3rd POV: Spiderman kept his focus on the emperor of Outworld. The man was dangerous. He had an aura of arrogance, but with the arrogance, there was also assurance, assurance that spidey had seen from many of his rogues gallery, that they believed that they had the upper hand, that they were stronger and smarter than him. However, if there was one thing that Shao Khan had in common with the rest of his rogues, is that their arrogance will be their downfall and that he will always prevail at the end of the day.

Spiderman could feel the gazes of his fellow allies and the opposition. They had stopped their battles and were all focused on the battle between Outworld's ruler and the spider totem. Peter risked a glance at chasm, seeing his clone staring back at him, his arms crossed, his stance looking nonchalant but was actually tensed, watching, waiting for either him or shao Khan to make the first move.

Shao Khan extended his arm out, and a green glow enveloped his hand before a hammer materialised in front of it. Shao Khan grabbed the hammer and heaved it onto his shoulder. Spiderman responded by clenching hid fists and felt his stingers pierce through his skin and reveal themselves to the world.

'I need to play this carefully, I doubt this guy has been in a position of power thanks to being a muscle head.' Spiderman thought, burying his feet into the sand as he shifted into a ready stance to which the Outworld emperor imitated.

It wasn't long before one of the kombatants acted. Shao Khan ran to the wallcrawler, his hammer raised in the air as he yelled before slamming down on Spiderman. The spider hero's spidey sense tingled, and he rolled to the left side, avoiding the hammer slam before leaning back as shao Khan wasted no time and went for a side swing. Spiderman took the chance to jump at shao Khan, stabbing his stingers into the emperor's stomach, but the Khan either ignored the pain or didn't feel it as shao Khan grabbed ond of the spider's arm and yanked the singer out of his stomach before he backhanded spiderman, causing the totem to stagger, his other stinger sliding out of the Khan's stomach.

Shao Khan then grabbed Spiderman by his throat and lifted him up into the air, strangling the reincarnation of anansi. Shao Khan laughed before spinning with the hero in hand before throwing him into the bars of a cage. Spiderman manoeuvred himself mid air, his feet scraping on the ground until he eventually came to the stop, his back inches from the cage where a wild animal was smashing against the bars trying to get at the Web warrior. Shao khan's hammer transformed into a spear, and the Khan threw it towards the wallcrawler who, upon seeing it, caught mid-air, the tip of the spear inches from his chest.

Spiderman turned his attention from the spear to the Outoworlder, his head tilted to the side in a way of saying 'nice try' towards the Khan but paused when he saw said Khan smirking. Spidey wondered why before his spidey sense rang, and he looked back down at the spear to see it glowing and ominous green and, without thinking, threw it away from him just as it exploded.

'That was close.' Spiderman thought, a mental sigh of relief. His spidey sense rang once again, and he turned to see an approaching Shao Khan. Spiderman dodged the multiple attacks by shao Khan before, trying to get an opening before getting an idea. Just as shao Khan threw another punch, Spiderman decided to tank the blow and throw his own against the emperor.

Stunned by the attack, shao Khan didn't get a chance to react to the following attacks as Spiderman slid past shao Khan and sliced at the Outoworlder's achiles heel on his right and then fired multiple webbing at the emperor's legs, keeping him in place. The spider jumped on the Khan and began slashing at the emperor's back before jumping to avoid the emperor's hands attempting to grab him. Spidey then fired a web, passed the shao khan's faces and pulled himself towards the emperor, and, with a yell, landed a punch straight at shao khan's face, knocking a tooth out before using his left stinger and leaving a huge cut from the emperor's stomach, all the way up to his left shoulder before kicking him away.

The Khan's feet skidded across the sand before halting. Shao then spat some blood out of his mouth before touching the cut on his chest and staring at the blood on his hands.

"All that for a few drops of blood." Shao Khan said, his tone indifferent as he casually wipes the blood off of his hands. "Your reflexes are impressive, but you will never beat me with predictable attacks." He said, a smirk on his face. "Where is the animal that shang tsung told me about? The one that almost killed his own blood?" He asked, bringing up the battle between Spiderman and chasm.

"I wasn't in my right state of mind back then." Spiderman started. "And I would never kill anyone, not unless I have no choice." Spiderman finished. It wasn't his intention to lose himself to the spider inside, and he didn't plan to lose himself again unless he willingly gave in to it.

"Is that a fact?" Shao Khan asked before spreading his arms out. "Then that makes you weak." He insulted. "To kill your enemies means to end their reign and their miserable lives. To prove that you are the strongest and the most powerful." Shao Khan said out loud so that everyone could hear. The crowd cheers and chants his name whilst the Khan doesn't pay attention and merely points at Spiderman. "I can see that you hold power boy. But you lack the strength to wield its full potential, and it is because of that weakness that you will always fail to protect the ones you love." Shao kahn drops his hand down, a cynical chuckle escaping him. "Just like your children." He mocked.

Spiderman stiffened.

Everyone tensed, remembering how Spiderman acted when someone brought up his daughters.

"Pete, don't." Superman (JLU) silently begged.

"Don't give in." Wonder Woman (JLU) whispered.

"Come on, man, don't let him bait you." Dante said, his eyes focused, his now cold pizza forgotten.

"He's just trying to piss you off." Trish said, her eyes staring intently at Spiderman.

"Now, now, dear. Concentrate." Morrigan sternly said aloud.

"Peter...." Aunt May (616) silently called out to her nephew, worry etched on her face. Her niece said nothing and merely stared at her brother, mentally preparing herself.

"Uncle Peter..." The children of Susan Storm (616) uttered out in unison. Their mother kept her hold on her children, her sole focus on her friend.

Many more began to worry about how Spiderman would react and mentally prepared themselves.

(Mortal kombat universe)

The earthrealm team all stared at the still form of Spiderman, who glared at the emperor. Before he sighed and closed his eyes before sheathing his stingers, catching everyone's attention.

"Oh, choosing to surrender, are you? Know that I will still crush your life." Shao Khan said, clenching his fist in front of him for emphasis.

"No." Spiderman said, his tone calm and collected. "I should congratulate you, though. He said, catching the emperor's attention.

"For what?" His eyes narrowed.

"You're one of the very, and I mean VERY, few people to have made me this angry." Spiderman said. He then removed the gloves of his suit.

Kingpin (616) let out a gulp as he knew what Spiderman was about to do. He could remember the look Spiderman was giving shao Khan. It was the same that he was given. He could still remember the pain, the humiliation, and the fear.

(Mortal kombat universe)

"From this point on, I'm not fighting you...." Spiderman continued before removing his mask and soon the top half of his suit.

"I am." Peter said, his hair flowing in the wind. The wounds he had gained whilst being in this universe were healed, leaving only scars.

Before shao Khan could react, Peter lunged at the emperor, punching his open chest wound before duckng another punch from shao Khan and delivering his own.

Shao Khan staggered and roared before lunging at Peter, who moved too fast for shao Khan to catch and was subjected for another brutal beating, courtesy of the spider totem.

The barrage of attacks were too much for the emperor, who fell to his knees, the crowd in the stands abruptly stopped cheering, watching in silent shock as their emperor was brought to his knees but Peter wasn't done. Using his wallcrawling ability, he placed his hand on shao khan's chest and clenched on the emperor's flesh, hoisting him up to stare at the Outworlder in the eyes before rearing his other hand back before sending powerful slaps across the face of the emperor, blood shooting out of his mouth with each slap before pausing and bringing shao Khan close.

"Now you listen to me..." Peter growled out. Raising his slapping hand and aiming it at the khan's open mouth.

After saying his peace, peter moved his hand away from the emperor's face and sent another slap across shao khan's face, watching as he limply fell to the ground.

Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief. Many could say that the fight was very intense and one-sided. The threat that Spiderman gave was embedded into their heads, reminding people that every one has a breaking point and Spiderman was no exception.

(Mortal kombat universe)

Spiderman stared at the unmoving form of shao Khan before looking up to the people to the stands. Everyone was staring at him, with various reactions across their faces.

"ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!" Peter bellowed out, looking at every single person in the stands. "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!" He shouted out again, glaring at the people who chanted their emperor's name and crying out for blood. "IS THIS NOT WHY YOU'RE HERE?!" He asked once more.

Peter's spidey sense went off, and he sharply turned around and was met with a fist to the face, turning his face to the side. Shao Khan had gotten up when Peter's back was turned and used the opportunity to land a punch, hoping to stagger the hero, but it did no such thing. Instead, Peter tanked the hit and slowly turned to face shao Khan, the emperor's fist still on his cheek, giving a disappointed look.

Peter then raised his hand up, his fingers inches from the emperor's chest before clenching his fist and performing a one inch punch.

Shao Khan collapsed to his knees again, but Peter gripped the Khan by his throat and forced him to look into Peter's eyes.

"I didn't need to go easy on you." Peter said out loud.

(Omniverses)

'That was going easy?' Was the general thought everyone had.

(Mortal kombat universe)

"I bet you're beginning to feel it now, aren't ya? What the rest of us live with every day, your own Mortality." Peter said, leaning closer. "I want you to remember that feeling, I want it to remind you that your life was in my hands, and I CHOSE to let you live. In all your years to come, in your most private moments...." Peter tightened his grip on shao khan's throat a little more. "I want you to remember the one man who beat you." Peter finished before lifting shao Khan up and then slamming him, face first into the ground.

A golden glow soon surrounded Peter who closed his eyes and embraced the strange warmth it gave before it slowly faded.

"It is finished, earthrealm is safe once mode." Raiden said.

The earthrealm team approached Peter who's suit and gloves materialised back on him but decided to not bother putting the mask back on. Kung Lao was the closest and he was the first to bow to the hero.

"Thank you, for saving me." Kung Lao said, grateful to the hero. Peter patted kung lao's shoulder.

"No thanks needed man, it was the right thing to do, I'm just glad I made it in time." Peter said, before he was embraced by psylocke and Storm and this time he returned the gesture without it being awkward this time. Liu kang also bowed to Peter but Peter waved it off, stating that a simple thanks would do. Jade and skarlet were next to congratulate him, Jade giving a hug and skarklet planting a small kiss on his cheek. Johny cage brought an arm around the wallcrawler, bringing his phone up and turning the camera to them as he took a selfie with Peter with said totem smiling for the camera. Kaine punched Peter's shoulder, congratulating him to which Peter raised his fist up and kained bumped it with his.

Peter caught mileena's gaze who seemed to be staring at him and kaine in silent envy. Peter turned to kitana who smiled at him and Peter went up to the princess.

"Kitana listen." Peter began. "You should talk to mileena." Peter held his hand up as he saw kitana about to protest. "I know that you don't want anything to do with her and that she was created to replace you but hear me out." He said and after a moment, kitana nodded her head. "Look I know she's a clone, but, it doesn't matter because at the end of the day, she's your sister." Peter began, he could feel the eyes of chasm but chose to ignore for the moment and continued talking. "All she wants, is to be with you, her sister, her family, someone that she can talk to, someone to hang out with and someone she could trust with utmost certainty." Peter said, his gaze turning to Ben and then kaine when he mentioned trust before focusing on kitana. "Is it right to kill her for circumstances that she had no control over? And is it right to deny her the right to be with her family?" He finally asked and waited for kitana to respond back.

The former princess of outworld glanced at her clone/sister, then back at Spiderman, a decision was made.

"Acoompany me?" Kitana requested.

Peter nodded and the 2 walked to mileena who tensed at seeing them approach. Tanya in front of mileena, ready for a fight and Peter and kitana stopped, a short distance from the Tanya and mileena. Kitana then moved forward and after a moment mileena moved Tanya aside and approached kitana.

The 2 were having a quiet conversation and Tanya decided to approach Peter.

"What are you planning?" Tanya asked, her eyes narrowed.

"Nothing, I'm just trying to bring 2 sisters together." Peter said, his stance relaxed as he watched the 2 sisters talk.

Tanya stared at Peter and then back at her fellow edenians and after a moment, stood next to Peter as both observed the sisters.

Mileena pointed at kitana, seemingly saying something in anger and judging by how kitana's shoulders dropped and her head moved to the side as she nodded, it was an accusation that kitana confirmed.

"Do you honestly believe that my lady will be accepted by kitana? Or do that they'll even be a family?" Tanya asked, her gaze not leaving the siblings.

Peter saw how kitana spoke to mileena, she seemed passionate in what she was saying and he could also see the conflict on mileena's face as she stared at kitana then at shao Khan. Kitana reached out and placed a hand on mileena's shoulder, saying something else and waiting for mileena to respond. After a while, mileena gently grabbed kitana's hand and held it in her own for a few tender moments before slowly letting go and walking away as kitana looked on, almost hopeful.

"I have a feeling that they're on their way there." Peter said, a smile on his face. "Sometimes, you have to take a leap of faith, that's all it is." He finished before approaching kitana. "I take it that progress was made?" He asked.

"Yes, it was a Rough start but I believe I got through to her. She said she wanted to confirm something that you had brought up." Kitana said, her gaze locked on to Peter. "What was it you said?" She asked.

Peter thought about it and the only thing that he could think of that mileena needed confirmation was the possibility of more clones.

"Mileena believes that she was the only clone created, I told her that could not be the case as there was always the possibility of more being made without her knowledge." Peter explained.

"Speaking from experience?" The former princess asked.

"You have no idea." Peter said, he turned to where chasm stood only to he was long gone. 'He slips away again.' Peter thought in annoyance. He then felt kitana's hand on his as she dragged him.

"Come, let us join the others." She said as the 2 returned.

When they joined up with the rest, Peter noticed the look of distress on raiden's face as he stared at the amulet.

"Raiden, what's wrong?" Peter asked, worried about what could have the thunder god looks so distressed.

".......the future remains unchanged, the dark times are almost upon us." The thunder god said. Peter narrowed his eyes.

It would seem that the worst was yet to come.

A/N: alright, another down, we're almost done with MK9 now, this has certainly been a journey, next will probably be the invasion and the shitstorm that follows it.
