17: Training for War...

Ash's pov
A few weeks later...

"Ash, you have to stay in shape or you won't be ready for the upcoming war between us and rogues." Delta said for what seemed like the millionth time.

I get off the tredmill and lean against the wall, my asthma now acting up and making it unusually hard to breathe.

"Delta, in the vision I saw, I was up against a dark blue wolf and we were surrounded by her army! You really think pushing me beyond my limits is wise? My asthma is acting up now, for crying out loud!" I told him, sitting down with my legs spread apart.

I had recovered a couple days after Illythia had bit me, and since then Delta has been training me beyond what I can do. Dylan trained the others on stealth and using weapons while Alu helped Delta deal with me. Our little demon-wolf chic wasn't anywhere in sight for like a day or two now, so then Delta went extreme on my ass with running and push ups and pull ups and sit ups and all that stuff. My legs and arms ached, I was lightheaded constantly, and I was about to pass out if he puts me against another "challenge".

"Delta, I can't keep this up. You know I have asthma and right now it's acting up big time." I take a deep breath and wince, "I just can't keep this up like everyone else can."

"Ash, you have to be ready for the war! If something happens to Dylan, you will have to lead us on your own." Delta scolded.

"Never say that again. Nothing bad will happen to Dylan! He's too strong for that!"

"Go get something to eat then get back on the tredmill."

I left the gym and headed to the field where Dylan was training everyone else. Once I got over there, I noticed everyone lounging around on the grass while Dylan was passed out on a chair. Seriously, these wolves need to not stay up all night.

"Why are you all just laying there? Aren't you supposed to be training?" I asked my pack, all of them looking at me like I wasn't wolf.

"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Tobias asked me.

"Tobias, you know who I am. I'm your guys' Luna." I say.

"Wait, Ash?!"

"Yes!"

"You look...different. What did that venom do to you? You're hair is a more maroon color and your paler than usual, and you have tiny fangs..." He trailed off.

"I was slightly affected by the vampire venom, but I'm still wolf. Nothing about what I am has changed. Now, why is my mate asleep in a chair?" I asked.

"Alpha Dylan passed out like five minutes ago, so we all decided it was time for a break." Journey said, her voice cheery for once.

"Well, it is late. You guys can go take showers, I'll wake up Dylan." I told them all.

Delta lead everyone inside while I tried waking up Dylan. He was asleep like a brick, so I decided to grab a water bottle that was near by and poured it onto him. The look on his face was priceless!

"Ash!" He sat up quickly, glaring at me.

"Only way I could wake you up, Dylan. Now, why did you pass out while training the pack? You have been getting sleep, right?" I asked him.

"It's complicated, Ash. I haven't been getting sleep and the pack has Alu to help train them."

"Why haven't you been getting sleep?"

"Again, it's complicated."

"Dylan, you have to tell me! Nothing is too complicated for this girl, even the vampire venom that was in my veins for a day or so."

"Jason has been keeping me up." He muttered, turning so his back is to me.

"What? Jason, as in your wolf Jason? How is he keeping you up at night? Why is he keeping you up at night?" I asked, making him face me.

"Jason takes control at night, he makes me go on runs through the forest, and he -- we -- get hurt. I try to keep him under control, but he breaks out of my hold." The look on Dylan's face as he talks about Jason is covered in fear, anger, and pain.

I hear the twing of a bow string, a gasp as an arrow struck its victim. I saw blood spread through Dylan's shirt, the smell hitting my nose, and grabbed him. I broke the end of the arrow and tried to stop the bleeding. Everything was silent, everything was muted, and I was hell bent on killing whoever shot my boyfriend with an arrow.

"Ash! Dylan!" Someone yelled, my ears muting it.

I was pushed away from Dylan, Alu and Delta grabbing him while I just layed there frozen in place. I felt someone help me to my feet and get me inside. I saw Alu and Delta carry Dylan into the kitchen, and I could finally hear everything clearly. I just lay there with nothing to say or do.

Minutes start to feel like hours. Everyone was busy in the kitchen dealing with their alpha, while i just lay there staring at the ceiling.

"Ash, get up and come see Dylan." Someone said, pulling me to my feet and leading me to the kitchen.

Dylan lays there on the table with pillows and blankets surrounding him, his stomach section bandaged up and he's shirtless. I see the arrow head on the counter and the bloody clothes by it, I was scared he wouldn't live after being shot with an arrow near his organs. Sitting in a chair next to the table, I hold his hand. He's still warm, and I could hear his heartbeat of I concentrate on it. Tears started welling up in my eyes, I felt them roll down my cheeks as a sob broke from my through my lips.

"Ashley, don't cry. I'm alright, I'm alive." I look up and see Dylan looking down at me from atop the table. I stand up and hug him, holding him close.

"I almost lost you!" I sob.

"Well, I'm right here."

"Train the pack in the gym next time, tough alpha." I kiss his cheek.

"Alright, little luna."

For the whole night after that,I held onto him unless he went to the bathroom. I won't let him get hurt again, never again will I be close to losing a piece of myself like I almost did.
