seemed fine, as he quickly returned to making fun of Annabeth with Piper and glaring at the blonde every time she stole one of his fries (which was often).

They wrapped up dinner around six, and despite Percy's protests, Annabeth ended up paying the whole bill. She claimed that it was only fair since she'd dragged all four of them together. Annabeth informed them that Percy would be driving everybody to their second activity. The blonde was a notoriously bad driver herself, so Jason was more than relieved that somebody else would be behind the wheel.

Annabeth and Piper tried to play rock-paper-scissors for shotgun, but Percy just laughed at them before sending them both to sit in the back of his Prius together. He plugged his aux cord into his phone and apologized when the music practically shook the car.

"Forgot to turn that down," he said sheepishly, giving the knob a frantic twist.

Percy's music was an interesting mix of 2000s alternative, classic rock, and the occasional song that was very clearly only there for Annabeth's sake. She got particularly excited when any of those came on, and Jason couldn't help but smile. It was sweet of him to add them for her.

"Percy," Piper shouted excitedly from the back seat, "I've just been informed that you know how to surf."

"Hardly," Percy shrugged, glancing over his shoulder for oncoming cars before switching lanes, "I only ever get to do it a few times over the summer. I'm average at best."

Jason vaguely heard Annabeth's, "What a filthy liar," but he elected to ignore it.

Piper continued, "So hypothetically, could you help teach me? I would prefer to not embarrass myself this summer."

"Where are you going?" Percy asked, glaring at the driver that cut him off right beforehand.

"California," Piper said, "because my father is desperate to show his love through gifts and vacations. I'm dragging Jason here to the coast with me, so maybe you can teach him how to surf and swim."

"I know how to swim," Jason defended himself.

Piper scoffed. "Not well. I seem to remember freshman year of high school when you almost drow—"

"Percy definitely knows how to swim, if you do happen to need some assistance," Annabeth interrupted, nodding when she saw Jason's grateful look to her.

"Annie, please," Percy sighed, seemingly knowing where Annabeth was taking this conversation.

"It's not like he's a three-time state champion or anything," she casually threw out the piece of information.

Percy sank into his seat slightly, clearly not a fan of the attention. Jason could hear the two girls continue the discussion in the back, so he decided to change the direction of his talk with Percy up front.

"Do you still swim?" Jason asked hesitantly, a bit surprised when Percy shook his head.

"I was supposed to," he explained, "It was pretty much the whole reason I got accepted into school, but I fucked up my shoulder pretty bad. They took my scholarship but not my admittance, so I guess you could say it worked out...sort of."

Jason frowned. "I'm sorry."

Percy just gave him a shrug. "It's for the best, I think. Even the off-season was exhausting, and since I was busy pretty much all of the time, Annie is still my only actual friend here."

Percy explained how his schedule worked before he hurt himself, and Jason could definitely see why he wasn't too torn up about quitting. Against his better judgement, Jason asked what Percy had done to hurt himself. Apparently, he'd dislocated his shoulder at his senior year state competition and never got it properly fixed, which probably would've been enough to end his career in the long run. However, it was actually two tears in his left rotator cuff that did him in.

Considering how little Percy talked about himself during dinner, getting to finally hear about his life (even if he was only hearing about his gruesome shoulder injuries) was a nice surprise. Figuring he should take advantage of the opportunity while he still could, he asked about Percy's family. The boy's face lit up when they were mentioned, and he wasted no time in telling Jason about how great his mother and step-father were. Jason just smiled at him while he rambled about his mother's kindness and her...blue food? Jason could ask about that again at another time.

Soon, Percy parked the car and rolled his eyes when the two girls practically fell out of the door. Much more peacefully, the two boys followed suit and began their stroll to the entrance. Percy looked over at Jason, suddenly seeming nervous again.

"You don't have to do this, if you don't want to," Percy told him, "I can drive you back to campus."

Jason frowned. "And why wouldn't I want to?"

"Uh," Percy responded intelligently, clearly not expecting to answer a question, "it's just that Annabeth said you weren't really...the most excited about tonight."

"I just hate first dates," Jason smiled at him, "and also Piper, most of the time."

Percy nodded, although it looked like he barely even heard the blond. "I still want you here, obviously, but I'd get it if you don't feel—"

Silently, Jason stopped walking and held out his hand for Percy. Eyes wide, the boy's eyes flickered between his hand and his face before a comfortable smile overtook his features. He took Jason's hand and continued walking, gently squeezing it as a thank you.

"Now we just have to find our two—"

Percy got cut off when his date nearly got smacked in the head with a golf club, and Percy had to let go of the boy just to grab the weapon and defend him. The guilty party and her blonde partner in crime appeared in front of them, earning themselves glares from Percy as he took a second club from them and handed it to Jason.

"Sorry, Jase," Piper grinned at him. "Anyways, we were thinking a fun little competition of boys versus girls would be good."

There was a collection of quiet agreements before Piper swung her club (nearly taking out her own girlfriend this time) and guided them to the first hole excitedly.

"I'm the worst at this," Jason warned the other boy.

Percy, however, just smiled reassuringly at him. "You can't be worse than Annabeth."

And it turned out Percy was correct. They were five holes in, and Annabeth was clearly the worst golfer. It probably wasn't helping that she and Piper burst into laughter every time there was a particularly bad shot.

Surprisingly, Annabeth gained a sudden increase in skill on the sixth hole, only taking two strokes and obnoxiously celebrating with Piper at the other side of the fake grass. Even with the blonde's horrible record, they were still somehow very close to the boys' score.

"Come on, golden boy," Piper teased him, wrapping an arm around Annabeth's shoulders.

Annabeth, apparently, was getting very comfortable with the group of four. "Maybe Perce will consider kissing on the first date if you make this."

Jason gave his aforementioned date a sideways glance. Percy's sigh seemed agitated, but the blush tinting his cheeks made Jason smile, mostly against his will since he knew the two girls were watching for their reactions like hawks.

Somehow, Jason did manage to sink the ball on his next stroke, earning boo's from the girls and quiet applause from his date. He joined them at the end and frowned when they both smiled at him curiously.

"So," Piper wasted no time since Percy would be joining them shortly, "do you like him or what?"

"He's sweet," Jason told her, only meeting an eye roll in response.

"So that's a no, then?" Piper assumed.

Jason furrowed his eyebrows at her. "No, it's not. What else do you want me to say? He's nice, and he's funny."

"And he's hot," Annabeth added, laughing at Jason's confused expression.

Piper side-eyed her girlfriend for wasting her precious gossip time with Jason. Annabeth ignored her and simply murmured, "What? I'm gay, not blind."

Jason was about to re-evaluate the friendship between his date and his best friend's girlfriend, but Piper regained his attention by snapping her fingers twice. "Would you or would you not accept a second date?"

"Not with you two," Jason muttered, "but yes, I would. Are you happy now?"

Piper grinned at him. "Very much so."

They finished just in time, apparently, because Percy joined them right after they finished their conversation. Annabeth asked how many strokes he took, and she glared when he jokingly tried to tell her one. Sighing, he held up three fingers. With a cocky smile, Annabeth spent the next five minutes telling Percy about how she was a better mini-golfer than him as if he hadn't been crushing her the entire game.

They slowly made their way through the rest of the course, and eventually, the girls lost by two points. As an individual, Piper absolutely annihilated the other three, but Annabeth's lack of skill finally caught up with them.

"I should've traded you for Percy," Piper joked with her, pretty much sprinting back to the car to avoid Annabeth's wrath as she chased after her.

Percy, who had both of the girls' clubs shoved into his arms before they took off, smiled after them. "Piper's interesting."

"Yeah," Jason scoffed, "I'm surprised you didn't meet her before today."

Percy shrugged, taking a brief break to turn in their clubs and thank the worker. "Never had a reason to. We both knew I'd just end up third-wheeling, so I guess we just never bothered."

"I think that's smart, actually," Jason said, "I third-wheel with most of my friends now anyways, though."

"That's fair," Percy laughed, "but you haven't been single for that long, right?"

Jason smiled sheepishly. "I haven't been in a relationship since sophomore year."

"You're kidding," Percy seemed surprised, but Jason just shook his head. Sure, he went on a date every once in a while. They never developed into anything more than that, though.

He knew it was perfectly acceptable to not do much dating in high school, but he still couldn't help feeling a bit awkward every time someone mentioned it.

"Well, somebody had to try, surely," Percy grinned at him.

Jason paused to think before nodding with a sigh. "Drew Tanaka tried very hard, unfortunately."

Percy chuckled quietly, muttering something that sounded suspiciously like, "Can't say I blame her."

Jason made a poor attempt to hide his blush, but Percy didn't even seem to notice as they arrived back at the car. He was too busy shooing the two girls off his roof and climbing into the driver's seat.

"I'm dropping you two off first," Percy announced to the girls in the back as he pulled his seatbelt across his body. They lived off-campus together in an apartment with two other girls from Jason's school, Hazel and Reyna, so it made sense to drive them home sooner.

"Why're you so eager to get rid of us?" Annabeth gave him a teasing grin.

He turned around to face her with a similar smile on his own face. "Because I don't like you."

Her smile disappeared, and she flipped him off, earning herself a victorious laugh from Percy as he put the car in reverse and safely got back onto the road. As promised, he returned the two girls to their apartment and bid them farewell when they climbed out of his car. Annabeth gently knocked on Percy's window, leaning in to whisper something to the boy once he rolled it down. With what sounded like a sigh of relief, he smiled at her with a quiet thank you.

She nodded, pushing his hair aside to kiss his forehead. "Goodnight, Perce."

"Night, Wise Girl," Percy responded quietly, waving to her as she followed Piper into the building.

Jason followed Percy's gaze, making sure their friends got inside safely. His green eyes stayed fixated on the front door of their building until his phone dinged in the cup holder. Percy grabbed it, and Jason barely caught Annabeth's name as the sender before he set the device back down.

"Any chance you're up for something else tonight?" Percy asked, a kind smile on his face.

Oh, dear, Jason thought to himself. He didn't like where this was heading. He was never a hook-up kind of guy, and he didn't particularly plan on changing that, even if he had enjoyed his time with Percy.

"I, uh, don't usually...do that kind of thing," he tried to let Percy down easy, mentally preparing himself for the awkward aftermath of the rejection.

Percy stared at him in confusion for a few moments before realization dawned on his features and a blush spread across his face. "Oh, no, no. Not what I meant—not that I wouldn't—gods, that's also not what I meant. I just meant that, theoretically—I'm gonna shut up."

Percy face-planted into the top of his steering wheel, smiling a bit at Jason's subsequent laughter. "My plans entailed, like, ice cream or something—I don't know. I can just take you home. I'm very sorry."

"No, I'm intrigued," Jason shook his head, "and I do love ice cream."

Percy picked up his head, turning to Jason. "Would free ice cream help you make up your mind?"

Jason pretended to be lost in thought about the proposition, giving his chin a nice rub for dramatic effect. "Ah, you've sold me."

Percy laughed before finally pulling out of his spot in the lot outside Piper and Annabeth's apartment. The boy seemed much more relaxed now that it was just him and Jason. The blond supposed that made sense, since he was the only person meeting two people tonight. The other three had already known each other for months, at least, but Percy was making a first impression on both of them. He got introduced to his best friend's long-term partner and had a date of his own at the same time.

The line was short when they arrived at the quaint ice cream shop, and after they got their orders, Percy popped the trunk of his car and pulled the back seats down for lounging. It was surprisingly clean with only jumper cables lying about, which Percy just shoved in the corner behind him and pretended they were never there. The car definitely was not built for the height of two full-grown college boys, but they still had many laughs watching each other climb in and try not to hit their heads on the roof. Percy sacrificed himself by climbing in first since he was a bit smaller than Jason.

Once both them and their desserts were situated, Jason glanced at Percy and stifled a laugh. "Okay," he started, "you mentioned the blue food thing earlier. I feel like I have to ask for more."

Percy glanced at his blue ice cream fondly before grinning at Jason. "My mom and her ex-husband—an asshole, by the way—got in this fight about whether or not blue food existed. She liked to inconvenience him when she got the chance, so my mom started making everything blue."

"Everything?" Jason asked, unable to wipe the smile off his face.

"Don't underestimate my mother," Percy warned him, honestly only half-joking. "Now, it's just kind of our thing."

Their ice cream slowly disappeared as they talked. Percy was going even slower than Jason, but the blond couldn't tell if it was because he was trying to prolong their time together or if he just kept getting distracted. Neither option would have surprised him.

At one point, Percy asked about the scar on Jason's bottom lip—how he even saw it, Jason wasn't sure—and Jason had to embarrassingly tell him the stapler story.

"You tried to eat it?" Percy laughed.

Jason really couldn't help but smile. The boy's joy was infectious. He nodded to confirm. "My sister was not amused."

"I'm sure she appreciates the story now," Percy said, receiving a small agreement from Jason. "How old is she?"

Jason was only slightly ashamed when he forgot her age and had to do the math off the top of his head. "Twenty-four. Do you have siblings?"

"It's complicated," Percy sighed. Clearly, this was another question he was dreading. However, his face lit up when he actually answered the question, "My mom's pregnant with my sister right now, actually! She's due in, like, two weeks, so I'm looking forward to that."

Jason smiled. This boy adored his family.

"And then my dad's side is hot mess," Percy looked much less enthusiastic about the other half of his family. "Not to shame or anything, but my father does have three sons with three different mothers. I'm the middle child on that half, but I don't really talk to anyone except my younger brother. His name's Tyson. Older one's Triton."

"No T-name for you?" Jason asked, only slightly fazed by the life choices of Percy's father. His own was hardly any better.

"My mom named me," he explained, "but don't worry, my father says he wanted to name me Troy."

"Oh, gods," Jason laughed. Percy could never be a Troy.

Percy decided to change the subject before they could delve any deeper into literally any other information about his father. It wouldn't be long until they got to the fact that he didn't get to help name Percy because he wasn't even at his birth, or that he was married to Triton's mother when both of his other sons were born. Those seemed like topics for a later date.

Instead, he got Jason talking about his roommate, Leo Valdez. Jason assured Percy that the boy was a genius, but based on the rest of his description, Percy just thought he was crazy. And maybe an arsonist.

Even when Percy finally finished his ice cream, he made no move to leave, and Jason had no complaints. It wasn't until Percy got a text and glanced down at his phone and saw that it was almost midnight that he reluctantly decided they might want to wrap things up for the night.

Percy let Jason have the aux on the way home, surprisingly. Jason could tell that his date was a music guy and usually didn't grant such an honor—it was probably why Annabeth's songs were on his playlist, after all. The ride was also much less anxiety-producing than his other ones this year. He and Leo hadn't brought cars to school, so the only people that had driven him around that year were Annabeth and Piper. Neither were ideal choices.

Jason watched as Percy's fingers twitched on the center armrest and hesitantly laid his own hand on top. He glanced at Percy for reassurance and was met with a small but warm smile before Percy went ahead and moved to intertwine their fingers.

Jason was actually somewhat disappointed when they got back to campus. Percy, unsurprisingly, had the worst parking spot possible, so they had a decent walk to either of their dorms. They'd talked about living on basically opposite sides of campus, so Jason prepared himself to let Percy leave and walk back on his own.

He opened his mouth to say goodbye, but Percy apparently read his mind and shook his head. "I'm walking you back, obviously."

"You don't have to if you don't want to," Jason reassured.

Percy shrugged. "Maybe I do want to."

Jason couldn't say much else to that, so he just decided to be fine with it. He'd get to spend more time with Percy, anyways. He couldn't really complain about that.

When they got outside Jason's dorm room, it only felt right to invite Percy in for a moment since he walked all the way over. Leo wasn't inside—probably getting dinner (yes, at midnight) or something for one of his projects that were strewn about the room. Percy scanned the area, smiling at Jason's little bulletin board with his calendar and pictures of his friends.

"Sorry that it's, uh," Jason kicked a screwdriver under Leo's bed, "a mess."

Percy shook his head. "I will be honest, mine's not any better."

"Fantastic," Jason said with playful sarcasm, "now I have to deal with Leo and you."

With a soft laugh, Percy turned to Jason. "I really enjoyed tonight."

Jason nodded in agreement, so Percy took that as his cue to continue, "I'd definitely be interested in doing it again as long as you are."

"Of course I am," Jason smiled at him. "Tonight was the most fun I've had in a while."

"Glad...glad to hear that," Percy said, the corners of his own lips curving up slightly.

There was a moment of silence as neither of them really wanted to be the one to end their time together. Jason opened his mouth to awkwardly say goodbye, but he had a better idea before he could do so.

"You know," Jason started, "I did get that ball in earlier tonight."

Percy looked confused for a moment before his eyes widened ever so slightly. He looked flustered for about two seconds before regaining his composure. "You should know better than to trust Annabeth in the future."

"Fine, in the future," Jason rolled his eyes, "but what about now?"

Percy just shrugged with fake indecisiveness, so Jason stepped towards him. "All I'm saying is that I definitely won the game with that shot."

Percy raised his eyebrows but quickly decided he couldn't play this game much longer as his straight lips turned into a smile. "You're an idiot."

"That's fine," Jason said, finally wrapping an arm around Percy's neck and softly connecting their lips.

The kiss lasted only a few seconds before Percy pulled away. "Hey, I'm pretty sure I was supposed to kiss you."

"You took too long," Jason raised his eyebrows challengingly, "maybe next time."

"Or maybe not," Percy glared jokingly and leaned in to kiss him again, pulling the boy closer.

Jason could feel Percy's smile against his lips and couldn't help but return one of his own when he saw the boy's grin. He let go of Percy reluctantly and finally decided it was time to let him go back to his own dorm.

"Don't worry, there definitely will still be a next time," Percy reassured playfully, his eyes quickly flickering to Jason's lips and back to his eyes, "especially since I found out that you are a, uh, a great kisser."

"Stop that," Jason complained, feeling the heat of the blood rushing to his cheeks.

Percy grinned at him, seemingly knowing he'd get that response. "I'll text you, yeah?"

Wordlessly, Jason nodded and gave Percy a kind wave as he smiled and moved to leave Jason's room. He opened to door to find a short Latino boy with curly hair and gave him a polite nod.

"Leo Valdez," he acknowledged, looking back at Jason for confirmation and receiving a nod. Percy bid them both goodbye before walking down the hall towards the stairs.

Leo glanced in Percy's direction for a moment, watching him leave with furrowed brows. He looked back at Jason. "He was your date?"

Jason nodded, a smile stuck on his face. "Yeah. Why are you shocked?"

"Well, first of all," Leo finally came in and closed the door behind him, "he's mega hot. And scary. Also, though, he doesn't look like your usual type."

"He's not," Jason admitted, ignoring the comments about Percy's looks, "but I...really liked spending time with him."

"Yeah, and apparently talking about me," Leo grinned. "Glad to know you love me so much that I'm first date material, Jase."

Jason rolled his eyes. "Whatever."

"So what's the update? Second date?" Leo looked him up and down once before he continued, "Did he kiss you?"

"Well, it might've been the other way around," Jason admitted sheepishly.

"You didn't," Leo's mouth was agape for approximately half a second before he started laughing. "What have you done with Jason Grace?"

"Shut it, Leo. It was just a kiss," Jason said, muttering to himself afterwards for his own amusement, "or two."

Then, Jason wordlessly turned his phone on and hit a few buttons before holding it up to his ear, earning a quizzical look from his friend.

"Who in the world are you calling?" Leo asked, fully prepared to stop Jason if his answer was his date.

"Piper," Jason didn't miss a beat.

"Why?"

"To thank her."
