Chapter 22

Yoongi:

"Hyung?" Yoongi looks up from the table as Jimin's voice invades his thoughts. BTS is in a meeting with Bang PD-nim. He looks around at them all. Jungkook and Hoseok's concerned expressions, Namjoon folding his arms beside Seokjin, Taehyung fiddling with a pen, and Jimin staring intensely at him. He stares back, his eyes slightly narrowed as if daring him to say anything about the scandal that came out yesterday.

Of course, after spending so much time at Lilly's house, his members noticed him sleeping in his own bed last night.

He looks away from them, staring at Bang PD instead.

"Alright," Bang PD murmurs, "Let's start discussing the next album. We're all doing solos for this one too right?"

"Yes," Namjoon nods, giving Yoongi a side glance, "We're already passed composition stage. The younger members will organize how they'll do this, whether on their own or with a producer," Namjoon explains. Seokjin nods, knowing full well Namjoon is talking about him as well, even though he's the oldest.

"Understood. I've decided on a few concepts, so we'll talk about that today,"

Bang PD continues to drone on about the concepts for this album and what the compositions should be. Yoongi knows he has quite a few compositions already.

I'll just choose one of the nicer ones and polish it up. Yoongi thinks to himself as his thoughts stray to Lilly.

She has been trying to get in contact with him since he last messaged her yesterday morning. But he's been ignoring every single one of her attempts at contacting him. He can't stop thinking about what Vanilla said to him.

"She was all over me... You should control your girlfriend..."

His jaw tenses as these thoughts penetrate his mind. Is he telling the truth?

Why would he lie?

Exactly, Vanilla has no reason to lie. If he hated Yoongi, or if he had anything against Yoongi, they wouldn't be friends. There is no reason for him to lie.

But then, that would mean Lilly is lying.

He has been ignoring her, but he can't help but read the messages.

LILLY: Yoongi, I didn't do it!

LILLY: You know I could never do that.

LILLY: I trust you completely, why don't you trust me?

LILLY: Ask Vanilla, he'll tell you the paparazzi took shots to make it look that way.

LILLY: In the 'kissing' photo his face is just in front of mine. You can't even see our lips or whether they're touching.

LILLY: Either it's a misunderstanding – if you ask Vanilla, he'll confirm that – or it's a setup.

LILLY: CALL ME!

Anyone in the wrong wouldn't be trying this hard. If she did do it, why would she ask Yoongi to talk to Vanilla, who would just make her look bad?

All of a sudden, the meeting is over. Yoongi stays for a moment, mulling things over in his mind.

"Hyung?" Jimin asks again, placing his hand on Yoongi's shoulder, "Let's talk,"

Yoongi nods, letting Jimin lead him to Yoongi's studio. They sit down.

"Yoongi, you don't believe those articles, do you?" He asks, a small frown on his face. Yoongi scoffs, looking away from him in annoyance.

"I don't know what I believe anymore," Yoongi murmurs, folding his arms, "Why do you care?"

"I thought so," Jimin frowns, his mouth a thin line, "I looked into the article and found out who the staff member was,"

Yoongi leans forward, his eyes wide with curiosity and shock.

You can do that? Yoongi frowns, realizing he hasn't actually tried to find the truth himself. Guilt and jealousy bubble in the pit of his diaphragm for a moment as he realizes how much of an idiot he has been.

All these questions running through his mind and he never once thought to seek the truth?

Am I really that lazy?

Suddenly, an unbidden thought jumps in his mind, causing his heart to beat frantically.

Maybe you were waiting for an excuse to catch her cheating to prove your jealousy isn't misplaced?

He ignores this thought, directing his attention back to Jimin.

"Who was it?"

"Choi Jiyoo," Jimin declares dramatically. Yoongi frowns. Who the hell is that?

"I don't know who that is if that's why you're looking at me like that..." Yoongi grumbles, straining to see if can recall who that is and why he should know them.

"Fuck," Jimin sits back, agitated, "No wonder she was so angry with you,"

"Who is that?" Yoongi snaps.

"Don't you remember?" Jimin asks, "You remember when they hired more staff just before the world tour?"

"New staff?" Yoongi thinks for a moment, recalling the day the staff were introduced. Then it hit him, much like a train, the realization dawning on him.

Choi Jiyoo!

Yoongi sighs with frustration as he remembers who she is.

"The girl who confessed to me," Yoongi mumbles, putting his hand over his mouth as he recalls that day.

FLASHBACK:

"Min Yoongi!" Yoongi turned to find the new receptionist lady standing in the garage. BTS was getting ready to prepare for the first concert of the tour in Seoul.

"Yeah?" He murmured, letting his members head to the van without him.

"There's something I want to tell you," She stuttered, biting her lip.

"Go on," Yoongi looked back to the van, hoping the members weren't getting agitated.

"I... I like you Min Yoongi!" She said loudly, bowing slightly.

Yoongi stared at her for a moment, unsure what to say. The girl was very pretty, she even went out of her way to dress well. But he can't like her. He wasn't ready for a relationship. BTS wasn't ready to get into relationships. Plus, he doesn't know her. He can't accept any random girl. He can't encourage her like that. Yet, he can't hurt her feelings too much.

He sighed.

"I'm sorry..." He began but realized he doesn't know her name.

"Choi Jiyoo," She mumbled, tears were already forming in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, Choi Jiyoo," He said, "But... I can't date right now, plus... I don't know you well, you know? So..."

"It's okay!" She laughed as a few tears fell down her cheeks, "I understand, I just wanted you to know, that's all,"

"I see," Yoongi replied, turning to the car, "Well I better get going,"

"Yeah," She grinned, "Fighting!"

"Mm, fighting" He smiled kindly, rushing to the car.

"Yeah, that girl," Jimin murmurs, frowning slightly.

Yoongi considers this for a moment. This answers one question, but the photos she took were still suggestive, and Vanilla confirmed it.

"But Vanilla said she came onto him," Yoongi snaps, glaring at Jimin again, "She did make a move,"

"Now here's the really bad news," Jimin bites his lip, leaning forward, "Vanilla likes Jiyoo,"

Yoongi laughs.

"Alright, I can see how you found out Jiyoo took the photos, but I don't understand how you came to this conclusion," Yoongi scoffs, his arms folded again.

"I saw him confess to her one night," Jimin states clearly, "I also saw him trailing around her for the past few weeks since your relationship was revealed,"

"So...?" Yoongi frowns.

"So," Jimin rolls his eyes, "I think they banded together to set this up so you will leave Lilly,"

"But that doesn't benefit Vanilla," Yoongi frowns.

"No, but Jiyoo's happiness benefits him," Jimin points out.

Yoongi considers this for a moment. Maybe he should have kicked Vanilla in the stomach.

Yoongi stands, startling Jimin a little.

"Where are you going?" Jimin mumbles, standing up and following him to the door.

"I'm going to put an old friend in the hospital," Yoongi states as-a-matter-of-factly.

"Wait!" Jimin sighs as he storms away from him.

Yoongi doesn't care, all he can see and think right now is him; Vanilla.

. . . . .

Lilly:

I bite my lip, pacing my apartment.

I haven't left my apartment because of the death threats Bighit have been receiving about me. I agree, but because of the lockdown I can't seek Yoongi and force him to listen to me.

I jump as I hear my phone vibrate on the counter. I rush over, picking it up with shaky hands.

I deflate, a little disappointed. Jimin has texted me. I open it.

JIMIN: Hey, can I come to see you? It's about the article.

LILLY: What's happening? Does Yoongi hate me?

JIMIN: I've explained everything to him, but I need to talk to you about who did it. I don't want to text it just in case someone finds out. Can I come over?

LILLY: Fine, it's not like I can say no to a guest. It's lonely when you're under house arrest.

JIMIN: It's okay :P I'm on my way!

I put my phone down, allowing myself to smile a little. At least I won't be alone.

Namjoon told me Jimin has moved on, but he's still protective of me. Which is fine by me. It's nice to have a friend who actually cares. He has been messaging every so often to catch up, apologize, and remind me he's fine now.

I look down at my phone, hoping Yoongi will message me, or call me. Anything. Anything at all.

I don't know how to persuade him. How can I explain it's not true if he won't respond to me? I might as well tell my brick wall I'm innocent for all the good it'll do.

I've even tried messaging Vanilla, but he won't respond either. He was mentioned in the article, so surely, he has been having a bad time too, right?

If he is innocent, why doesn't he clear it up? Why doesn't he clear my name? What has he said to Yoongi to make Yoongi ignore me?

The only thing that makes sense in my mind is that Vanilla did it on purpose to make Yoongi hate me. But the reasonability stops there. Vanilla has no reason to hate me or to ruin Yoongi's relationship.

Each time I sit and think about all this, my mind always ends up back to one person: Jiyoo. She was the only other person there. She would have seen the person who took the photos.

But then again, the pictures look like they're in her perspective.

My mind runs around and around in circles, reaching conclusions and dismissing them. I feel like I'm missing something, something that'll link it all together.

I hear Jimin knocking on the door.

"Coming!" I call out, rushing to let him in.

"Hey, Lilly," Jimin smiles, slowly entering and walking over to the dining table.

I follow him, sitting across from him calmly.

"What news do you have for me?" I ask.

I let Jimin talk into silence. He explains how Vanilla likes Jiyoo and how Jiyoo was rejected by Yoongi last year. He goes to explain Jiyoo took the photos and Vanilla posed with me to make it look like I was all over him.

After a while, Jimin leans forward, taking my hand.

"Are you okay?" He asks, smiling sadly.

I pull my hand away, nodding mutely.

Jimin sighs, leaning back and folding his arms.

"It's sad that so many people keep trying to ruin your relationship," Jimin murmurs, "I guess this is how you know it's destiny, huh?"

"Destiny?" I ask, smirking, "Me and you?"

"No," He chuckles, "You and Yoongi,"

I don't reply, unsure what he's implying. I guess its hard to believe he's moved on, so I'm not sure if he's actually saying Yoongi and I are meant to be together.

"Yoongi... deserves you," Jimin smiles sadly, "Nothing screams destiny as complications do,"

I nod, taking in his words. He's right. Love isn't easy, and why should it be? If love was easy, life would be easy as well. But life has never been easy. It's full of problems and complications. So why should love be any different?

I grin at him, indicating I've understood his words and I am very grateful. Jimin grins back, leaning forward and taking my hand again.

SLAM!

We jump as Yoongi enters the apartment, pushing the door with such force it bounces off the wall and back into him.

He doesn't notice. He opens his mouth to call out but stops. His eyes fall onto our entwined hands, his eyes narrowing.

I pull away, standing up and walking over to him. He's got a swollen jaw and he's limping.

"What happened, Yoongi?" I ask. Before I can place my hand on his cheek, he shoves it away, glaring at Jimin.

"So, this was your plan all along?" Yoongi asks Jimin, "Just take her away whilst we're fighting? Give me a taste of my own medicine?"

"Hyung..." Jimin murmurs, hurt by Yoongi's words.

"Yoongi, it's not what you think," I explain, "He was explaining what was happening with Jiyoo and Vanilla,"

"And he needs to hold your hand to tell you that?" Yoongi snaps, glaring at me. I open my mouth to speak but close it. It's no use. Once Yoongi reaches this point, he can't be reasonable.

"Just go," I murmur, turning to Jimin, "Go now,"

Jimin nods, sensing danger.

Yoongi tenses, turning to grab Jimin before he can leave. However, I grab Yoongi's arm, preventing him from stopping him.

Jimin bows, smiling sadly as he closes the door behind him.

Yoongi shrugs my hand off him, directing his deadly eyes to me.

"Are you enjoying this? The attention?" He snaps, his mouth tight as his swollen jaw restricts his movement.

"Just leave, Yoongi," I murmur weakly, "You can come back and talk to me about this tomorrow when you've calmed down,"

"I don't want to," Yoongi snaps. I look up at him warily. His eyes are red, and his jaw is trembling. For a moment I'm scared he's going to hit me. But what he does is much worse, so much worse.

He turns and storms off to the spare room he claimed. He doesn't shut the door, so I can hear him shuffling around.

I follow him in, confused.

My eyes widen, and my jaw drops as I find him putting all his belongings in a bag.

"Hey," I mumble, "What are you doing?"

"I'm leaving," He grunts, shoving past me as he heads to the bathroom in my room. I follow him out, standing in the kitchen area, completely bewildered, ignoring the realization as it creeps up on me.

"Why are you getting your things though?" I ask stupidly.

Yoongi saunters out, the bag slung over his shoulder. He glares down at me, his eyes narrow, and his mouth set in a sneer.

"Because I'm not coming back," He snaps, grabbing my wrist and pulling me into him. I gasp, staring up at him in shock, "Don't call me, don't text me,"

He releases me, pushing my arm away so I tumble into the kitchen bench.

"What?" my lip trembles as his words slowly sink in.

No..., please... don't do this...

"I'm breaking up with you," Yoongi growls, "You got that?"

He storms out and slams the door, hard. I collapse to the ground, tears falling down my face.

Why?

Why Yoongi?

I cradle myself, sobbing earnestly into my knees.
