chapter 10

Imani and the others are still riding through the desert.

They are now about an hour from Upper Egypt and about thirty minutes from Nubia. It was one o clock in the morning and the temperature was about 85 degrees, and the sky was a midnight blue color with millions of stars sparkling. They found a well to give their camels some water and gave them food. They ate and drinked while riding the camel. Kamrah's camel moaned and groaned, Kamrah scratched the head of his camel and told her "We are almost there, hang on".

On their way there, Imani was quiet, but focused and kept looking straight and kept heading north. All she wanted was her country back. Nothing more. The Amara and Kamrah were talking to each other about their memories with Pharaoh Merakhane and Queen Shepsheret.

Ahkmenrah stared at Imani as if he saw a little girl crying.

"Are you okay Imani?", asked Ahkmenrah

Imani just looked at him and nodded. But after two minutes, she finally spoke.

"I just want my country back....."

Ahkmenrah was slient and looked down but responded.

"We will get it back, i promised"

"Okay", Imani responded.

All Ahkmenrah could really do was stare at her and shyly bite his lip.

"She is even more gorgeous when she is serious", Ahkmenrah thought to himself as he stared at her.

Thirty minutes later, they came across Nubia. It looked like a war zone.

*Fires.
*Hundres of dead bodies laying everywhere which made it smell terrible.
*Debris all over the sand(ground).

Imani gaged at the smell and Amara looked away from the scene. Ahkmenrah and Kamrah made faces of disgust and shock. But Ahkmenrah thanked Ra that him and the others made the some of the Nubians who live in Nubia, followed them into Sudan....or they would've stuffered the same fate. Ahkmenrah shed a tear and thought to himself that it is gonna be alot to clean up and fixing once him and the others get their country back.

When they arrived to Upper Egypt, they could see the kingdom in a distance. It was totalled and destroyed. Most of the statues collapsed, but thank Ra some did survive. It was night time, so they couldn't see all of the damage of the Kingdom, for they were about several  hundred feet away.

As they got closer and closer to the Kingdom, they saw even more damage, the Liybans mostly destroyed statues to erase everything great that Egypt has done, which is strange because The Great Pyramids of Giza are still here and good as new. They finished making those pyramids about ten years ago.

Once they reached the Kingdom, they gave their camels some snacks so they can be quiet and not make a sound.

They went around the kingdom and at went towards the backyard of the Palace. (Btw, the Palace is at the end of the Kingdom, the front of the palace is facing the Kingdom and the back is facing well....the desert).

They were on the very left side of the Kingdom and about 60 feet from the backyard.

Just in case there were Liyban guards there, they tied the camels to a tree and look towards the kingdom to make sure no one woke up. Then they tip toed to the side of the palace and leaned against the wall to make sure they weren't seen.

When Kamrah peeked to see if guards were there in the backyard, he didn't see anyone. He blew his breathe in relief.

"What? what is it Kamrah?", Amara whispered

"There are no soliders, the coast is clear"

"That is great, but still remember, we have to be quiet...anything can happen", Imani whispered.

She then looked at the others and put her index finger on her lips and lead the way by tip toeing into the palace backyard.

They peeked through the doors to get a glimpse of what to expect, there were guards 50 feet up the hall, just talking. Not even paying any attention to their surroundings. But their backs were facing Imani and the others.

"I know a little something about guarding and the Liyban guards are just terrible at guarding, jeez", Kamrah whispered as he cringed.

"Shhh", Ahkmenrah said to Kamrah

Imani saw another door that lead to the party room that her birthday festival took place in. It was right between the guards and Imani and the others.

Imani gave the others a signal and they all quickly snuck past the guards and into the party room. It was empty, nothing but chairs and tables. They sprinted to the other side of the party room towards the door and leaned against the wall. They were about to move until they heard footsteps. So they leaned against the wall like stautes and dared to make a sound.

Two guards were walking pass, talking about beans and soup for some reason. Once they were out of sight, Imani turned around to face Ahkmenrah and the others.

"Alright, you lead from here, take us to your room", Imani whispered to Ahkmenrah.

Ahkmenrah nodded and got in front of Imani.

But before they head out, someone grabbed Imani's shoulder. Imani gasped as she quickly turned around. Ahkmenrah, Amara and Kamrah all got out their swords.

"Wait! Wait, dont kill me guys! Imani, it is me, your Uncle Sephem"

Imani took her jet black hood off.

"Uncle?!"

Imani hugged him tightly and started to silently weep.

"Oh Imani, i thought you guys were dead. And even though you have on all black with a black hood on, i could still make out your voice and your facial features", Sephem sadly giggled as while teary eyed and hugging his niece.

Ahkmenrah, Amara and Kamrah put away their swords and looked at Imani's uncle in relief.

"Are you and Aunt Kanora and grandpa okay?!", Imani cried while hugging her uncle.

"Me and Kanora are just misrable, she is with Queen Damyra....but Father Heptomae has died, from a machete. He was too weak to work anymore, so Damyra found him useless and stabbed him through his heart"

Imani collasped and broke down crying, but Sephem quickly pulled her back up.

"You still have a chance to fix this. The fate of Egypt rest in your hands. The Egyptians, some Nubians and the Hebrews are suffering. We are given two very small meals a day, little water and we have the choice to either sleep in the dungeon or outside. The Egyptian's and Hebrew's homes are now inhabited by Libyans, so the Egyptians and Hebrews are now homeless...we are homeless"

"I haven't seen any Egyptians, Nubians or Hebrews sleep outside"

"They usually slept on the right side of the kingdom. Just imagine thousands of people sleeping on sand, with nothing but thin covers. The Egyptians slept near each other, same with the Nubians and the Hebrews.

Kamunrah is Pharoah now, and is married to Damyra", Sephem said with seriousness in his face.

Imani was feeling mixed emotions, she was disgusted, angry and depressed.

Disgusted because Kamunrah and Damyra are married even though Damyra is like 19 and Kamunrah is like 30-35 years old. Angry because her grandfather died in such a violent way, and depressed because of his death in general.

"You guys are our only hope"

"I know uncle, that is why we are here to retrieve something that belongs to Ahkmenrah that is powerful, it can make an army. Me, my friends, the Nubians, Amak and my father Ohept have been hiding in Northern Sudan. We had the coronation and the wedding was resumed. Me and Ahkmenrah are married now and we are the rightful Pharaoh and Queen of Upper Egypt. We need to get the tablet before Kamunrah gets it", Imani explained.

"The tablet? That is what Kamunrah was blabbing about. He was saying that he needed to find Ahkmenrah's tablet to summon an evil army by using this thing he called "The Gate of Kamunrah", he wants to control more countries in Africa and rule the world. So he is literally and currently scrambling all over the palace to find the tablet of Ahkmenrah"

"We need to get to Ahkmenrah's room, so we can retrieve the tablet and get back to Sudan, then once we get our army ready, we will fight along with our army against the Libyans", Amara stated.

"Ahkmenrah's room is down the hall, up the stairs and you go through another hallway and at the end of that hallway to the right, there is his room"

"We know where his room is Uncle Sephem, we just have to get there quickly", Imani said with a blank expression.

"Oh, okay, just promise me you will fix this"

Imani was silent at first, she looked down then looked back up.

"I promise, i will try to fix this mess"

"Okay...i need to get back to work, bye Imani, i love you"

Sephem hugged Imani.

"I love you too Uncle"

Sephem walked away quickly down the hall to get back to work. Imani was still distraught about her grandfather and wondered how is she going to tell her father Ohept about it.

Ahkmenrah and the others hugged Imani.

"Imani, we must keep going, we must get to Ahkmenrah's room", Kamrah whispered with concern in his voice.

Imani nodded.

Imani and the others peeked out of the party room door into the hallway. The coast was clear, so they snuck down the hall and up the stairs the and into another hallway, then at the end of the hall, they saw Ahkmenrah's room.
