Prologue

"A colorful harmony between two composers"

In a peaceful countryside, the wind blew gently across the plain field as the grass swayed with it as if syncing with its rhythm. At a lone bus stop of one side of the road, an 18-year-old girl was walking while pulling her small luggage behind her. She lifted her head up from the paper she was holding as her other hand gripped on the bag's handle.

"Ah... Is this the right place?" She muttered as she looked around with a lost face. Looking at the paper once more to see if the direction was right, her lips curved into a nervous sight. A sigh escaped her lips as she hid the paper in her pocket. "How the heck am I suppose to find him?"

She sat on a nearby bench that was coincidentally there at the side of the empty road as she sat on it with her bag next to her. She leaned forward and cupped her face with her hands as she let her elbows rest on her knees.

"My name is Fuyumi Takara. Right now, I'm at my best friend's home country because I'll be staying here for a year. The reason why I'm staying here because I'm a music composer and I plan on composing a new song but right now... I'm still thinking on what to compose and I have no idea where to start. Anyways, he invited me over to his grandparent's home since we haven't seen each other since five years ago."

Takara looked around and saw no one at sight. She frowned as she scowled. "That idiot... Where is he?" She mumbled to herself as she straighten herself up and leaned on the bench with her arms crossed up to her chest. She sighed once again and straightened up while putting on her headphones that were just hanging around her neck as she waited. Apparently, her best friend should have been sitting on the bench waiting for her by now. But somehow, he wasn't there right now which made Takara wanting to beat the crap out of him like no tomorrow. She took out her music player and scrolled down on her playlist. Tapping the song she wanted to listen to, she placed back her player in her pocket while humming.

From the distance, a boy, who looked a bit older, was riding on a bike as he closed the gap between him and where Takara was. He stopped in front of Takara as he stared at her with a questioning look.

"Excuse me, miss. Are you waiting for someone?" He spoke up as he blinked at her curiously. Takara looked up to him as she removed her headphones. "You don't look like someone who's from around here."

"Ah, yes..." She said as she stood up and the other getting off his bike while holding onto it with both hands. She continued, "I'm waiting for someone who's suppose to be here by now..."

He beamed and enthusiastically replied, "Really? I'm here to pick someone up but it looks like that someone isn't here yet..."

"Uh-huh..." Takara nodded as she took the time to look at the newcomer from head to toe while he was looking at the distance. He wore a casual attire like he's from the city of some sort and he was definitely tall. His hair was black and his eyes were the color of coffee with a tint of green. In Takara's opinion, he was attractive and kind of cute at the same time.

"Man... I wonder what happened to Takara..." He sighed as he ran his hand through his soft black hair. Takara blinked and stared at him for a moment before saying, "Shouta?"

The said boy looked at him, smiling. "Yes?" He tilted his head slightly as he gave a questioning look again. "How did you know my name?"

Takara twitched and did a facepalm as she grumbled. How come she didn't recognized her best friend at first place? Well, it had been five years since they've seen each other and go onto separate ways. Both of them dreamed to be professional music composers since they were young but the other one had different choices of musical academies they wanted to attend. After a heated one-sided argument, the two childhood friends decided to achieve their dreams and went on their separate ways. Takara had to admit. Her best friend did changed a lot since she was only connected to him through chat. Also, the fact they didn't do video chats was because Shouta didn't had the much time to video chat with her since he had a very busy schedule and a lot of work he had received. Takara was the same, after all. So, here she was in front of her idiotic best friend who still didn't recognized her.

"It's me, Shouta. Takara. Fuyumi Takara. Your best friend." She said with a straight face as the other stared at her. The staring contest started as one another started blinking one by one before an outburst stopped it.

"EHHHHH?! TAKARA? IS THAT REALLY YOU?!" He shouted in disbelief as his eyes widened and letting go of his bike that sent it falling to the ground. He approached her closely with a surprised look on his face as he leaned forward to look at her face, making the other leaned backward.

"No... I'm just psychic who apparently read your mind and knew your name seconds ago." She said sarcastically with a deadpan look as she hit him on the head. "Of course, it's me, you idiot! Who the heck would have waited here at the assigned meeting place you picked?!"

"This is my bestfriend, Miyoshi Shou. Or as I would like to call him, Shouta. Why would I name him that? Because when we were kids he was shorter than me and since he was cute and all, I started calling Shouta 'cause it was kinda catchy. Plus, he looked like one of those shota characters in an anime. But now, he was taller than me which was kind of normal. Anyways, Shouta is my best friend who I have known since I was a baby. Let's just say we went through thick and thin together in our childhood years until the separation."

Shouta laughed as he beamed a smile at her. "I see that I got taller than you by now. Though..." He stopped mid-sentence as he looked up and down at her appearance. "... you're surprisingly shorter than I expected."

"WHAT'S THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?" She growled at him while her eye was twitching.

"Not to mention, the way you're dressed." He pointed out as she looked at herself. "I really didn't recognize you since you dressed like a boy or something."

True, she looked like she dressed up as a boy. She wore knee-high pants and ankle sneakers while wearing a hoodie and she wore her cap backwards. Shouta grinned at her, "Even if you dressed up like that, you still have that feminine look on you! Especially when you have those low pigtails."

Takara had the urge to hit him again but it suddenly disappeared when he spoke up again with soft eyes and a sincere smile. "But, you're cuter when you dress up like that! Cuter than the last time I saw you."

She flushed at the compliment but nevertheless looked away to hide it before mumbling a small thanks to him. Shouta smiled and sat back on the bike.

"Come on. We better get going. Grandpa and Grandma are waiting for us. They can't wait to see you!"

"Alright, alright." Takara got her luggage and placed it on the small cart that was attached behind the bike. She sat behind the extra seat that was behind the other. He glanced behind his shoulder with smile. "Ready?"

"Ready as I'll ever be, captain!" She replied as she saluted at him childishly. He laughed at her and replied back, "You haven't change, mate!"

Takara grinned at him before holding onto him as they rode off to their destination.

As the two went off the road and got on a plain path that passed the fields, Takara looked at her right and her eyes saw a meadow that was filled with flowers. She stared in awe as they passed by it. The meadow was consisted of many different colors of flowers which made it more beautiful in the open sky. She loved these kind of scenery because it was beautiful at the same time peaceful in her eyes. She remembered on how the last time she went to this kind of scenery with Shouta before. Only, it didn't had much flowers unlike she was seeing now. They always played on the grass and discover some new things on their adventure through the plain fields. They would sometimes chase the butterflies that showed up and end up stumbling and bumping into each other in the process. Takara smiled at the memory and continued staring at the scenery that was presented in front of her. Shouta noticed where she was staring and chuckled.

"Like what you see, I presume." He said as he continued cycling with his eyes still on the road. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"

Takara didn't reply because she was still staring at the meadow. Shouta chuckled as he rode to the right when they arrived at an intersection as the trees covered the view. Takara looked upfront again as she decided to stand up a bit with her hands on the other's shoulders and her feet on the small round platform on the back wheel. She felt the wind on her face as her hair swayed with it. Her eyes looked up to the sky and beamed.

"Hey." Shouta called out as she looked down at him. He smiled and said, "Look at to your left."

She turned her attention to the left and gasped a bit. Her vision landed on a a very big landscape of mountains that were far away and a plain field of grasses. A strong wind blew as the grass swayed at a very big horizontal line. "It's so big..."

He laughed at her reaction as he looked at it for a moment as well. "It is... Just like the one we used to play in!"

"So you do remember it." She said as she looked at him again.

"Of course, I do! I mean, it is where we always played!" He exclaimed as they passed it. "Oh and hold on!"

"Wait wha— AHHH!!" Without any moment to ask, Shouta rode down a small down hill that made Takara hug his neck from behind. He released a laugh as they went back to the straight path.

"Surprised?" He asked, holding his laughter for a second. A hit to the head made him shut up as he cringed. "OW! I did warn you, right?"

"DO IT WHEN I ASK WHY!!" She yelled back at him letting go of his neck and clamping her hands back on her shoulders.

"As you wish, Taka~"

SMACK!

"OW! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO CALL ME THAT!!"

He pouted a bit and said, "Taka is Taka. You call me Shouta and I'll call you Taka." Shouta blinked and smiled again.

"Look! We're here!"

Takara looked up front and saw a small house with an elderly couple waiting while waving to them. She remembered visiting the said place years ago. She smiled as well as they approached it closely now. "It hasn't change much." She said.

"That's what I said when I arrived here yesterday." He said as he continued. "They're gonna be thrilled to you see again. So hold on!"

Shouta gained the pace as they approached their destination at a fast rate. Takara held onto him tightly, knowing she doesn't want to fall off by her best friend's extremeness. The two had a feeling a new adventure will be waiting for them when they'll arrive to their destination. After all, the two were on a get away to write music together after for so long.
