Paul saw Eve and Eric seated on the couch in the lounge, as he descended last of the stairs, first thing in the morning. Her head was placed on his shoulder and they held hands.

A pang of jealousy pierced through his heart.

He was retreating back up the stairs when he noticed Lucy standing in a corner, guilt written on her face and he immediately knew that something was wrong.

Paul eliminated the distance between them in a flash, "Where's Joshua?" He demanded.

Eve and Eric stood simultaneously.

"Lucy lost him in the park." Eve informed him, amid tears flowing down her cheeks.

"What?" Paul shouted, "Why did anybody not inform me that?"

Lucy almost peed herself as he advanced towards her threateningly.

"Hey hey!" Eric came in between them before Paul could smother her, "Calm down."

"How can I calm down?" Paul spat, "My son is missing!"

"Getting mad won't gain you anything." Eric reasoned.

"Why would you care?" Paul said savagely, "He is not your son."

"Yeah! Mine is on it's way." Eric replied simply.

Paul involuntarily flinched at the cruel reminder.

"You better stay out of this." He warned Eric, trying to keep his cool.

"He was there when Joshua was born, you weren't."
Eve came to Eric's defense.

"Of course he was," Paul said, "he's a gynecologist."

"He was there too when Joshua took his first step, when he uttered his first word and when he went to school the first day." She bluntly reminded him.

Paul had no answer to that.

"I'll just go and search the area near the park for Joshua." He said instead.

"I already did that." Eric told Paul.

"I will still do that myself anyway." Paul said grudgingly, "You come with me." He ordered Lucy.

He walked towards the door, giving Eric killer glares. Lucy followed close behind without any brawl, like she normally would.

Just as he opened the door to get outside, an envelope fell at his feet.
