Epilogue
It is a tale that the citizens of Rollinsville—and the kingdom at large—would tell for generations to come. How a giant black octopus with crystalline blue eyes rose out of the sea like a vengeful avatar of the Grey God and snatched the evil sea witch of Farbarrow in its tentacles, dragging her to her doom in the depths of the ocean. They marveled at the bravery of the little mermaid who battled the sea witch and saved her love—the duke's grandson. They pitied the viscount, who, under the sea witch's spell, leaped from the balcony to his own death.
His body was never found.
The black island off the coast sank at the same time as the sea witch perished and the fish and lobsters made a miraculous return. The citizens rejoiced and praised the Grey God for delivering them from her terrible clutches.
And the little mermaid and her love lived happily ever after.
... But that is the tale they tell.
No one knows how true it actually is.
No one, but the sea witch and her viscount.
