Chapter 42
Omkara~
It was a pleasant Saturday morning and My mom called me yesterday asking me to join them for lunch today along with Gauri. That's why I was standing in front of my parents house along with my assistant.
"Are you sure, Lillies are your Mom's favourite flowers?" Gauri asked for the nth time holding the bouquet of Lillies in her hand while walking beside me.
"I already told you, it's her favourite." I said knocking the door, "There was no need for you to buy them."
"I have to bring something." My assistant said stubborn.
"Hello Omkara." My mom greeted as she opened the door, giving me a short hug.
"Gauri, How are you dear." My mom said pulling Gauri into a tight hug.
"I am fine, Jhanvi ji." Gauri said smiling.
"I am so happy, you came." My Mom said smiling brightly, "Come inside, I will show you around." She said pulling Gauri along with her leaving me alone.
"Get inside, Omkara." My Dad said coming towards me, "This is what happens when Mom's like your Girlfriend, they don't care us. My mo did the same too." My dad said guiding me inside the home.
"Gauri isn't my Girlfriend." I said sitting in the sofa in front of my Dad.
"But I can see that love for her in your eyes." My dad said giving me a wink. "So, tell me when you are going to tell her about your feelings?"
"I don't know, Dad." I said honestly, "I am afraid about her reaction, she thinks me as her friend and I didn't let her know that I have feelings for her."
"Son, you have to learn to acknowledge and express your feelings. She's a good girl, your Mom and I likes her, even Rudra gave his vote for her. Now it's up to you to ask her out. Take quick steps before you loose her." My dad said patting on my shoulder and walking towards the kitchen.
I followed my Dad towards the kitchen and saw my mom and Gauri cooking food together speaking about random things and gossips.
"I can already see the future." My dad smiled walking inside the kitchen as I began to look at Gauri speaking merrily with my parents leaning against the door frame of the kitchen.
"Wow! Gauri beta, this soup tasted exactly like my Mom's recipe, This soup and Gajar Halwa are my favourite." My dad said drinking a spoonful of soup that Gauri made.
"Thank you," Gauri said smiling. "I can make Gajar Halwa now, if you want." She said.
"Oh, don't stress yourself Gauri," My mom said waving her hands, "Ignore his cravings."
"You won't cook Gajar Halwa and when Gauri offers to cook, you are denying." My Dad frowned.
"You have diabetes forgot that?" My mom said strictly.
"One bowl of Gajar Halwa won't do anything." My dad said and turned towards Gauri ignoring my Mom. " Beta, please make Gajar Halwa." He requested.
"Tej... " My mom said annoyed.
"It's okay, Jhanvi ji." Gauri said softly, "I will make sugar free one, I used to make it for my dad." She rasped.
"Oh, Tej, see what you have done." My mom scolded my Dad gently wrapping her arms around Gauri.
"Arey, what have I done." My dad said walking towards Gauri.
"See, you reminded her about her parents and now she's sad." My Mom said softly rubbing Gauri shoulder.
"I am fine." Gauri said trying to smile.
"Beta, don't feel sad." My dad said softly, "What if your parents are not there with you now, we are there right. Think us as your parents." He said giving a small hug to Gauri.
"Yes, I always wanted a daughter and I feel like I have one whenever I am with you. Feel us like your parents." My mom said giving a soft hug to Gauri making her emotional.
"Thank you." Gauri said smiling through her tears as she looked at me gratefully.
"Yes, Ri." Rudra said coming towards the kitchen, "In fact you should start calling my parents as Mom and Dad." He said standing beside me.
"And him as bhaiyya." I said pushing Rudra inside the kitchen.
"What? No." Rudra said hurriedly making everyone laugh.
The rest of the went fast with my parents and Rudra spending their time chatting with Gauri, who mingled in our family like a family member.
"Gauri, you should come visit us often." My mom said giving a hug to Gauri as we began to retire for the day.
"Yes, I want someone to support on my side." My dad said smiling.
"Sure," Gauri said, "I had a great time with you all."
I stopped my Car in front of Gauri's apartment, all the way long Gauri has been talking about my parents and how much she loved spending time with them.
"I felt like I was spending time with my own parents, you are so lucky to have such a good and loving parents." Gauri said for the hundredth time while I was busy staring at her.
"Omkaraji, did you heard what I said?" Gauri said shaking me.
"Haa, I have been listening the same thing from last 30 minutes." I said smiling getting down from the car.
I jogged towards the passenger seat and opened the door for Gauri to step out.
"Thank you, Omkara ji for taking to your home, I had a wonderful time." Gauri said smiling.
"My pleasure and My parents loved you too." I said standing in front if Gauri, "I felt like I am the guest and you are their daughter." I chuckled.
"Good Night, Omkaraji." Gauri said waving at me.
"Good Night, Gauri." I smiled. "And don't forget about the Golgappe date, you and my dad planned to go on tomorrow night." I reminded her.
When Gauri told my dad how she missed to go and eat golgappa's at night with her father, my dad offered to take her to eat golgappa's.
"I won't forget." Gauri smiled.
"Good, now go. Get inside your apartment so that I can leave after making sure that you are safe." I said hurrying up Gauri.
Gauri nodded and began to walk towards her apartment. After taking two steps, she turned on her heel towards me and gave a small hug surprising me.
"Thank you, Omkaraji." She said softly, "Today after so many years I experienced the parental love that I only dreamt of having. I will never forget this day." She said gratefully and walked towards her apartment. While I stood leaning against my car looking at her back.
She turned around when she reached her apartment's door and gave a wave with a big happy smile. I waved back. I was about to get into my car to go to my own home when the mobile vibrated in my pockets.
"Hello." I said lifting the call without seeing the caller ID.
"Omkara, where are you?" Ishaana's loud voice came from the other end making me pull away the mobile away from my ears.
"I am on my way back to home, Ishaana." I said opening the car door.
"Home?" Ishaana shouted again, "Omkara, dumbo." Ishaana scolded making me wonder why she's scolding me.
"What happened?" I asked confused.
"You forgot my about my invitation for you to attend My wedding anniversary party!" Ishaana exclaimed.
"Shit." I cursed looking at the date in my phone, "Sorry, Ishaana I was having a busy day, I am coming right away. I am sorry again." I apologized frantically.
"You better be here before the party starts." Ishaana warned before disconnecting the call.
I raked my hand through my hair and drove towards the venue grabbing a flower bouquet on the way.
Guess who's making a Dhamakedaar entry in next episode ;)
