Marco Polo and Nightmares
It's been a few weeks on tour, and we're in England now.
"Okay, we're going to be on a tour bus from now on," Angela explains to us. "Most of the places we're going to are somewhat close to each other, so it'll just be easier to do this. We'll only be flying when we're going to another country or continent."
"That means long days on the bus," Charles continues. "The bus is pretty roomy, though,so most likely no one will mind. There's four beds, one for each of us. They're like cubbies, so they are pretty small. Also, there's a kitchen, a bathroom, and a room that has a bunch of things to do so no one don't get bored. It has a TV, a bunch of outlets, and a few other things."
"That's awesome!" I gasp.
"Yeah, when do we get to go onto the bus?" Shawn asks.
"Later tonight," Angela explains. "You still have a few hours to do whatever. We'll get you before we leave."
"Hmm," I think while turning towards Shawn. "We could go swimming."
"That sounds fun," he agrees. "I'll meet you down at the pool in a few minutes."
"Alright," I smile while racing up to my hotel room.
When I get in there, I take off my makeup so it doesn't smear in the pool. Then I put my hair up into a high pony tail and slide on a black and white striped tankini. (A/N: guys I couldn't bring myself to make her wear a bikini. I know you all think it's stupid that I always make Lexie wear a tankini but oh well. I'm a modest person who doesn't share too much skin so that's how she's going to be. Sorry if this upsets you)
Then I run downstairs and see Shawn already in the deep end of the water.
"Is it cold?" I ask, getting his attention.
"Not really," he shakes his head. "Just jump in. You'll get used to it faster."
I dip my foot into the water and then immediately take it back out.
"Shawn!" I shriek. "The water is freezing!"
"No it's not," Shawn chuckles while swimming over to the side of the pool that I'm at. "You get used to it."
"Ugh," I groan.
"C'mon, get in the water!" he encourages.
"But-"
"You're over thinking this," Shawn laughs. "If you don't get in the pool, I'll have to force you into it."
"No!" I pout. "Just let me get used to the water."
I sit down on the edge of the pool and let my feet dangle in the icy water.
"Scaredy cat," Shawn teases while holding onto the ledge.
"Shut up," I roll my eyes.
"Lex, you're wasting our time," he frowns. "We only have a few hours until it's time to leave."
"I know-" I start to say but then Shawn grabs my foot and pulls me into the water. The Arctic like water hits my body as I merge under. I swim back up and see Shawn smirking. "Shawn!"
"Is it still cold?" he winks.
"Yes- well actually, no," I mutter under my breath.
"Guess who was right once again," he chuckles.
I giggle and splash water at him. "You were right for once. Don't get too cocky there."
"Okay, okay," he smiles. "So, what do you want to do now?"
"We can play Marco Polo," I suggest.
"That's so typical," Shawn groans. "But alright."
"You're automatically it because you're Shawn," I explain.
"Oh, really, that's how it works?" he asks while raising an eyebrow.
"Yep," I nod. "Now close your eyes and don't peek!"
He closes his eyes and starts counting. I quietly swim around and over to the shallow end of the pool. Then I get out and stand on the tiled floor.
"Marco," Shawn exclaims while spinning around and listening.
"Polo," I shout.
"Marco," he repeats while swimming over to the shallow end.
I run over to the deep end of the pool and answer. "Polo."
He turns around and swims closer to the deep part. "Marco."
I walk to where it's not to deep and reply. "Polo."
Shawn looks around with a confused look on his face. "Lexie, are you still here?"
"Duh," I laugh. "You wouldn't be hearing me if I wasn't here."
"No, I mean are you still in the pool?" he questions me.
"I don't know, am I?" I smirk.
Shawn opens his eyes and then sees me.
"Lexie!" he whines. "You cheated!"
"I didn't cheat," I shrug. "I just adjusted the rules."
"Whatever," he chuckles. "It's your turn."
"Okay," I agree while canon balling back into the pool. When I come back up to the surface, I close my eyes, spin around, and start counting.
When I'm finally done, I yell "Marco!" and then there's no response. I try again. "Marco!"
I open my eyes and look around- nobody's here. But then I look out of the clear door and see Shawn standing there and making a weird face at me.
Laughing, I get out of the pool and quickly dry myself with my towel and grab my phone before running out the door. Shawn isn't there any more, though.
I look around and then hear my phone go off. I grab my phone and look down at it.
Shawn: Polo
Lexie: You're so weird :p where are you?
Shawn: You're the one looking for my location. I'm the weird one?
Lexie: You're the one who ran away from our game of Marco Polo. At least give me a hint of where to find you at?
Shawn: Fine. You're pretty close.
Lexie: Alright
I start looking around and then I see a really tall plant by the lobby. Shawn could be hiding there! I smirk while walking over to the plant. Then I pull the leafs back and yell "FOUND YOU!"
Surprisingly, Shawn's not there. The lady sitting at the front desk gives me a weird look.
"Sorry. I'm just having my daily dose of talking to plants," I explain to her before casually walking out of the room.
My phone goes off again as I get another message from Shawn.
Shawn: Okay, that was really funny. The lady gave you a really weird look
Lexie: UgH, where are you!
Shawn: I'm not telling you. You just have to find me!
Lexie: You are so mean
Shawn: But you love me
Lexie: Maybe just a little
I continue to look around and then I see someone walk into the elevator. I gasp and sprint forward. "SHAWN!"
The person turns around and I quickly realize that that is an old man, not Shawn.
"Oh," I frown. "Sorry about that."
I turn around and go into the lobby and text Shawn.
Lexie: this is the second time I've embarrassed myself in the past five minutes -_-
Shawn: okay okay, I'll come out in a minute
I exit out of my text messages and get on Twitter. A few seconds later, I feel someone wrap their arms around my waist and hug me from behind. "Did you find me yet?"
"I don't know," I giggle. "Did I?"
Shawn chuckles and then let's go of me so I can turn around. "Where were you?"
"I was around the corner," he explains.
"Ugh," I groan. "How did I not see you?"
"I don't know, you tell me," he laughs.
After he says that, Charles and Angela walk into the room.
"Why are you still in your swim suits?" Charles asks. Shawn and I look at each other and then start laughing.
"Um, okay?" Angela laughs nervously. "Anyway, we're getting ready to leave. Pack up your bags and then meet back down here."
I race up to my room and quickly take a shower to get the chlorine off of me. Then I change into fuzzy pajamas brush my hair, and pack my stuff up.
I head down stairs and as soon as I step into the lobby, I see half a truck in the hotel.
"WHY DID A CAR DECIDE TO PARK IN HERE?" I gasp.
"Lexie, it's so we can put our luggage in it," Shawn laughs. "That's what that door is for because some people have more luggage than others."
"Oh," I blush. "I totally knew that."
"Here," Shawn smiles politely while taking my bag from me. "We're suppose to go and put our stuff in the tour bus. There is a trunk for some stuff, but we're suppose to put ours inside by where our beds are."
"Alright," I nod as we exit the hotel and go into the tour bus.
We enter the bus and my jaw drops. "This is so cool!" I look around and the bus is just like how Angela and Charles explained it. There's a room with a giant TV and a bunch of video games. And of course there's couches to sit on while watching TV. Then there's a small kitchen with some food in it, the beds, and a bathroom.
"I CAN MARK LIVING IN A BUS OFF OF MY BUCKET LIST!" I cheer.
"Why did you want to live in a bus?" Shawn laughs.
"I don't know," I shrug. "I guess I just thought it would be cool."
I take my bag from Shawn and place it next to my bed, which is really more like a small cubby hole. Then I lay down in my bed.
"I'm tired," I explain while yawning. "I know it's only ten o'clock, but I'm still tired. I think I'm going to go to bed."
"Yeah, I'm probably going to do the same thing," he agrees while laying down in his bed. "I think someone will be driving the bus for most of the night, but they'll probably stop and get some rest too."
"Alright," I nod. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Lexie."

I wake up panting and sweating. Another nightmare. I'm keep on having these horrible reoccurring nightmares.
I get out of bed and walk into the kitchen to drink a glass of water. I drink the water at the kitchen table while scrolling through my Instagram.
I like one of Matt's pictures and sigh. I really miss him and all of the guys- I just want to go back and see them all. Matt always made me smile and laugh.
I put my cup in the sink and then go back to my bed, hoping to be able to go back to sleep.
I keep tossing and turning. Why can't I go back to sleep? After a while, I give up. I really just need to talk to somebody.
I quietly get back up and walk over to where Shawn is sleeping.
"Shawn," I whisper while lightly shaking his shoulder. He moves around, but curls back up with his blanket. "Shawn."
He rolls over so he's facing me. "Mhm," he mutters without even opening his eyes.
"I had a nightmare," I frown.
"I'm sorry," he mumbles. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"Kind of," I sigh.
"Alright," he agrees while rubbing his eyes and sitting up. "Do you need some fresh air? Do you want to go outside?"
"Yeah," I tell him.
"Hold on," he mumbled while throwing a sweat shirt on. I walk over to my bag and do the same thing. "Ready?"
I nod and then we walk outside together, into the cool, fresh air.
Shawn sits down on the curb and pats besides him. I sit down and sigh.
"I'm sorry for waking you up," I apologize. "I just needed to talk about it and kind of get my mind off of it."
"It's okay," he promises me. "Do you want to tell me about your dream?"
"Yeah," I nod. "I was in a big crowd, I think there was some sort of carnival going on. And then I looked around and everyone looked like Nate. It was horrifying. I started to have a panic attack and so I tried to get out of there. Everyone's faces went back to normal, but I still wanted to get out of there. Then the actual Nate showed up in front of me and kept shoving me and threatening me. Shawn, it was so scary. And I couldn't do anything. I felt so weak and I couldn't leave and get out."
"It's okay," Shawn assures while wrapping his arms around me and hugging me. "It was just a dream, it's not real."
"It felt so real though," I shake my head while pulling away. "His shouting was so close and loud."
"Everything's okay," he promises while pulling me into his arms again. "Nate won't ever bother you as long as I'm around."
"I don't know why, but this has been a reoccurring dream. I've had this nightmare a few times this week," I groan.
"Are you still scared of Nate?" he asks while holding onto my hand to give me more support.
"A little," I frown. "I don't want to be. I really don't. But I am, and I don't know how to stop. He's just been like my bully all these years."
"Just forget about him," Shawn suggests. "He doesn't deserve to be on your mind."
"Thanks, Shawn," I smile while snuggling into his arms.
"No problem," he smiles back. "So, did you see the stars?"
I look up and see billions of bright stars in the sky. "Wow, it's beautiful."
"That one's our star," Shawn explains while pointing to a bright, big star.
"Why did you choose that one?" I giggle.
"Well, first of all, it's really bright. And you're really bright too. You're super smart. Secondly, it's my favorite star out of them all," he grins. "I don't know, it just seems different than the other stars."
I smile up at the sky while looking for constellations, with Shawn's help.
"Are you ready to go back inside?" Shawn asks after awhile. "It's three o'clock in the morning."
"Okay," I agree. He grabs my hand and helps me up. "Thanks again," I tell him and then give him a big hug.
"It's fine," he laughs. He kisses the top of my head and then lets go. "I'll see you tomorrow morning."
"Duh," I roll my eyes. "It's not like we're stuck on the same bus together or anything."
"Psh, I know," he laughs.
I get back in bed and smile. Somehow Shawn can always make me feel safe.
