Campfire stories and... People getting lost!?!
I stare into the burning flames in front of me, holding my towel tight against my skin. After we finished swimming, we started a little bonfire.
"Let's tell scary stories," Shawn smirks.
"No, no, no," I beg. "You know how much I hate scary things."
"Please, Lex?" he asks, sticking his lip out.
"No, I'm going to be scared the rest of the night," I cry out.
"Come here," he insists, patting the seat next to him.
I walk over to him and he surprisingly wraps his arm around me. He must have forgotten about what happened.
After a few moments, he tightens up and I can tell he remembered. He quickly pulls his arm away and then looks into the fire, not saying anything, just slightly biting his lip.
"Can I tell the first story!?" Sam questions us.
"Sure!" Lox agrees.
"Okay so once upon a time, there was a group of four kids," he smirks. "One of them was asked to go and take the trash out, so he did. Well we all think. After that, they couldn't find him. Then later that night another one of the kids went outside to go and try to find their phone. If they ever found it, we don't know. Because he ended up never being found. Now only two of the four kids were left. Knock, knock, knock. They could tell that the noise was coming from the attic. Being the curious kids they were, they went upstairs to check to see what was going on. Each step they took, the louder the noise got. Eventually they were at the door. One of them touched the door knob and the door flew open. What they saw was unbelievable, they saw the unexpected. They saw-"
"DON'T SAY IT!" I shriek while pulling my hands up to cover my ears.
"Lexie," Shawn laughs,"it's just a story."
"Sorry, I'm not listening to your lies," I snap while letting my hands fall to my side.
"May I continue?" Sam asks. Everyone nods, except for me. "They saw ghosts. Not just one, but two. Their two friend's ghosts."
I start screaming like a maniac, causing everyone to laugh. "What happened to them!?"
"No one knows, their bodies remain unfound. The only reason why people know they are dead is because they saw their ghosts," Sam explains.
"Is that a true story?" I gawk.
"Yep," he smirks. Before he can say anything else, I start screaming and run inside, soon followed by Anthony, Trevor, and Kian.
"Holy crap," I mumble. "That is a terrifying story."
"Not really," Anthony shrugs. "It was just a story. You know it's not real, right?"
"I guess," I shrug. "Hey, let's watch Sponge Bob." (A/N Fun Fact: my mom won't let me watch this because apparently it rots your brain😂🙌 )
"How about we make food instead," Trevor corrects me before walking to the kitchen.
"FOOD!" Anthony screams before sprinting after Trevor.
I roll my eyes and then walk with Kian to the kitchen.
"How did you guys manage to already trash the kitchen?" I gasp. There is already food and flour everywhere. "What are you guys trying to make?"
"A sandwich."
"You're kidding me," I frown. I just don't understand how they can make such a mess while trying to make a sandwich. "How do you even manage to-You know what, let's just order pizza."
"YAS!" Anthony screams before falling to the ground and doing his strange little check-mating dance.
"One second, I'm going to go and ask Cameron what I should get," I explain before walking outside.
"Hey, Lexie," Cameron smiles.
"Hey, we're ordering pizza. What should we get?" I ask.
"Um. Just get a few pepperoni pizzas and maybe one cheese pizza," he answers. "Oh! And get some of the good breadsticks."
"Okay, but this is coming out of your wallet," I shout over my shoulder before running outside.
"Hey, Kian, do you know the number for Pizza Hut?" I question him.
"Yeah, give me the phone," he instructs. "I know this number by heart."
After he finished ordering, we all go back to the fire. I sit between Jack J and Matt.
"What should we do while we wait for the pizza to arrive?" JC asks.
"We should go penny boarding," Taylor suggests.
"In the woods?" I ask.
"Heck yeah!" Aaron cheers. "There's a sidewalk for going on hikes, right? We can just penny board on the sidewalk."
"Okay!" Nash agrees, his big blue eyes filled with excitement.
"Wait, Anthony, did you bring your penny board from Boston?" I ask. I know that the others have there's because they live here in California.
"Heck yeah!" he answers.
"Yay! Then let's go now," I smile before running to the garage. Everyone grabs their penny board and then we start running to the woods.
When we make it to the sidewalk, we start riding.
"What if the pizza person gets there before we're back?" Sam asks.
"Then we'll get cold pizza," Lox laughs. "But oh well, we have a microwave for a reason."
After penny boarding for a while, Conner stops abruptly.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"What's that?" he questions me while point up in a tree. I look up and see my tree house.
"It's the tree house that Jack and Jack helped me build," I smile.
I jump off of my penny board and start to attempt to climb the tree. Jack J chuckles and then walks over to me and gives me a boost, helping me up. I then climb the tree and sit up in the fort. "Come on!"
"Is there too many people?" Lauren asks. "Will it break the fort?"
"No," I laugh. "It'll be fine."
Shawn climbs up first. I grab his hand and help pull him up. Then everyone else comes in.
"Anyone want a soda?" Jack G smirks while grabbing a soda from the cooler that we keep in here.
"Dude, this place is dope," Taylor gawks while taking the soda from him. "You guys seriously made this yourselves?"
"Yep," I smile proudly. "And it was made in less than twenty-four hours."
After a while of just hanging out, I grab my phone out of my pocket. "Crap!" It's been an hour since we ordered the pizza!
"What's wrong?" Trevor asks.
"Guys we have to go back. The pizza man is probably there," I giggle.
"Wait, that's genderism," Lauren frowns.
"What?" I question her, raising an eyebrow.
"Genderism. What if it's a pizza woman and not a pizza man?" she snaps.
"Then I'd be wrong... But anyways, let's go back home! What if the pizza man, or woman ,leaves because no one is there?" I ask.
I start climbing down from the tree house and then I get back onto my penny board. When everyone is back on the ground, we start riding back home.
By the time we get there, there's a woman awkwardly standing on our porch with a stack of pizza boxes in her hands.
"See, I told you! It is a woman!" Lauren smirks.
I run over to the woman, receiving a dirty look from her. "Are you Lexie Madison?"
"Yes. I'm so sorry we were late, we were in the woods and we lost track of time," I apologize.
"Whatever, here's your food, where's my money?" she snaps while practically throwing the pizza at me.
"Cam, pay her," I demand. He pays here and then she turns around on her heel and then marches back to her car.
"Gosh she was so kind," Anthony says sarcastically.
"I know right!" Cameron pouts. "And I paid her!"
"Whatever, let's go eat!" I laugh before running inside.
After we finish eating, almost everyone goes back outside, but Anthony, Trevor, Kian, and I stay inside.
Before Cameron goes outside he walks over to us. "Hey can one of you go and take the trash out? It's full."
"Sure, I'll do it," Trevor offers. He walks into the kitchen then a door slams, signaling that he went outside.
A few minutes later, he still wasn't back. "Why isn't Trev back?"
"I don't know," Kian shrugs. "But I can't find my phone. I need to go and try to find it; I'll look for him while I look for it."
Anthony and I look at each other and gasp. The story.
"It was just a story," he reminds me. "It's probably just a coincidence."
"You're right," I sigh. "Let's just wait here."
Five minutes later, Trevor and Kian were still missing.
"Okay, I'm getting scared now..." I say frantically.
"Let's go look for them-"
"HECK NO!" I yell. "We're both staying right here until they're back. Okay?"
"Fine," he sighs. "But they aren't-"
Anthony gets cut off by a thumping sound. I jump really high and then I grab his arm.
"W-what was that?" I stutter.
"It was probably just the guys. They are always pulling pranks in this house right? This is probably one big joke," he tries to explain.
"Do you think the noise is coming from the-"
"-attic?" Anthony asks, finishing my sentence.
A few seconds later we hear the noise again.
"Should we go look?" he asks
"I don't want to," I pout. "But we probably should."
I get up and grab Anthony's arm. We walk upstairs, the noise getting louder with each step. I start freaking out by the time we get to the attack door.
"What if the story is real?" I blurt out. "What if-"
"On three we're opening the door," Anthony decides, cutting me off. "One, two, three."
On three we pull the door open and then I scream as something jumps out at me. I fall to the ground covering my head.
Then I hear laughing. I look up and see everyone, including Kian and Trevor, in the attack laughing at Anthony and I.
"You're kidding me!" I cry out. "You guys know how much scary stories freak me out. And then you play a scary prank on me!?"
I turn around but Shawn grabs my hand and pulls me back into the room. "I'm sorry," he laughs slightly. "It was a joke- We didn't mean to scare you that badly."
"Whatever," I mumble.
"Anthony!" Matt laughs. "You're so pale!" I look over and he is indeed, very, very pale.
"We got you guys good," Jack J laughs. "But I'm sorry."
"Ugh," I start to laugh. "You guys are so annoying. But I love you all anyways."
