Chapter 12
Gauri~
"Hii Gauri, how is everything going." Anika asked me as soon as I entered the cafe.
"Everything's good, Anika. No need to worry." I said placing my bag on the table beside the counter.
"Did he caused any trouble? " Anika asked in a hushed voice after pulling me towards a corner.
"No, he didn't, but I told him the truth." I said looking at her nervously.
"O my god, you said that! How did he reacted?" Anika asked.
"At first, he was shocked and later he was stressing himself trying to recall everything. But then I explained him about everything, he seemed to relaxing a bit. I asked him to stay until he heals completely."
"I am sorry, Gauri. If not for my aunt asking me to run errands for her, I might have came to your house to help you reveal him." Anika said, "I am also sorry that you have to stay alone with a complete stranger."
"Don't be sorry, Anika. I can understand your situation and besides he seems to be harmless and it is just for a few days until he regains his memory. Now tell me about you, Did Shivaay called you?" I asked changing the topic.
"Yes, he called me in the morning and he reached safely." Anika said.
"Did you told him about Om? "
"No. No way I am going to tell him about this in call, he will scold me and will fly back here to make sure we are not doing something stupid." Anika said chuckling.
"He is one protective guy." I said smiling.
"Yeah, that he is. " Anika smiled.
The rest of the day went with normal works at cafe and at evening I left the cafe earlier than usual as now I have to go home to take care of Om, When I entered the home, I found Om sitting on the bed playing with Ash.
"Seems like you both became friends very soon." I said as I walked into the bedroom.
"Yes, he is one friendly guy." Om said petting Ash, who was now laying on Om's stomach curled up.
"Did you had any trouble while I was away? " I asked
"No, everything was good. How was your day? " He asked smiling.
"It went good just a bit tiring but nothing that I couldn't handle. I am going to prepare dinner for us. " I said returning back a smile.
Later I prepared and fed dinner to Om and made him lay on the bed after giving him the medicines.
It's been 2 weeks since I brought Om to my home and he seems to be recovering quickly. We didn't spoke much to each other. The cafe was a little bit crowded today taking into account that today was Friday, Anika was busy packing orders for the customers while I was frosting the cupcakes in the kitchen.
"That's it, I am going to close the cafe for today." Anika said slumping down on the chair near me.
"Hectic day." I said smiling.
"Yes, and I have decided to close the cafe this weekend to give a much needed break for us." Anika said.
"I agree with you, you have been stressing a lot these days. Are you planing any outing?" I asked.
"Nope. Am just going to stay in my bed sleeping the tiredness out. Now pack your bag, we are closing the cafe. I will drop you at home." Anika said.
After 15 minutes Anika dropped me in front my gate.
"Okay Gauri, have a happy weekend." Anika said.
"Thank you, Anika. Have a great weekend." I wished back opening the gate.
"Gauri, wait. " Anika called getting down her scooty.
"What happened, Anika? "
"Nothing, as I am here. Just thought of saying Hi to that poor soul inside your home." Anika said.
"Yes, that would be great." I said opening the door to let Anika get in.
Om was sitting on the bed in laying position watching out of the bedroom window which has become his routine lately.
"Hii Om, How are you feeling?" I asked entering the room.
"Hii Gauri, I am good. How about you?" He asked smiling.
"Good. We have a visitor." I said and Anika entered the room.
"Hii Om, you are looking great than the last time I saw you." Anika said pulling out a chair to sit beside him.
"Hi Anika, Thank you for helping me." Om said gratefully.
"It's nothing. Please don't thank me. Tell me how are you feeling lately." Anika said starting a conversation with Om.
"I am feeling great, except the fact that I am feeling bored sitting alone at home." Om said honestly.
"You don't have to worry about that since I gave a weekend off for Gauri." Anika said.
"I will go get refreshments for you two, please continue with your conversation." I said and walked towards the kitchen.
When I came back carrying a tray with two glasses of juice, Om was laughing on something Anika was saying him about, he looked good when he was laughing, his chocolate brown orbs twinkling.
"Here, I brought orange juice." I said handling a glass to Anika and took one to make Om drink as his hand was still not healed completely.
"I think, I should go now Gauri, my aunt will be wondering about where I had disappeared." Anika said standing from her seat.
"Okay, see you on Monday. Enjoy your weekend." I said.
"Thank you, " Anika said, " Good night, Om. I will see you another day." Anika said to Om.
"Good Night, Anika. It was great to have you here." Om said waving.
"He seems to be a nice guy." Anika said once we came out of the house.
"That he is." I said smiling.
"I will leave now, Good night." Anika said and left.
I came back inside and was cooking dinner when I heard a loud sound from the room and ran out of the kitchen to see what's wrong. As I entered the room, I saw Om standing beside the bed bending down to take the vase that fell on the ground in the process of him getting out of the bed which I guess.
"Where are you going? " I asked rushing to his side to support him.
"I am sorry for disturbing you, I was just trying to get out of the bed since I am getting bored here." He said apologising.
"Please call me if you want anything. And as far as for your boredom sorry for making you feel that way, it's just I am a bit too busy this week." I said feeling bad for making him feel alone.
"Please don't be sorry, I can understand." He said and we both stood there in silence for a minute.
"Walk with me, you can sit in the balcony as we are having a pleasant weather today, while I prepare dinner for us." I said breaking the silence.
He seemed to be happy with that, he smiled widely. I helped him to settled down in one of the wooden chairs in the balcony and went back to kitchen.
As I was cooking in the kitchen I can see him enjoying watching the people on the streets and playing with Ash. I finished preparing the dinner and took it in two plates for us to eat in balcony, as I have no heart to call him inside since he was looking happy being able to see outside after a long time.
"So, how are you feeling about the weather here? " I asked him after finishing our dinner.
"It's great, a bit cold but great." He said smiling and I observed dimples forming on his cheeks.
"As you know, I am having a free weekend. If you wish I can take you to the near by park since you are able to walk on your feet now." I said.
"I would love to. " He said flashing a big smile.
"I don't know anything about you except your name and you work in a cafe." I found him asking after a silence of few minutes.
"What do you want to know about me? " I asked him.
"Anything, about yourself. I would like to know since we sharing a same roof."
"Well, as you know my name is Gauri Sharma, I graduated recently and I work in a cafe owned by Anika. My parents died in a car accident when I was 4 and from then I grew up in Foster homes till I attained the age to move out on my own." I said briefly about myself.
"I wish I too could remember something to tell you about myself." He said sadly.
"One day you will, until then don't stress yourself." I said placing my hand on his hand.
"You are too good, Gauri." He said smiling.
"Why do you feel so? "
"You are helping a complete stranger without expecting anything, you could have left me in the hospital but you brought me to your home and was taking care of me which no one would ever do. You are one sweet and kind woman." He said giving a heart warming smile.
"Honestly, when I saw you all injured and bloodied in that valley, I felt a pain in my heart. I stood there outside of the ICU praying god every minute to keep you safe. I don't know why but I felt some connection with you as if you are related to me. I couldn't let you go for yourself, I know the pain of being lonely and not having someone to care about you." I said remembering the days I spent in orphanage wishing I too had someone to take care of me.
"You have a beautiful soul, Gauri. Not everyone is blessed with one." He said looking into my eyes. His chocolate brown orbs trying to speak depths, they were looking at me with warmth and love??
"I think it's time for you to go to bed." I said breaking the eye lock.
He nodded and followed me to the room where I made him lay down and covered him with duvet.
"Good Night, Om." I said switching in the bed lamp.
"Good Night, Gauri." He said smiling.
