Chapter 10- Understanding
"DON'T YOU HAVE A HEART?!!" I screamed at him.
"I am an insect human, so yes, I have a heart," he stated plainly, and I screamed in frustration.
I wanted to get him to understand, but...
There was no way to get him to understand.
Me and them- Meete and Techrot- have different worlds. We see different things.
While I see an innocent creature- a butterfly-, Meete sees a friend, and Techrot sees a horror.
Just a simple thing we see so differently.
I'll never understand their world.
I'll never understand Techrot's reasoning for being Meete's friend, or his reasoning for hating Mekrot.
I will never understand these two.
And I need to come to that fact; I need to accept it.
But I just can't wrap my head around it...!
What is the difference between me and them? How is it so big that our worlds can't even be compared?
Meete's bright and funny and... I can't even comprehend it! I can't imagine what crazy things are in Meete's head!
And Techrot, boy! How many EQUATIONS go through HIS head in one day?! How many giant words are in that head of his? How many languages? How many situations, ideas, whatever?
But they can't understand MINE either, I realized. Techrot can't understand why we humans do what we do. He thinks it's stupid.
And Meete's too stupid to imagine my world. He's too stupid to care.
I can't understand them.... I never will....
Unless...
"... Look, Techrot, Meete, we need to... to be open to each other... if we're to understand each other."
As much as I don't want to... understand the reason he gave up Meete's little brother for Meete himself.
Techrot scoffed, "As if I need to understand your stupidity."
"Wha-"
"Come on, Meete, let's go," Techrot held Meete's arm.
"... Th- MEETE DOESN'T EVEN UNDERSTAND!! DON'T YOU CARE ENOUGH TO PROTECT HIM?!!"
"I do."
"Bu-"
"I only care about Meete and myself, and that's enough for me."
"Wha- but- if- If you really do care, why are you upsetting Meete?!"
"I'm not."
"You're giving up Meete's brother just for your own selfish reasons!! Just so that Meete can walk free!!"
"Lotten did eat the babies, so it's natural to-"
"Don't give me that cr**!!" I roared, and Techrot narrowed his eyes. "You should at least defend Lotten!!"
"And do what?! There is no one stupid enough to eat baby bees besides Meete and Lotten!! What, was I supposed to tell them that the babies might've disappeared in thin air?!! It doesn't make sense!! You are a PARASITE to Meete!! You stupid brat!! Come on, Meete, we're not going to spend any more time with this stupid human. I'm sorry, but we can't go to school anymore."
"Ehhh?!!" Meete exclaimed in worry.
"We better never see you again, human."
"Wha- but-"
"Come on, Meete," Techrot dragged Meete out.
"... But..."
"Well, well, it seems humans ARE quite stupid."
"Eh?" I looked at the bee queen.
"Cussing in front of Meete, tsk, tsk, tsk," she shook her head. "Do you really want to spend more time with those two? Because it seems like you were trying to drive them away. If there's anything Techrot hates most, it's when people make Meete stupider or not innocent. And cussing is in the non-innocent category."
"..."
All that because I cussed?
"He might've forgiven you if you hadn't cussed. It might've gone well. Leeon, take her back to her home," she waved me off.
"Yes, Your Majesty," he bowed and walked to me.
"Hold on. Techrot!!" I ran off towards the entrance/exit and heard the queen sigh.
"Apologies aren't excepted by him!!" she advised, but I ignored it.
I'll do anything to make up with them. I want to understand them.
I want them by my side. I want to know their worlds.
Meete... Techrot...
Please, let me understand you. And you can understand me.
Let's enter each other's minds. I want to learn more about you, and I want you to understand me.
Meete... Techrot...
I'm not taking no for an answer. I WILL learn about you. You may put a fence around your minds, Techrot, but you can't hide Meete, and I will open the fence.
You can't protect him forever, Techrot. You need to learn to like others.
And I need to learn to open myself as well. Just because it seems bad at first, there can be a reason.
And Meete (obviously) needs to learn more about the world. Maybe together, we can teach him.
We all need to learn things, and I think, together, we can.
Smart, average, and dumb. That's what we are. Smart and dumb only clash; nothing would result from such a thing. Average and smart will clash as well because they aren't exposed to the innocence of the dumb one. Dumb and average also won't work because the average will be frustrated.
That's why we need each other.
