14.

After spending some alone time inside the bathroom, Evelyn made her way to where Mrs Ebenezer and the boys have gathered along with the children. Mrs Ebenezer took notice of her first and creased her eyebrows in concern.

"Evelyn, dear, what happened?" Mrs Ebenezer asked softly, noticing her faint red eyes.

"Nothing," Evelyn prompted with a small smile.

"Grumpy, we were just waiting for you. We're heading back now. We'll visit tomorrow again for the program," Nathan informed and came beside her. Evelyn creased her brows and looked up at him.

"But aren't we-"

"Alright, see you all tomorrow, kids. Byebye," Adrian interrupted and waved at the kids animatedly before taking Evelyn's hand and dragging her along with him, towards the bus.

Shortly, the others came and joined them by the bus. She crossed her arms over her chest and darted between them.

"Spending the night at the orphanage was a lie, isn't it?" She asked glaring at them, especially Adrian and Mark who earned the most glaring. "Forget it, I should have known that I was being played," She said tiredly before withdrawing her hands to her sides.

"We didn't lie. We are spending the night here but not particularly at the orphanage." Adrian said amusedly. "We are going to The Abyss,"

"Abyss?" She scoffed and rolled her eyes over. "And you are the God of the Dead, Lord Hades?" She said in a sarcastic tone.

"Yeah, you can say that," Adrian shrugged off.

"Then where is your Persephone, ran away from you?" She retorted looking up at him.

"You can be my Persephone." Adrian prompted and smirked at her.

"No thanks, I'd rather be one of the dead than to be your Persephone," She snapped before looking away from him.

"Evelyn, The Abyss is a home for the nine of us. It's just some minutes away from here." Russell told her.

"We'll be tired of travelling back and forth. We'll stay at the Abyss and attend the program tomorrow, and then we can leave for college," Nathan told with finality in his tone. Evelyn regarded him for a moment before getting inside the bus. Nathan followed immediately and took her by her wrist. Then he dragged her towards the last seat and gestured her to the seat near the window.

Wordlessly, Evelyn settled near the window. Nathan chuckled softly before sitting beside her. The others got inside and threw them amused glances before settling down on the seats. William smirked at Nathan before sitting beside Russell.

"Hey, Leader, you took my Persephone," Adrian said looking at them and threw a glare at Nathan.

"She's mine now," Nathan said casually, jerking an eyebrow at him. Beside him, Evelyn glared at him and kicked him on his leg. Nathan gave her a pointed look before looking back at his front.

Mark appeared behind Adrian and rested his hands on Adrian's shoulder. "C'mon, Hades, let me be your Persephone for now," Mark said amusedly making everyone stifled a laugh, even Evelyn chuckled at his words.

"I knew you are bi," Adrian jested before sitting down. Mark let out a chuckle before sitting down beside him.

"Let's have fun," Mark told in a whisper and extended his fist towards Adrian.

"Yeah, lots of fun," Adrian smirked and jabbed his fist upon Mark's.

The ride to the Abyss was short and peacefully calm. Since they all had a tiring day, most of them were asleep through the ride. Evelyn was asleep peacefully with her head rested comfortably over Nathan's shoulder.

Jeffrey reduced the speed as he drove them through the large black painted Iron Gate and ride through the driveway. After a minute or two of drive, he pulled over and parked the bus in front of a large and long white mansion.

"We're here, get up, lazy asses," Jeffrey shouted amusedly before getting out of the bus.

Terrence laughed heartily before standing up from his seat and waking up his friends. William and Russell were up just as Terrence was about to shake them off. Terrence smirked at them before shaking up Adrian and Mark from their sleep.

"We're here already," Adrian said groggily and rubbed his hands over his face.

"Steph, wake up," Russell shouted amusedly at him but Stephen didn't bulge. But his shout was loud enough to wake Evelyn's up from her sleep. She pulled her head away from Nathan's shoulder and looked at the boys laughing at Stephen who was sleeping soundly.

"What happened to him?" Evelyn asked in concern.

"Nothing, he's just sleeping. And he is a very heavy sleeper." Terrence answered amusedly glancing at her. Then he reached for Stephen's cheek and pinched it hard while the others laughed casually. Evelyn creased her brows and watched them in confusion. After some seconds, Stephen groaned in pain and woke up from his sleep.

"Yes, baby boy, wake up, we're already here," Terrence said amusedly, releasing his cheek.

"Thanks, Terrence," Stephen mumbled as he rubbed his hand over his pinched cheek.

One after the other they got off from the bus and Evelyn was the last one to get off. She stared at her front and gazed at the large lavished white mansion standing gracefully in front of her.

"So this is the Abyss?" She asked with a tad of amusement in her voice.

"What did you expect? Fire? Dead bodies," Mark taunted amusedly to which Evelyn rolled her eyes over.

Mark and Adrian made their way inside the house and the others followed them behind. Nathan escorted Evelyn to the guest room and left her on her own. Evelyn got inside the room and scanned around.

"Grumpy," She turned back to see Nathan standing by the door. "A little heads up, beware of pranks," He warned amusedly before walking away.

Evelyn regarded his words before closing the door behind. And out of caution, she looked around for any hidden cameras inside the room and the bathroom. Though she knows that the boys won't go to the extent of hiding cameras, she just checked it to ease her natural instinct. She then took out her clothes from her backpack and strolled in for the shower.

After the shower, she changed into a white t-shirt and black sweatpants. As she was about to push the door open, suddenly her mind became aware and stopped midway.

"A little heads up, beware of pranks," Nathan's warning popped inside her head.

Evelyn release the doorknob and did a hard kick on the door with her right leg. The moment the door flew opened, an object fell off from the above, making a thud sound. She smirked victoriously looking at the flour scattered on the tiles.

Evelyn walked out of the bathroom and caught sight of Adrian and Mark, standing near the door, wearing the most disappointed look on their face. And when they drifted their eyes to Evelyn, they gave her a sheepish grin and steadily took some steps backwards.

"Both of you," Evelyn growled and jerked forward. Adrian and Mark quickly turned around and ran away from the room. She sighed in annoyance glaring at their back before getting inside the room to clean the mess.

After cleaning, she made her way downstairs and found Jeffrey in the kitchen, struggling to cut the onions. He kept wiping his tears and sniffles soundly as he chopped the onions. Evelyn softly laughed at him before going towards him.

"You need help!" She asked to which Jeffrey turned his red watery eyes at her and regarded her for a moment before nodding at her.

"What are you cooking for dinner?" Evelyn asked as she took the knife from him the started to chop the onion.

"I don't know, I just thought of chopping some veggies and keep it so that when Russell wakes up, he could make something for us," Jeffrey answered in a shrugged.

"So Russell is the chef?"

"Nathan, William and Russell, they are the chefs."

Evelyn went towards the double door refrigerator and opened it wide. She was impressed and at the same time, surprised to see it filled with fresh veggies, eggs, beers and many more.

"I bought it on our way here," Jeffrey told her.

"Let's see," Evelyn said nodding her head and scanning through. "We have chicken, pasta, beans, capsicums—" She trialled off before turning to face Jeffrey, "Do you guys like chicken pasta?"

"Yeah, we like everything," Jeffrey answered amusedly before leaning against the countertop.

"Would you mind if I cook dinner?"

"Not at all," Jeffrey shrugged off. "Do you need help with anything?" He offered. Evelyn regarded him for a moment with an amused expression before nodding at him. This was the very first good talked they had—the other days were just talking through glaring. She was also surprised to herself at how slowly she's getting used to them. She never thought of making friends with them but after spending time with them today in the orphanage, she got to see how actually nice these boys were. Maybe she judged a book by its cover on their first encounter.

"Can you please chop the capsicum?" She asked with a small smile to which he nodded amusedly.

"You were full of surprises today, Evelyn," Jeffrey said under his chuckle as he came beside her. He then curved down and took out the Capsicums from it and moved to the countertop. "I never thought that you would have any other sides than glaring." He said as he began to cut the capsicum.

"You were looking lovely today, Evelyn," He glanced at her and complimented sincerely. "I mean, you are beautiful, but today, you were differently beautiful with your feminine presence," He said in a casual tone.

"Thank you, Jeffrey," Evelyn said genuinely before taking out the necessities from the fridge for cooking.

After some minutes preparing for cooking, William entered inside and immediately joined them in cooking. Evelyn explained to him about the recipe and they both got engaged in cooking while Jeffrey helped them with chopping vegetables.

Kevin silently entered inside and settled on the dining table.

"I never heard him speaking," Evelyn said quietly glancing at Kevin who was now busy cutting an apple and eating.

"He doesn't talk much," William stated amusedly. "He simply uses his fist," He added.

"What a delicious smell!" Stephen popped out at the kitchen doorway and animatedly took a deep inhaled. "What are you cooking, Evelyn?" He asked with a cheerful grin as he strolled towards her.

"Chicken,"

"This looks delicious," Stephen said as his mouth starts to form water looking at the now cooking chicken. "Evelyn, please marry me after ten years. I want a beautiful wife like you who will cook good food for me." He said bluntly looking at her. Evelyn creased her brows and gaped at him.

"Don't take his words seriously. He has already proposed me and William for the wedding before you," Nathan said amusedly as he strolled inside the kitchen. Evelyn let out a chuckle and shook her head at Stephen before lifting the pan from the stove.

"You're so cute, Stephen," Evelyn blurted out making all the heads snapped towards her in surprised.

"What! Why are you all looking at me like that?" Evelyn asked raising her both eyebrows.

"Did you just compliment him?" Nathan asked amusedly, jerking an eyebrow. "Wah- I didn't know that you can compliment others," He teased her making her rolled her eyes over at him.

"If you keep surprising us, we all might just fall for you," Jeffrey jested under his chuckle. And for the first time in her life, Evelyn actually felt nervous with so many handsome eyes watching her. She could feel her cheeks burning up. But she quickly shook off the nervousness and held her chin up.

"Stop staring at me if you guys don't wanna go blind," She said cockily. But the boys simply chuckled at her.

"She's back to being cocky and badass, this is what we were missing today," William said genuinely and patted gently over her head. "Let's get over with the dinner quickly," he added with a smile to which she nodded at him.

After dinner, they all gathered in the living room and were having a movie night. But in the middle of it, the lights went off, making them all groaned in annoyance.

Evelyn began to pant heavily as her eyes darted into the darkness. When she felt a movement beside her, she let out a scream and quickly shut her eyes and ears close, and began to cry.

"Please don't hurt me, please,"
