Special

Pride

Martens

"Hey where you going so soon?" I down the glass before I chase after him only to get slammed against a body.

And again, her blond hair flies across my vision as she falls into my arms. The goddess of sin. Her drunken eyes flutters as she stares into mine.

Finally. "We meet again."

I cannot help the smile that forms on my lips and the happiness that warms my heart. I bring her up and slowly brush the blond strands that had fallen across her face. "Do I know you?"

"Oh, I would love to know you." I beam, my hand on her waist pulling her closer to me as her drunken giggles rings my ears. She stands straight and pushes me away. But I simply follow her steps as she walks away.

"Who have you got there Aleks?" The guy on the sofa asks, his arms already around the other guy that lay on his arms.

"Zero clue."

I chuckle standing closely behind her just in case she needs help. I was glad that I finally got her name. Aleks. Suits her fierce personality. "Hey, Martens here."

"George." He waves in acknowledgement, and I nod my head back. "So, you guys celebrating something special?"

"Yeah, my best friends divorce." She says with sarcasm laced in her voice.

"Well, that will be a first for me then."

"Don't think about it much, it looks like they might as well be getting back together soon." George chuckles while Aleks throws daggers at him.

"Cool." And I stop myself from commenting further on the topic. I was not involved, and I was definitely not trying to get on her bad side.

"Take me home, George. And where is Mo? I don't see her around." She looks around, swaying as she turns her head, as if it weighted against her and I follow her movement, ready to catch her if she were to fall again.

"Don't worry about her. She's in good hands." I narrow my eyes at that, but I don't make any comments. "Henry will do the honours of taking you home tonight." He points at the guy standing by the end of the sofa who gives a slight nod.

But I just couldn't let her go again, so soon, without really getting to know anything about her.

Just a name wasn't enough anymore.

"Can I hitch a ride too? My friend kind of just ditched me here." I quickly hold Alek's arm and send my apology to Landon. But he did really leave me here though. And I don't see him around anymore too. I doubt he even remembers that I came along with him.

"I have no way of getting home." I give her a puppy smile, pocketing my so-called-pride.

If this is what it takes to know her, so be it.
