The next morning Jay woke up early. He couldn't sleep well, because it wasn't comfortable. He was glad Nya didn't stayed here. He rose his head up to look at the sky. Suddenly, something blocked his view with his black hair. It was no other than the keeper of the runners. Then he remembered-today was his first day in the Maze!

"Hey Mate. Ready to go out?"Cole asked looking down at Jay

"Please, take me out of here"Jay said sighing annoyed. Cole chuckled and unlocked, then opened the cage. He helped Jay out and the two headed to the kitchen. Zane, Nya and Seliel were already there and eating

"We are the other runners?"Jay asked confused. He was sure he saw more runners the day he came

"They gave up yesterday. The little sissy's were too scared to go back after Kai got stung during day"Cole explained

"Then, why are Nya and Seliel still there?"Jay asked sitting on the table with Cole

"Thank you very much"the two girls said not amused.

"They are rough chicks Jay. Don't underestimate them"Cole said and started eating. Jay took his fork and took a bite from his mashed eggs. He moaned. He didn't realized how hungry he was till now

"So, today we are all running together. We have to go and check the serpentine which Jay killed"Cole said and the other nodded

After they ate, the two girls ran to the west doors to wait the guys, while Cole and Jay went to get Jay ready. The two went to one room full with different things-from papers to weapons. Jay was amazed

"Okay Greenie, which size are you?"Cole asked

"What?"

"Shoe size, shank"Cole asked again and Jay looked at his feet

"I don't have a clue"Jay said and Cole sighed

"Okay, try these on"Cole said trowing him a pair of sneakers. Jay put them on and ran a little, then jumped to get used to them

"I think I am ready"Jay said confident

"Yeah, of you want to starve to dead for be killed by a serpentine, you are"Cole said. He went to some wardrobe and pulled out a watch, a lunch box and a bottle, then tossed them to Jay"Come with me"Cole said and walked to one hidden door on the back of the shack. Jay followed and when he saw what's inside, his mouth dropped open. It was a room full with weapons. From daggers to machetes

"Whoah..."was all Jay could say

"Choose some and then we are going to get our food"Cole said and Jay nodded. He took some daggers and small knifes and stuffed them in his back pack, which Cole gave him earlier. They walked out of the shack and to the kitchen to take their lunch and water, then jogged to the West doors. They already opened before around 10 minutes and the girls were waiting impatiently in front of them. Cole ran inside, Nya and Seliel behind him and Jay followed close on their heels. They were running thought the Maze, until they went to the place where the Serpentine was squished still

"That's disgusting"Seliel said kicking a small part with her foot

"Yes, it is, but it may help us to get out of here"Cole said. The four started looking around it, until Jay spotted something beeping inside

"What's that?"Jay asked. Cole walked to him to take a look and saw the light

"Hmm..."Cole said and reached inside to take it

"COLE!? EWWW! THAT'S SO DISGUSTING! I AM NOT GONNA TOUCH YOU EVER AGAIN!"Seliel yelled looking away

"You can't stand not to touch me, Sel"Cole said smirking. Seliel still didn't look at him. Cole took out his hand with the serpentine's heart and something metallic inside it. Cole took it out with his other hand and studied it. Jay looked at it too

"What the shuck is that?"Jay asked looking at Cole confused. On the thing was a little screed with the number seven on it

"I don't know.."Cole trailed off, thinking

"Guys, let's go back, it's getting late"Nya said checking her watch

"Yeah, I don't want to meet it's friends yet"Seliel said, still slightly disgusted from what Cole did

"Okay, let's go"Cole said. They started running back to the Glade

When they arrived, the four ran to the gathering room to find Lloyd and Morro there

"Lloyd, we have news"Cole said entering the room

"What's up?"Lloyd asked looking at the four

"We found something"Jay said taking out the thing they found and tossed it to Lloyd. Lloyd studied it confused

"What does seven means?"Lloyd asked looking at the runners

"We don't know, but I remember that the day when we were in the Maze, section seven was opened"Cole explained"That's where the Serpentine came from"

"So, there is actually a way out?"Lloyd asked

"Maybe yes, maybe not"Cole said and before anyone can say something more, someone burst into the room

"Guys..."everyone turned to see panting Harumi"...Kai....he's awake"
