Chloe and Lucifer
They were only a month into sixth grade and Michael was already counting down the days until Lucifer was violently murdered.
Not by him, of course, nor the teacher.
But by Chloe.
They had had the misfortune of being in the same class as her this year, and on day one of school, Lucifer had spotted her, and immediately slid into the seat beside her, only for the teacher to announce that where they were sitting would be their permanent seats.
For the entire YEAR.
So Michael was stuck at the little round table with a girl named Abby, and Lucifer and Chloe, who fought NONSTOP. About EVERYTHING.
Well, more accurately, it was that Lucifer flirted shamelessly with Chloe and tried to get her to like him, and Chloe fought him tooth and nail on the smallest details and tried to kill him. They had already been sent to the principal's office four times.
Chuck had tried to deescalate the situation and had told Lucifer to leave Chloe alone. Lucifer disagreed. According to him, Chloe was the most awesome, beautiful girl in the world and he loved her.
According to Chloe, Lucifer was the ugliest, most vile boy on the planet and beyond.
Michael didn't really give a shit what they thought about each other. He just wanted them to quit fighting over all the supplies so that he could properly color coordinate his notes. Abby wanted somebody to get stabbed with the scissors. Their teacher was just too lazy to change one person's seat, so here they were.
"Michael, can I use the glue when you're done?" Chloe asked, pointedly ignoring Lucifer like she had been all day. Lucifer wriggled in his seat. He loved the days when Chloe fought with him, but the days when she went silent and ignored him completely? Those were Satan's personal hell.
"Sure," Michael went to pass her the glue, but Lucifer grabbed it from him. Chloe scowled.
"Lucifer give me the glue," She said. He frowned at her like a sad puppy.
"Why didn't you ask nicely like you did to Mikey?" He asked.
"Because Michael is actually NICE." Satan gasped.
"YOU DON'T LIKE HIM BETTER THAN ME, DO YOU?" He looked horrified, like this was the worst fate ever. Michael rolled his eyes.
"As a matter of fact, I do because he's polite and YOU'RE AN OGRE!"
"MIKEY HOW COULD YOU BETRAY ME LIKE THIS, I THOUGHT WE WERE FAMILY!" Michael buried his face in his hands.
"JUST GIVE ME THE GLUE."
"ASK NICELY."
"NO."
"WHY."
"YOU KNOW WHY!"
"I'll give you the glue if you say please, I promise." Chloe tackled him to the floor, and the other kids immediately started yelling and chanting about a fight as they wrestled on the floor.
Chloe got the glue back quickly, of course, and she pinned Lucifer to the ground and glared at him.
"Why do you have to be so annoying??" She demanded.
"Because I like you," Lucifer said simply. Chloe went red.
"WELL THEN YOU'RE EXTRA STUPID."
"And you're extra pretty!"
"SHUT UP."
"MAKE ME."
"FINE." Chloe kissed him and Abby and Michael grabbed each other and screamed.
And that was how Chloe and Lucifer ended up in the principal's office for the fifth time.
They sat on the bench in the office, waiting to be picked up and avoiding looking at each other. Lucifer had a shit eating grin on his face, like he'd won the jackpot lottery, and Chloe still looked mad.
"You're unusually quiet," she muttered.
"You kissed me," Lucifer practically sang, his grin growing.
"Don't let it go to your head."
"You're a good kisser."
"Wait, that wasn't mean! Did I break you or something?" Lucifer shrugged.
"Or something." They fell silent for a moment.
"...You're not a bad kisser either," Chloe whispered.
"What?" Lucifer asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Nothing."
"Oh no no, I heard you-"
"If you heard me then I don't need to say it again."
"I think you do."
"SHUT UP."
"No!"
"WHY."
"Because we kissed and you liked it and I liked it, SO-"
"SO YOU'RE STILL A JERK."
"I'M ONLY A JERK BECAUSE I LIKE YOU, AND YOU'RE ONLY MEAN TO ME BECAUSE YOU LIKE ME, ADMIT IT." Chloe let out a frustrated groan and Lucifer kissed her.
She slapped him.
"I deserved that," Lucifer said, rubbing his face.
"Yes you did..... But you weren't wrong either, I just don't know what you expect me to do about it." Chloe admitted.
"Well....you could be my girlfriend."
"I'd have to like you to be your girlfriend."
"And?" She thought for a moment.
"I still think you're a jerk ogre."
"That's not an answer."
"Fine."
"Fine?" Chloe sighed.
"FINE, I'LL BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND OR WHATEVER JUST DON'T-" Lucifer screeched and fell to the floor cheering. "-Make a big deal out of it."
"TOO LATE."
"How are you so happy about this?" He smiled at her.
"Cause I've liked you since you hit me in the face with a rock and threatened me on the playground."
"Wasn't that the day we met?"
"Yes it was, and you were wearing a star wars T-shirt and a ponytail with a red hair tie and you literally made me fall for you. Literally. Cause I fell off the jungle gym." She stared at him.
"You remember all that?" She whispered.
"Of course I do, it was the best day of my life."
"Huh."
"Huh what?"
"Nothing, just..." She blushed. "Maybe being your girlfriend will be a good thing."
"I hope so! I want it to be. I'm gonna bring you flowers."
"You don't have to-"
"TOO BAD I'M GONNA, What kind of flowers do you like? Roses? Sunflowers?"
"Daisies." She mumbled.
"Daisies it is!"
Chuck arrived a little while later, and before he could even start the lecture, Lucifer started screaming about his new girlfriend and how he needed to know what daisies looked like and where the hell they could buy them by tomorrow.
*****
Lucifer and Chloe stopped fighting (mostly) after that, and Michael should have been relieved. He wasn't, because now his stupid brother would not shut up about his girlfriend.
Part of him missed the fighting. At least that was entertaining.
