The Point of No Return

This one's a little short folks, sorry. I'm just so sad that this is ending and I have a major headache and really want to play some Skyrim...

#Useless Information!

Anyhow, the next chapter should hopefully be done soon. And in this chapter I didn't want to go through the entirety of The Point of No Return because I already did in the last chapter, so there's gonna be some weird stuff in there. Just go with, it makes sense with the story...I hope.

I don't own POTO.

Kat's POV

        "You can do this. It's only a few hundred people, just imagine them in their underclothes or something." Meg said in an effort to calm me down.

        I was going to be on-stage in less than five minutes, yet here I am, backstage, having a panic attack. It wouldn't be such a big deal if people dying, because of me, wasn't a possible outcome.

        "Meg!" Christine shunned the poor girl. "That's an awful thing to think of."

        "Well what do you think she should do?" Meg crossed her arms and squared her shoulders.

        "Guys! Must you start this right now?" I said a little louder than needed.

        My head was throbbing and my heart was about to jump from my throat. The last I need right now is to listen to their arguing.

        "Miss Daae, you're on." A voice hollered from somewhere behind us.

        "Wonderful." I muttered as I stood from the stool I'd been perched on.

        I straightened out my dress and pulled the sleeves up for the thousandth time. My hands were shaking as I grabbed my props and stumbled on stage. Christine and Meg were somewhat whispering from the side of the stage, wishing me good luck. I heard Madame Giry hush them as I began my lines.

        "No thoughts within her head but thoughts of joy

        No dreams withing her heart but dreams of love."

        My bare feet came to a stop as I finished. I knelt down and began to play with the roses that rested in the small basket I'd been carrying.

        "Master."

        The man playing Passarino sang out from behind me.

        "Passarino, go away for the trap it is set and waits for it's prey."

        When I heard Erik's voice I tried my best to not turn and look. I subconsciously looked up to box five, where Raoul sat on the edge of his seat.

        I turned to my left where Christine and Meg stood, watching nervously. My eyes soon began tracing to audience until I found Damien, Ezra, and her. Our eyes locked and a strange feeling came over me. It was almost as if I couldn't control my own actions as I stood, leaving the flowers behind.

        "You have come here

         In pursuit of your deepest urge"

        Erik sang as I continued to stare at my mother. I tried to look away, but I couldn't. My mind clouded over and my body went limp. I was still standing, but not by my own command. I was like a puppet, her puppet.

        "In pursuit of that wish which till now

         Has been silent

         Silent."

        I turned to face him as he sang the last word. Then, whether it was out of fear or something else far beyond my level of understanding, everything in my world went black.

        Not metaphorically, or literally for that matter. I couldn't see, I couldn't hear or feel. It was like the feeling you have while dreaming, everything was blurred and fuzzy. Nothing made sense.

        Time seemed to slow down as the void continued to stretch on. Seconds turned to minutes, then everything came flooding back.

        I looked around frantically to see that I was no longer on the stage itself, but was now standing on the large platform that stood just below the ceiling. My eyes trailed down to the ground below and the numerous shocked faces.

        I tried to move but was locked into place by Erik's arms. He was singing something in my ear, something sweet and lovely and completely unscripted.

        "Say you'll share with me

         One love, one lifetime

         Lead me, save me from my solitude"

        His grip loosened, allowing me to slowly turn and face him. He looked sad as he poured his heart out.

        "Say you want me

         With you here

         Beside you

         Anywhere you go

         Let me go too"

        I was so confused and flustered as I stared into his eyes. What is going on? This wasn't in the script, none of this was. My heart ached as my anxiety began to build up.

         "Kat that's all I ask of…"

        Erik's words were cut off as a knife came down just inches from our feet and cut a rope. We both jumped back and spun around to see Ezra standing behind us. He held a small blade and had tears rolling down his cheeks. His eyes were murky and clouded over. It was almost as if he wasn't in control.

        I began to wonder if he was experiencing the same thing I had just minutes ago.

        Erik grabbed my wrist and pulled me to where a small lever was placed. I turned to look out at the audience one last time. My eyes widened at what I saw.

        Every member of the crowd was running around frantically. The rope Ezra cut must have released the chandelier, because it now rested on the velvet seats below us. The area surrounding it was on fire along with a few people who'd been sitting close to where it landed.

        I closed my eyes and held tight to Erik's waist. He quickly kicked the lever and we were sent flying downward. The last thing I heard from the world above were screams of pain and terror.

                                                                                      ~~~~
        It felt like hours had passed before we were back in Erik's lair. We entered from a passage I didn't know existed and found Damien and Christine waiting for us.
        "What the hell just happened?" Damien yelled angrily at Erik.
        "Your brother cut the damn rope!" Erik hollered back.
        Damien looked over us both in shock. "He...what? Jesus she made him do it!"
        "That's absurd. How could anyone have forced him to do such a thing?" Christine rushed up beside him.
        "It doesn't matter how, all that matters is why." Damien's eyes found mine as he spoke.
        My whole body felt like it was shaking but I was standing still. I knew why, it was obvious.
        "She knew what we were planning, this whole thing is her way of insuring none of this works in our favor." I said, my eyes never leaving my brother's.
        "She's going to kill us then. All of us. Isn't she?" Christine's voice was shaky.
        I turned away from them all and looked over the room. My mind ran circles as I searched for anything that appeared out of place. I found myself looking at the same spot for minutes when I realized something. The mirror, her mirror, was missing.
        "Of course." My lips barely formed the words as I stared at the wall the cursed thing had rested on.
        I could feel everyone's eyes fall on me.
        "What are you talking about?" Erik asked.
        "It's gone." Damien said in sudden realization. "The mirror, she took it."
        "Where would she have gone with it?" Christine asked once she too figured out what was happening.
        Damien walked over to me and forced me to face him. "She wouldn't have left this building, right? She is still here."
        I nodded slowly as everything clicked. The last piece of this horrid puzzle was me. It had always been about me.
        "The roof." I heard myself speaking as I stared blankly at Damien.
Does anyone know if there is a way to like share a story with someone on here, so you could both write it? Or is that not possible?
