Evelyn made her way towards Adrian and came beside him. Adrian regarded her and smiled widely at her.
"What did the Chairman say to you?" Evelyn asked casually.
"She was asking about my parents," Adrian answered in a shrug, "They couldn't attend the function as they're out of the station." He added.
Evelyn regarded his words and looked towards her mother only to find her mother looking intently towards her way. Evelyn threw her mother a bitter look before snapping away from her. But then her eyes landed on Carla who was talking elegantly to a middle-aged gentleman.
"Carla seems very feminine," Evelyn said as she observed her silently from a distance. Adrian expression turned cold at the mention of her name and threw a glare towards her way. "Is she in our class?" She asked casually and looked at Adrian.
"Yes, she is," Adrian answered coldly.
"You don't have a good term with her?" Evelyn pointed out from his expression and asked with her raised eyebrows. Adrian looked at her and his expression turned soft.
"It was in the past and I still hate her," Adrian said under his gritted teeth but his eyes were soft on Evelyn. Evelyn creased her brows and gave him a confused look. "We were kind of more than friends and things got complicated," He said quietly.
"Wait, what!" Evelyn explained in complete shocked. "Don't tell me she dated you and Nathan at the same time," She uttered. Adrian creased his brows slightly before letting out a soft chuckle.
"Let's go for a walk, shall we?" Adrian said and extended his arm towards her. Evelyn stared at him for a moment before nodding at him and tugging her arm into his.
They walked out of the hall and leisurely strolled towards the garden. "Nathan and I got in some ill terms last year. It was my fault though," Adrian said under his dry laugh. "I thought what Carla and I had was more than friends. Nathan had a thing for her too and she chose him. I acted too immature at that moment and end up fighting with him." He explained in a remorseful tone and sheepishly did a light scratch at the back of his head.
"We avoided each other for more than a month, or it was only me avoiding both of them. But everything is fine now, except that I still hate Carla." Adrian said and spat at the last few words.
"C'mon," Evelyn stopped at her track and turned him to face her. "Why do you still hate her? It was just the feelings that got carried away." She said thoughtfully.
"I just hate her," Adrian said in a shrug.
"You're still immature," Evelyn said, shaking her head.
"Can you at least let me hate her peacefully?" Adrian said amusedly. Evelyn chuckled softly before continuing to walk. But then Adrian gently grabbed on her arm and turn her around to face him. He simply stared down at her with a soft smile and didn't say anything. Evelyn stared at him for a moment before slowly turning her gaze down on the grass below. She could have been playful and retort at him but she didn't do so. She now knows how much pain has he been through when she rejected him because she went through the same recently.
"Evelyn," Adrian called out softly.
"What?" She said quietly as she tilted her head up to see him.
"Is there any chance for you to feel the same for me?" He asked softly with a smile. But she could feel the pain coming from his voice which he couldn't hide it.
"I'm sorry, I can't." She answered quietly. "I love someone." She said directly. She knows that she will be hurting him more but it's better this way so that he will get over her soon and he won't be hurting anymore. And moreover, she doesn't want to give him any false hope and make things complicated. She has always been direct and will always be.
Adrian slowly let go of her arm and sadly stared down at the ground. "It's Nathan, isn't it?" He asked with a strained voice.
"Yes," Evelyn said and looked at him with complete concern.
"I expected that," Adrian said masking his emotion, and turned his gaze at her. "I know he feels the same for you too," He said with a smile.
"Don't give me false hope," Evelyn said quietly and slowly looked away from him. "Because I know he doesn't feel the same for me." She added, staring at the lamppost.
"How can you be so sure about it?" Adrian asked softly, ignoring the pricking pain inside him from heartbreak.
"I confessed him already," Evelyn answered under her dry laugh. Adrian was broken inside. He took some moments before letting out a silent sigh and looked down at her.
"Are you okay?" Adrian asked softly, perfectly masking his emotions.
"I'm fine now," Evelyn answered in a shrug. "C'mon, let's get inside, it's kind of chill outside," She said with her arms crossed over her chest and began walking towards the mansion.
"Want me to embrace you under my warmth?" Adrian jested wolfishly as he came and walked beside her. His heart was still in pain but yet he just ignored it. He knows how Evelyn must be feeling inside, she might be in the same condition as him, trying to hide the pain inside her. And he doesn't want to make it worse for her by being selfish and showing her how broken he is right now.
"No thanks," Evelyn rejected amusedly.
"C'mon," Adrian attempted to hug her but Evelyn quickly dodged down and move away from him and on the process, gave him a pointed look and glared at him.
Adrian simply gave her a cheeky smile and continued his attempt to hug her. Soon, they both got playful and started to play tag with each other, sharing laughter. Even though it pains him, he is ready to bear it and stays with her all the time being as a good and supportive friend.

Evelyn shook her head as she looked down at Aaleyah who was still sleeping soundly on her bed. She grabbed the extra pillow from the bed and hit Aaleyah with it. Aaleyah whined noisily and shuffled roughly over her bed before lazily opening her eyes.
"Wake up, sleeping beauty, classes start in less than twenty minutes," Evelyn shouted so that she could make her wide awake.
"What!" Aaleyah shot up in a sitting position and quickly curled off from the bed, rushing towards the bathroom. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" She shouted from the bathroom.
"I did try waking you up from the moment I woke up but seems like you were under some spell and was waiting for your prince charming to wake you up with a kiss," Evelyn said out loud in a sarcastic tone before rolling her eyes over.
"And since your prince charming was taking his time, I didn't have any choice but to break the spell with the help of a pillow. Sorry for ruining your fairytale," She added amusedly as she put her books inside her backpack.
"Very funny, Evelyn," Aaleyah said sarcastically as she rushed her way out of the bathroom and quickly undress to put on her uniform. She quickly got dressed and hurriedly did a rough bun of her hair.
"Okay, I'm all set, we got five minutes to win it," Aaleyah chirped sweetly glancing at her wristwatch.
"If we make a run,"
Evelyn deadpanned and quickly walked out of the room with Aaleyah following her close behind. By the time they reached the classroom door, they were out of breath. And the class has already begun a few minutes ago.
"I'm sorry, Eve, you're late because of me," Aaleyah apologised under her panting.
"No worries, see you later, Ayah," Evelyn said softly before making her way towards her class.
Evelyn entered inside and frowned slightly when she didn't see Mr Hamitch inside the class. It was already past seven minutes for the first class and Mr Hamitch was not here yet.
"Professor is absent today, Evelyn," Carson informed her from his seat and smile at her, "Good morning,"
Evelyn greeted him back with a smile before making her way towards her seat. She stopped at her track and rolled her eyes over when Genesis lift her leg and blocked her way from going further. Eleanor snapped her head towards Genesis and glared at her from her seat.
"So, you're the daughter of the Chairman. No wonder where you got that attitude from," Genesis said scornfully.
"Yeah, spoiled brat," Sharon mocked with a sickening smile.
Evelyn scoffed and crossed her arms over her chest. "Thanks for the compliment, Sharon," She said cockily and kicked Genesis on her calves making her groaned loudly in pain and moving her leg from blocking her way. "Sorry, not sorry," She snickered before going to her seat.
"Serves you right," Eleanor mocked out clearly before throwing a winked at Evelyn who returned her with the same gesture.
Genesis became furious and angrily stood up from her seat before turning and throwing the most contemptuous glare at Evelyn. Evelyn stood beside her seat and gave her a daring look to do or tell something.
"I don't care if you're the daughter of the Chairman, I'll get back to you, I will make-"
"Can you just shut it, Genesis?" Carla interrupted her sister, feeling annoyed. "Why do you always have to be such a bitch?"
"Don't try to act cool, Carla. I hate you more than her." Genesis spat out before storming out of the class. Sharon followed her with concern latched on her face while Victoria and Keisha rooted on their seats and sighed silently.
Russell grabbed on Evelyn's hand and gently pulled her down to her seat. "Welcome back," He said amusedly before going back to reading his book. Evelyn chuckled softly before turning her gaze to look at Nathan. And the moment she did, she caught him staring at her. Nathan blinked twice and awkwardly shuffled in his position before offering her a smile. She rested her elbow on her desk and then rested her head over her palm, facing towards him. She stared at him and smiled profoundly.
Nathan let out a sigh looking at her and shook his head at how blatantly she was showing her affection for him. He looked away from her and cleared his throat before running his hand through his hair. Evelyn smiled victoriously looking at his state of awkwardness.
"Aren't you being too blatant?" Russell asked amusedly.
"I don't care," Evelyn said coolly before straightening up in her position and leaning against her seat. Russell narrowed his eyes and looked at Evelyn with complete amusement.
"You like him?" He asked but it was more like stating. Evelyn glanced at him and smiled in reply. "You're not denying it," He said jerking an eyebrow.
"What's the use of denying it when it is the truth!" Evelyn said in a shrug.
"I like that attitude," Russell said under his chuckle.

Evelyn stood near the sink and waited for Eleanor who was doing her needs. On hearing the footsteps approaching, she turned her head towards the entrance of the bathroom and saw Carla entering inside.
"Hey," Carla greeted her dulcetly before bending down near the sink and started washing her hand. Evelyn ignored her and looked to the other side.
"I'm sorry about my sister earlier, she's always like this- looking down on people," Carla drawled lazily as she wiped her hands with the tissue.
Eleanor walked out of the bathroom and eyed at Carla for a moment before washing her hands over the sink.
"Come, Evelyn, let's go," Eleanor said, keeping her eyes on Carla as she walked past by her. Evelyn noticed that and frowned slightly glancing at Eleanor's back. Evelyn threw a leaving glance at Carla before walking out of the bathroom.
"Let me guess, you don't like her," Evelyn pondered as she came beside Eleanor.
"Yes," Eleanor said briskly.
"Why?"
"Just," Eleanor answered and rolled her eyes over before stopping at her track and turning to face Evelyn who automatically mirrored her. "I feel like she pretends to be too nice, and you know what, I'm allergy to those kinds of people," Eleanor scowled and dramatically shook her body like casting away some disease from her body.
Evelyn sighed amusedly and shook her head before they both continued on the walk and got inside the classroom.
Suddenly the classroom was filled with blurring noises coming out from the intercom, grabbing the attention of the students towards it.
"Evelyn Summer, you are wanted in the Director's chamber right now,"
