The secret

*Back to Lexie's pov*

"Lexie, you've been gone forever," Matt pouts. Right now we're both sitting on the couch on Twitter.

"I was only gone for like four days," I laugh.

"So?! It was too long! All of the guys were busy," he frowns.

"What were they doing? They're never doing anything!" I gasp.

"I know right!" he chuckles. "I think some of them were hanging out with other Youtubers."

"Why didn't you join them?" I question him.

"First of all, it was too far. Secondly, I wasn't in a party mood," he shrugs.

"You're so antisocial," I giggle.

"Whatever. But we have to catch up girlfriend!" he says like a girl.

"True. We should go to the mall," I suggest.

"What would we do there?" he asks.

"Shop, drink Starbucks, walk around," I answer.

"Why not," he nods.

"Okay, I'll be ready in twenty minutes!" I tell him before running upstairs to my room.

I change into my mint green skater skirt and my white crop top that says 'No'. Then I put on my maroon converse before leaving my hair natural and adding light makeup.

"Ready?" Matt asks when I come downstairs.

"Yerp," I nod before we walk out to my car and get into it. "Ugh, I hate the color of my car so much."

"It's not that bad," he chuckles.

"Seriously? It looks like someone threw up all over my car but worse," I frown.

"Thanks for the vivid description," he sarcastically says while rolling his eyes.

When we arrive to the mall, it's surprisingly not that crowded.

"Let's go get Starbucks!" I insist while dragging Matt to the short line.

"Why here first?" he asks me.

"Because the line is short. The line is never short!" I explain before ordering the usual, a Java Chip frappichino.

"True," he adds before just simply ordering lemonade.

After we get our drinks we start looking around.

"Oh my gosh!" I squeal as we walk to Aeropostale.

"Wow," Matt gasps.

Right in front of the store is a giant poster of Nash, Cameron, Carter, and Hayes with a few other people.

"They must have been working on the clothes line when I was gone," I suggest.

"Maybe," Matt responds. "But I think they still might have hung out with the O2L guys or something." I quickly snap a picture of the sign and post it on Instagram, tagging all of them.

"Now c'mon!" I exclaim while grabbing his arm and leading him inside.

We start checking out the clothes, which are really cool.

"I'm going to get some of Nash's merch," I giggle while picking out a cute shirt that is by the table.

Matt grabs one of Carter's shirts and we check out.

"Wow, arent we fancy," he smirks.

"I am but I donno about you," I wink.

"What do you mean?" he frowns. "Im the fancy one."

"Sure," I jokingly disagree.

"So, where should we go next?" Matt asks me.

"I don't really care-"

"Wait!" he blurts. "We should go to a shoe shop here. I need some new Vans."

"Okay," I agree.

We start walking to the store and then we see a few teenagers staring at us.

"Do you think they're fans?" I ask Matt.

"Maybe," he answers. "Let's go talk to them."

I nod before we walk over to them.

"H-hey," one of them stutters, causing me to giggle.

"There's no reason to be nervous, ya know. We're just humans," I explain.

"You guys are perfect human beings," one of the girls correct me and Matt starts cracking up.

"Perfect? Haven't you seen how many times I'v messed up?" he chuckles.

"But I'm a fangirl," the girl tells Matt. "We see your flaws. But your flaws are still perfect to us."

"Wow. That was deep," he says after a few seconds and then we all start laughing. "Do you guys want a picture?"

"Yes, please!" they exclaim.

"Oh, and you guys never told me your name! What are they?" I ask.

"I'm Elena and this is Annabelle," the girl explains.

"Oh, okay," I smile. "Those are pretty names."

We quickly take individual pictures and then a group picture.

"Thank you guys so much!" Annabelle smiles while giving us both a hug.

"No problem!" Matt grins. "Well we have to go and get some new shoe. It was great meeting you guys. Bye!"
I wave to both the girls before continuing our journey.

"There it is!" I yell after walking for a while. The shoe store is a few stores away.

"TO THE STORE WE GO!" Matt yells before we start sprinting to the store.
When we get there, we walk into the store and start looking around.

"Look at these shoes!" I gasp while pointing to some graffitied converse.
"These are adorable!"

"Look at these!" Matt grins while holding up a pair of high heels. "These are totally me."

"Defiantly," I smirk while he puts the shoes back.

"Ugh I don't know which shoes to get," he groans.

"What about these?" I question him. l'm while holding up a pair of white Vans with palm trees on them.

"Those are pretty cool," he agrees. "Alright, let's go check out."

We head up to the checkout line and I check out first.

When the lady at the counter asks for the money, Matt tries to pay.

"Matt, you can't always pay for me," I laugh.

"Yes I can," he smirks. "I'm just being a gentleman."

"I know, but save your money for more Vans or something. I can pay for this," I smile.

He starts to pout but I pay the lady anyways before moving so he can pay.
After we're done, we start looking around for another good shop.

"Oh, can we go to Charlotte Russe?" I question him.

"Sure," he tells me and then we go to the store.

I find a few crop tops and a pair of high waisted skinny jeans before I purchase them.

Matt gets a SnapBack, a bucket hat, and a beanie.

"Now you know where we have to go," Matt smirks.

"Where?" I giggle.

"THE CANDY STORE!" he exclaims excitedly.

"Okay," I agree," but I'm not going in there."

"Why not?" he laughs.

"Because if I do, I'll buy everything in the candy store and then I'll be broke," I admit.

"Okay," he piped before entering the store. I just stand outside of it and get on Twitter.

A few minutes later someone grabs my wrist and turns me around.

"Well, what a surprise to see you here," Nate cackles.

"Why are you here?" I snap.

"I'm shopping," he rolls his eyes while holding up his bags. "So I heard that Shawn broke up with you. Do me a favor?"

"No," I frown.

"Tell Shawn good job. He finally came to his senses and broke up with you," he smirks. "Why was it this time? You were too demanding or annoying, as usual?"

"Whatever," I mutter while getting back on my phone.

"You see, you'll be alone for a while now," he hisses. "Your practically rejecting boys by being in the same room as them."

"But I have a boyfriend," I spit out, surprising myself in the process.
"You do?" he laughs. "Who?"

I say the second name that pops into my head. The first being Harry Styles, the second being Matt.

Gosh, what have I gotten myself into...

"Matt? He's your boyfriend? I really doubt that," he sneers.

Matt walks out of the store and I call out to him. I have to make this as real as possible. CRAP.

"Matt! Babe!" I yell with my face burning red. He gives me a weird look, but he sees Nate so he knows something's going on.

He walks over to me and puts his arm around me and I awkwardly lean my head on his chest.

"So, you're stuck with dating her?" Nate retorts.

"Stuck?" Matt questions him. "You're acting like it's a bad thing.

"So I see you don't know Lexie's secrets, do you?" he shot and my heart skipped a beat.

"Nate, no, you promised-" I start to say but he cuts me off.

"Did you know that Lexie used to be depressed?" he asks Matt and I put my head in my hands.

"YOU WERE THE REASON FOR THAT!" I shout at him with tears burning the rim of my eyes. "YOU ARE A FREAKING MONSTER!"

"Lexie," Matt looks at me with concern before grabbing my wrists and signing with relief. Did he seriously think I would cut?

"I would never cut," I tell him. "Even though Nate pushed me towards trying to."

"WHY WOULD YOU EVER DO THAT?" Matt screams at him.

"I didn't," he surrenders.

"Well you certainly didn't help higher my self esteem," I snap.

Nate starts trying to talk again but Matt takes me into his arms and starts yelling at him.

After a few minutes Nate walks away and Matt and I are just standing there.

"Do you remember what those fans told us?" he asks after a few minutes of silence.

"Their names?" I ask and he slightly laughs.

"No. That if someone loves you enough, they forget about your flaws because they love you enough," he explains.

"I'm not depressed anymore," I smile while wiping my eyes. "I'm happy with myself and that's all I could ever want."

"Good," he exclaims. "So... What's up with the fake dating thing?"

"Don't worry. He knew it was fake," I explain.

"He did?" he questions me.

"Yeah. One of my fans retweeted his tweet," I tell him.

"So are you up for shopping still?" Matt asks me.

"Nah. Let's go home," I say before we leave, and I try to forget about what just happened.
