Ash's pov

"Whoever shot Alpha Dylan with that arrow will be dead once I find them! If one of you finds the culprit, please inform me and lock them up in the basement!" I tell my pack. Dylan is currently resting, letting his wounds heal, and I have now taken his place until he is fully healed and can take charge again. He needs the extra sleep, anyways.

They all nodded, then started talking amongst each other. By the way they were talking and looking at each other, I would say that they were scared. Who wouldn't be scared if the leader of their group was almost killed by an unknown killer? All I had to go on was that the arrowhead had traces of Wolfsbane, a very deadly plant to wolves like us. If wolfsbane gets into our system, we could be killed in a matter of minutes. If the poison made from the plant gets into our blood, then removed by a blood transfusion, we would be ill for a week or so. If we digest it, we would become seriously ill and could die. Delta had done a blood transfusion on Dylan almost immediately, ridding him from any trace of the poison, but he was ill. Dylan is now weak, unable to shift, and can't mindlink us, so we assigned Sage to watch over him while he was healing. It was going to take days, or maybe weeks, for the alpha to heal completely. Until then, we are going to hunt down the creature that attempted to murder Dylan.

"Ash, I dont think this is such a good idea. what if one of us gets hurt? or killed?" Delta asked.

"No one will die, no one will get hurt, stick together at all time and you all will be fine. If someone does get hurt, mindlink me and I will come to help as fast as possible. Now, go and find who did this!" I say, pointing out the door. They all stood and left the house, weapons and med kits in hand.

"Ash! Get in here!" Sage yelled from upstairs. I ran up the stairs, almost tripping on the last step, and entered the bedroom that Dylan was in.

He is regaining his color but I can tell that he's freezing under the many blankets we have piled on top of him. Sage is mixing together some herbs has a cure for the poison we had extracted from his system. I insisted that he be kept from the others, in case they would freak out by seeing him this way, and that he be helped by the vampire who kept care for me and Sage. Although she was our gamma, she was also the only one anyone trusted with medical herbs. I do not know why that is, but its how everyone acted. Sage pours some 'enchanted' water into the mortar then mixed it all together with the pestle. She then proceeded to have Dylan drink the herb mixture, and his face scrunched up in disgust.

"What you need, Sage?" I asked, sitting in the chair next to Dylan's bed. I entwined my fingers with his, holding onto his cold hand. The wolfsbane was hitting him hard.

"Just need you to be with him for a while, stay here until I get back from the store. Make sure he stays there, no getting up and walking around until all his color is back and he realizes what really happened." Sage said, leaving the room and then the house.

"Diamond?" I heard him say. I looked down at him, his eyes fully wild like a free wolf. Jason has taken over.

"just call me Ash, ok?" I told him, giving his hand a slight squeeze.

"Why am I so weak? Why can't mindlink the pack?" He asked, fear in his voice which was rough and deep from sleep.

"you were hit by an arrow with wolfsbane infused into the tip. I have the pack searching for the one who did this, don't worry. Sage is helping heal you." I tell him.

"What?!" He sat up, "you can't be serious! I can't be this weak! Wait, how long ago was I hit?"

"Yesterday."

He stayed silent for a few moments, thinking it over. His eyes changed colors, from hazel to green.

"You have to go, now!" Smash yelled, running inside the room me and Dylan are in, "the house is on fire!"

I stood up, helping Dylan from the bed, and handed him off to Smash to get out of the building. Autumn was in the basement, cleaning up down there. I usher the boys down the stairs and to the front door as I ran to the basement. I could see the flames rising up the walls and I began coughing on the smoke that has filled the air. I got to the basement and found the door locked, banging coming from inside and a loud scream came outside. I tried ramming the door down, I tried kicking down, I even tried to rip it off its hinges, but the damn door didn't budge. I then ran outside to get someone to help me but there were firetrucks and firemen and police and an ambulance. I looked for Dylan and Smash or the others but I couldn't see them anywhere so I ran for the forest, feeling more secure there than anywhere else with all the emergency vehicles and personnel around the now burning pack house.

"Ash! Ash, where are you?!" I heard someone yell from a few feet away. I was heading in the direction of the cave.

"Dylan! Smash! Alu! Sage! Tobias! You guys are alright!" I exclaim, bringing them into a group hug. The only ones missing are Autumn, Delta, and Journey. Where are they?

"Journey is keeping an eye on the humans at the house and we couldn't find Delta or Autumn. Smash got Dylan out, Tobias helped me and my sister get the debris off us." Alu told me, motioning to the scars on her arms from the fire.

"What happened? How did the fire even start?" I asked, sitting down against the cave wall next to Dylan. He leans his head on my shoulder, his breathing shallow and slow, and soon fell asleep like that. I always liked how he looks so peaceful asleep, how his face relax and makes him look younger with his lips parted slightly.

"My best guess is either Autumn started it or the person who shot Dylan yesterday, and if it was that stranger they better run as far as they can before I get ahold them!" Alu said, hitting the wall with all her strength and obvious anger in her tone of voice. This would-be-assassin better run before they feel the wrath of Alu, the demon wolf chic assassin.
