CHAPTER 24

"Oi! You good for nothing bastards!" I yelled at the bandits who stopped whatever they were doing. The carriage had broken wheels, which made the carriage land sideways. The two knights and the coach man lay on the floor heavily bruised.

"Eh? What do you want, lady? Wanna play?" one of the bandits said, oblivious to the spell circle floating over their heads.

"Why are you attacking this carriage?" I asked as I walked towards them.

"This is our territory, we attack those who pass without permission!" another one yelled back snarling at me.

"Your territory, you say?" I asked. "I don't remember the Empress giving some group of idiot bandits any territory much less a land."

"Wha- ahh!" The bandits yelled as black hands came out of my spell circle and grabbed them, beating them up in the process and then tying them up all together with close long rope.

"Tsk," I glared at them as I walked past them.

"You- you are a magician-" one of them muttered, as I looked at them trying to decide if i should be mad or be dumbfounded.

"I have been standing there with a spell circle ever since I stepped from the carriage! And literally used magic on you all!" I sighed. "Isn't it too late to realise I am a magician?"

I looked at my coach man as if to say 'are bandits always this dumb' to which he laughed.

I walked towards the fallen carriage, and used the levitating spell to lift the carriage and have it stand straight, and yes I was careful enough not to crush any of the knights of the coach man.

I opened the carriage door, expecting a dumb brat of some lord, but inside was a beautiful lady, around my age, porcelain skin which shined under the sun, pale blue eyes which turned slightly grey as the sunlight hit them. Long blond hair with some natural light brown highlights that framed her soft face perfectly.

The beautiful lady inside, stared back at me with curious and pained eyes and she held her head with one hand and balanced herself with another.

She was wearing a light blue off shoulder, heart neckline dress with dark blue floral print and sleeves which reached her mid arm length which acted more as a glove as it wasn't connected with the dress. Her white cloak was on the carriage floor, probably falling over when the bandits attacked.

"Miss?" I softly called for her with a smile as I entered the carriage with a smile. The lady looked at me a bit shocked but accepted my hand regardless. My reputation was still causing handers here and there but I put it behind me as I picked up the cloak and draped it over her shoulders as I helped her out of the carriage.

The knights and the coach man who were laying on the ground not long ago were now sitting upright thanks to my coach man, the bandits were still on the side tied up.

"Ah...milady-" the beautiful lady called out with the softest voice, it wasn't over a whisper.

"Yes? Does it hurt anywhere?" I let go of her, allowing her to stand on her own. What surprised me more as the lady bowed to me instead. Not the normal curtsy we usually do, but the 90 degree bow. I panicked!

"Miss! What are you doing!" I panicked as I rushed towards her.

"Thank you so much for helping out someone like me, Lady Evanora." The lady stayed in the bow as I panicked. "Words alone can't describe how grateful I am for the lady's help and how honoured I am to be standing before lady Evanora, thank you so much!"

"Miss, please stand up." I said and thankfully, the lady accepted my plea.

"There is no need to thank me, it's my duty to help and it's also my duty as a magician who works under the Empress to stand against crime." I smiled at the lady.

"Are you hurt anywhere?" I asked, remembering earlier she held her head.

"Oh no, I am alright, but..." she trailed off, staring at her knights and coach man.

I let out a small sigh as I walked towards them, a small spell circle glowed over my palm which glowed brighter and shined light over them. They gasped and gawked as their pain slowly eased but the injury didn't erase.

"It's temporary." I said as I glared down at them. "I am no healer so I didn't do any major healing spells, I suggest to get rest and tend the injuries before the spell wears off."

I turned back to the lady and smiled, "Will that be alright?"

The lady panicked as redness crawled up her neck to her ears as she waved her hands in front of her face and said, "That's more than enough, lady Evanora, thank you!"

"Your welcome, lady..." I trailed off as I realised once again I didn't ask the lady for her name. "I am sorry, I haven't asked for your name yet."

"If we met before, I am also sorry as my amnesia took away all my past memories." I passed her an apologetic smile.

"Oh no! It's alright, I have heard about the lady's condition." she smiled at me softly. "I am glad lady Evanora is alright now."

"We actually never met before, but I always saw and watched you from afar at the balls and events." she laughed a little. "I would be dumb to not recognize lady Evanora, such mesmerising eyes."

I felt my face heat up a little, I thought I got used to people complimenting me and telling me I looked pretty, but it was the first time someone directly complimented my eyes like this, in six months.

"Thank you so much for your kind words." I said with a smile as I ducked my head a little as I scratched the back of my ear due to the compliments.

"You're welcome," she smiled at me.

"I formally introduce myself to lady Esmeray," she curtsy at me as I stood up straight. "I am Lethia Dusan, from the house of Count Dusan."

"Please raise Lady Lethia." I smiled at her as it clicked that I knew the Dusan family.

"Ah! Right, I believe your brother Sir Perseus Dusan is the current aid of my father." I said to which Lethia nodded.

"Yes, he is my second older brother, we Dusan family, are a branch to the Duchy." she said to which I nodded.

"Yes, I remember." I smiled at her. "It's really nice getting to know the grumpy Sir Perseus has a wonderful sister."

"Oh yes, he can be pretty grumpy at times." Lethia said.

"Milady," my coach man called as I remembered I had somewhere to be, but I couldn't just leave Leathia stranded in the middle of the road with a broken carriage.

"Ah..." I looked around for a bit before I turned back to lady Lethia, "Lady Lethia?"

"Yes, Lady Evanora?" Lethia smiled back at me.

"I plan to go to the town centre and after that I will teleport to visit a friend, would it be okay if Lady Lethia accompanied me?" I asked. "I don't want to leave Lady Lethia here alone, so after my coach man drops me off, I can send Lady Lethia home with my carriage."

"Oh my! Lady Evanora, you don't have to!" Lethia tried to explain how she was alright and would just send someone to fetch a new carriage from town centre.

"Please Lady Lethia, I insist." I said.

"Well..." Lethia smiled. "I am really glad and thankful for the lady's offer."

"Thank you for accepting," I smiled as I turned to Lethia's knights. "Make sure these thugs are handed over to the town knights."

"Let's go." I led Lethia to the carriage and helped her in before I went in myself and departed on my journey once again.

The carriage ride with Lethia ended in a comfortable silence. Majority of the time, Lethia just looked out the carriage window, which I just sat in silence. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable anyhow after I asked her to join me on the carriage.

The carriage stopped in front of the stop, The Black Sun. After tomorrow, in the place of the shop will be an ordinary building, that's because a disguise and teleportable spell is used here. A disguise spell to make the ordinary building look like a luxurious shop building of The Black Sun and the teleportable spell make us enter the actual shop when we actually open the door of the ordinary building.

Many times, I have tried to decode the coordinates of the teleportation spell, but I failed. I suspect that he might be specialised in teleportation. I got out of the carriage as Lethia got down after me and stared at the shop with wide eyes. I smiled at Lethia as she soaked in the details of the shop.

"This is a beautiful shop," she said. "I have heard about The Black Sun so much, it's only exclusive to magicians, no?"

I smiled at Lethia's enthusiasm, as the sudden idea of inviting Lethia to come with me inside the shop popped in my head.

"Would you like to come with me?" I asked as I pointed at the black wooden door of the shop.

"Can I?" Lethia stared at me with wide eyes as she pointed at herself. "I am not a magician."

"It's fine, you can come with me." I giggled. "I am a magician and I have membership, I can bring anyone with me as plus one."

"Come on!" I extended my hand to Lethia, which Lethia took and with a smile I dragged her inside the shop of The Black Sun.
