Ash's pov

"You know a lot about halo, don't you?" I question Dylan.

"I own all of the Halo games, Ash, of course I know a lot about them." He fired back.

Dylan has been ranting on and on about Halo for the past hour or so. We decided to go our way to the local Dairy Queen to get lunch when his phone rang, it was a mystery number but like everyone else, he answered it. I listened in on the conversation, only getting bits and pieces of it.

"Dylan, you have to get to the cave, now!" I heard the person on the other side of the line yell through dylan's phone.

"Okay, okay. I'll be bringing Ash with me, don't try anything this time, okay?" Dylan said into the phone. I could tell he was happy about anything that was being said, then he hung up and placed his phone back into his pocket.

"What was that about?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"We have to get to the cave, right now. Someone wants to see us as soon as possible." And with that, Dylan grabbed my hand and started heading towards the forest, where the cave was.

The cave is an indent in the side of a hill that we go to hang out and do other stuff in. Sometimes we have little meetings in the cave, with people that Dylan knows that I don't. Usually it isn't anything big but this time, I can tell it is by the way Dylan's acting.

We got to the cave and there stood Alu, the demon who was obsessed with messing with me and Dylan. Alu has pushed my buttons so much that I don't care what she says anymore, like it's nothing to be concerned about. This little meeting had to be very important, both Dylan and Alu were stiff and ridged.

"Dylan, I don't think that she has to be here for this, I mean it doesn't involve her at all, yet. Ash, why don't you go get wood for a fire, we'll be here for a while." Alu almost sang, which annoyed me.

"You can't really tell me what to do, Alu. You don't control me, so why don't you go get wood? Are you scared of something?" I asked the little demon.

"Ash, Alu, do not start fighting." Dylan said, placing a hand on my shoulder.

"How long will the 'meeting' take?" I questioned.

"Most likely all night, so run along and gather wood." Alu smirked. That demon really wants to be killed, huh?

I bend down, grabbing a stick, then I chuck it at Alu, hitting her right in the head. I then run off to grab more so then I could break, burn, and throw them at Alu. Once I can't carry any more wood, I make my way back to the cave and dump it onto the ground near the fire ring. I sit down on the ground next to the wood, taking deep breaths to get my breathing back to normal. Once I achieve that, I start making a fire for the night.

Alu's pov

I made Ash get fire wood so that me and Dylan could have a talk.

"She can't be here, Dylan, it's too dangerous for a human like her! She has to leave, now." I said, glaring at Dylan.

"You know just as well as I do that Ash is not just 'a human', she has a wolf spirit or is a wolf!" Now his jaw and fists were clenched.

I was really getting him mad, just over some girl. So what if she has a wolf spirit, it's probably just an ordinary wolf. I have been looking for all of the most powerful members of The Nine, Dylan just happens to be Jason, the beta male of the pack and an ex-assassin. Now we had seven more members to find, yet Dylan wants to spend his time with Ash, who is a distraction at the moment. Sure, she has a wolf spirit, but Ash isn't as important as what has happen to the pack. Maybe she was Diamond? Then it would make sense if they spend all their time together, or as much time as they can.

I see Ash come back with a bunch of wood, she places it by the fire ring and sits next to it. Dylan glanced at her, so did I. She was having a hard time breathing, why? She had finished breaking the wood into pieces small enough to burn safely. Does she have asthma or something? Back then, she didn't have it, right?

Ash's pov

Once I got all the wood broken up, I noticed that Dylan and Alu were looking at me. I stood up, walked over to them, and raised an eyebrow at them. Why would they be staring at me?

"What are you staring at?" I asked.

I poked Dylan with a stick, like normal, and he tried to take the stick but failed. I poked him again, this time he grabbed my hand and managed to get the stick. I sorta glared at him before giving him a peck on the lips while grabbing my stick back. I quickly got away and sat down in a corner, my stick hidden under me. Alu was trying not to laugh and Dylan seemed confused by something.

"You guys are too cute, sadly the Alphas didn't like it back then." Alu said, grimacing.

"What?" I looked over at the demon, confused.

"You don't know?" She asked, mockingly with a smirk plastered on that evil face of her's.

"Alu, me and Ash are both confused here. Could you tell us what you mean by 'the alphas didn't like it back then'?" Dylan asked, glaring right at the demon.

"Where am I supposed to start?"

"The beginning would be nice, little miss demon." I snapped.

"There was a pack, they called themselves The Nine. They had two Alphas, two betas, a gamma, a lead warrior, a lead scout, a lead hunter, and an assassin. They were the nine most powerful members of their pack, and in turn, the pack was the strongest. The Nine was also the biggest pack, by far. One day, The Nine had vanished, no one knew what had happened. A whole civilization had vanished in a day, no reason why or how. The Alphas' names were Delta and Autumn, Autumn being the ruthless alpha female. The betas' names were Jason and Diamond, Jason was the rebellious, rule-breaker that all the girls in the pack loved, but for him there was only Diamond as his love. The Gamma's name was Sage, who was the sister of the assassin, Alu. The lead warrior's name was Smash, the lead scout was named Journey, and then the lead hunter's name was Tobias."

"The Alphas did not like the fact that their betas were together."

Me and Dylan were just staring at her, like she had grown two heads or something. Did she say that the assassin's name was "Alu"? How does anything that we were just told involve me? How did a whole civilization vanish? What is going on here? I glanced at Dylan and he was still staring at Alu, while Alu was staring at me. What is happening?!
