Chapter 31

Days had past, and surprisingly, nothing had seemed to happen. There was this strange peace that filled them, but they felt too uncertain about it still. Was this a coincidence, or was this reality now? Either way, they kept alert for anything and everything.

Ariara sighed as she sat down on a chair, thinking. She rested her arm on the armrest as she rested her head in her hand. She didn't notice anyone approach her, she felt too dazed into her thoughts. All of a sudden, she felt a hand touch her shoulder, and she jumped in surprise.

Reyeld couldn't help but chuckle softly, while he also felt bad, "I'm sorry, love. I didn't mean to scare you."

Ariara laughed in relief as she heard the familiar voice of Reyeld, "It's alright, really."

Reyeld's face turned concerned, "Are you sure? You didn't seem alright." He sat down on a chair next to her calmly. He gently placed his hand on hers.

She sighed, knowing no matter what she did, she knew he would never believe her lies. He knew her well enough to know how she truly feels. She was grateful for that. "No, I'm not."

He asked in his calm, gentle voice, "I know you're worried about Tommy. I wish I could tell what will happen in the future, but we will do our best to stay together. We can get through this no matter what." He smiled a bit to try to help her.

Sadly, it didn't help. She sighed again, "I know. I'm just scared of losing Tommy, and/or you. What if we never get to see each other again? Especially Tommy. He's not old enough to defend himself yet. What if we never see him again? What if-" All of her stress pored out into worried tears. She sobbed into her love, shaking.

Reyeld patiently let her cry, and hugged her gently. It felt like he could feel her heart break and that he could feel her emotions as she poured her heart out. All he could do was rub her back gently and let her cry it all out.
