Memories Of The Past

Shouto watched as the number one hero's blood soaked his ice in a dark shade of red. His mouth opened agape as shock took over his senses.

He stabbed All Might on the chest...

The blonde hero hurled with smoke, slowly turning back to his true self; thin and weak. "Young Todoroki, don't repeat your mistakes" he said before coughing up some blood.

"Learn to love and understand yourself...you are strong but your heart is hollow" he continued.

Tears begun to form in Shouto's eyes. "Use your powers to protect young Todoroki, don't give in to the darkness"

All Might slumped down in his own pool of blood with Shouto's melting ice stuck on his chest.

The villain in front of him wore a wicked smile. "I didn't even touch him..." Tomura said, "you killed him yourself... Midoriya is right; your fit to be a villain"

The heroes tried to help the unconscious people and the others heading to capture the leader.

A dark whirlpool appeared on thin air and the villain stepped in, just before Midnight could put him to sleep. But he didn't just leave, he was laughing under his mask and his eyes were mischievous as they stared at Shouto.

Everything was a blur, nothing more than questions and answers. He heard things as calling his father over but he couldn't care less.

Shouto looked down on his hands, now trembling. His mind lingered on the past, back when he was younger and much more innocent.

"Powerful, he has the quirks of you and your wife...squashed together. Though I'd say, he might not control both of it until he reached ten or maybe even fourteen" the doctor said. A four year old Shouto looked surprised and happy. But his father only looked contented but a hint of a little disappointment.

"Ten to fourteen? Why can't he weild both powers younger?"

The doctor looked down on the half and half kid. "Because, he might bring harm to anyone. Controlling two quirks in a small body could take some risks. Not to mention that his body might not handle the power" but Shouto looked determined. Giving his father a wide smile, he will not let his father down.

Just before walking out of the hospital, he saw a green haired boy; his age, with freckles and wide eyes. The boy only stared at the ceiling, no emotion at all.

His father is too busy talking with the doctor, so he decided to chat.

He was curious back then so he sat by the boy, "what is your quirk?" He asked. The green haired boy jolted in surprise, then a smile formed on his lips.

"I am quirkless! Isn't that unique!" The boy said, smile turned to a grin.

Shouto frowned, quirkless? He remembered his father that people who lacks of quirk are cowards and weak that hides under the wings of the heroes.

"Then, you are weak" he said, as a child. The boy looked hurt, "I'm not, I am going to be awesome like villains!"

Shouto didn't understand the boy's logic nor enthusiasm about being quirkless.

Then he felt his father yank him away. "Don't talk to someone like him, didn't you see that the kid just got out from being mentally checked?" His father growled.

That made him frown deeper. Is the kid mentally ill somehow?

"Don't fall in his level Shouto, you have the power and you will climb up to the top. Reach the peak that I wasn't able to climb up to" Shouto nodded as he took his father's large and warm hand as they walked away.

He will make his father proud...

That's what he thought it would turn out. But no, he was trained till he dropped, and isolated from his siblings.

Being a five year old child, treated like a grown up made him feel very distant with the other kids. He felt different and so, with lack of social activities; his emotions were underdeveloped, locking his feelings inside.

One day, his mother was suddenly angry. Maybe she was sick of this house hold and can't take it anymore? Or maybe its him? Shouto was worried, but when he tried to comfort his mother...splash...his left face burned. Hot water had scarred his face for life, his mother's angry face and fearful eyes still filled his head.

"Monster" she had said.

He ran away from home, hands over his face. Tears falling from his eyes, till he reached the forest. He weeped on a nearby tree when someone tapped his shoulder.

Green hair with freckles. He didn't remember but the kid looked oddly familiar. "What happened to you?" The kid asked, a knife on hand.

Shouto backed away in instinct. He knew that people who held knives out of the kitchen are bad people. The green head noticed his alarm and placed the knife back in his pocket. "I'm not going to hurt you, though you looked pretty burned"

Shouto didn't bugde. He kept his hand hovered over his face and he looked down on the grass. "Did someone bully you?" The kid asked but he didn't respond. He was a afraid that his mother might hurt him again.

The green head sighed. "I guess there's no talking with you. I'll just call the police and let them take you home" a shiver run up his spine, no, not in there.

"My mother hated me" he said, ignoring the blood dripping down his small jaw. "Let's go to my house, I have a very good mom" the kid said with a smile.

Shouto didn't know why, but he agreed.

They entered the small house. Compared to their house, this was nothing.

He remembered a young woman treating his wounds and making them snacks and then watching some hero-villain footage on the internet.

"I love villains, they are awesome and cool" the green head said as they watched.

"I prefer heroes" Shouto said, the kid pouted. "Always heroes, saving the day. They are just a bunch of people trying to stop bad people, but they don't kill and punish...they are boring" the kid commented as he spun the computer chair where they sat together.

Shouto looked around the room. It was bare and the walls are full of scratched marks. Then he noticed the set of knives on the table, then the pile of notebooks on the other edge.

"Why do you love villains so much when they are always on the losing side?" He asked, more curious.

The kid paused the video. "Just as the heroes do, they are trying to persue their dreams. They are always trying to do their best, planning, criticizing, advancing...then at the latter part, heroes; who do nothing but wait, destroyed their dreams they had worked very hard to do. Its just seem so unfair for me" the words rolled in his small mind, turning the gears in his head.

"And one thing I liked about them is how free they looked. They do the things they want without people correcting them and they express their emotions more through actions."

The word free sounds so great for Shouto. Is it because he is locked up? Or was it because he was trapped inside?

Soon enough, they called the police to take him home. As he entered his siblings were worried while his parents argue, didn't even care if he was home or not.

Emotions through actions.

That's when Shouto first felt rage. He screamed at his mother and father as frost freezed the whole living room except for his father, who stood warm and blazing; awed by his little performance.

But that little performance isn't tolerated by his siblings like their father did. They found him scary, especially when angry.

Shouto liked how his father finally looked at him in appreciation. And so without further undo, he trained and did his best to get that face of satisfaction... But as he got older, he didn't seem to care and he lost the way of how to express his emotions except for releasing it as a surge of power that can freeze a whole building.

Little did he know that his father had a surprise for him as soon as he reached ten...a very bad surprise, that is.
