Evangeline fainted.

Eric carried her to their room. Paul brought a glass of water to sprinkle on her face.

As Eve gained consciousness and the initial shock subdued, she started crying again, with even more fervor this time.

"My son is in danger because of you." She blamed Paul, "I knew you were no good."

Lucy walked with long quick steps, all the while keeping a watch behind her back, for someone who could be following her.

She decided to take the back alley. She climbed the rusty iron stairs, carefully, up to her second floor shabby residence.

"Baby! I'm back." She crooned, once she was in the safety of her apartment. "Where are you?"

"I'm here." Came a male voice from the room on the left.

She found him feeding the boy, among the chaos that the room was in.

"Aww! This is so cute." She said, sitting next to him on the ground.

She turned his face to herself and kissed him smack on the lips. Anthony winced. Joshua closed his eyes.

"Can I open my eyes now?" Joshua asked innocently, after a few moments.

Anthony smiled despite himself. He felt like pinching the kid's cheeks but he didn't. Showing affection to your hostage wasn't exactly very professional, was it?

"Yes you can." Lucy replied, rolling her eyes. "You said you will give me a surprise once we are done with this. Didn't you?" She reminded Anthony.

"Mmhm." Anthony said while giving Joshua another spoonful.

"Can we go now?" Lucy came closer to him, if that was possible, playing with his hair and pouting.

She was probably trying to be sexy, Anthony presumed. He hated it when women did that.

"Yeah sure." He replied, standing up. It was better to get over with it once and for all, than to suffer any more.

"Yay!" Lucy giggled like a little girl.

"You made daddy proud. You definitely deserve a treat." He said.

He took her hand and started leading her out of the room.

"Wait!" Lucy stopped abruptly. "Weren't you a least bit surprised on seeing me here?" She asked Joshua.

"Nope!" Joshua replied, "Cuz I never trusted you."
